If people in this city want any real change, for good or ill, they need to either capitulate to the far left they've currently romanticized into thinking is capable of incrementalism, or get over their cultural distaste for electing a moderate Republican and put a centrist, results-oriented, slash-and-burn style reformer in charge. If there are any left in this needlestack of a city willing to stand for office.

I don't know if they're around anymore since fuck going downtown anymore because it's a den of inequity, but half a block west of said McDonalds would usually be a group of four to five angry Muslims just screaming at anyone walking by while some guy records them.

Our city constantly downplays violence and theft to attract big tech. Businesses are leaving now because no one who steals is ever prosecuted anymore. There was a giant letter signed by over a hundred businesses stating they refuse to come to Seattle now.

Fun fact because I finally got out of my shit retail job and am not looking back: living in Seattle and you want free stuff? Just take it. We had a secret memo which probably isn't that secret straight up telling us that everyone, even the store directors and security, are no longer allowed to take a photo or even say "hi" to a thief anymore.

And violence? Can't defend yourself. It was heart breaking to see an old coworker get his nose broken a few months ago and having to help restrain a friend whose the manager from running out there to confront the hoodrat so he didn't lose his job.

Last year a coworker and I was attacked by some bitch who wanted my cigarettes. She was out the very next day, nevermind my coworker having a concussion and when I mentioned to the cop it was hard to not clock the woman in the face, the cop told us that it was for the best because I'd be the one in trouble right then, self-defense and security cameras be damned.

The situation just fucking sucks and we're going to become a Detroit 2.0 any day now but the slime bag politicians these expats from California keep voting for will continue to act like we're in a safe little bubble still.

Its a problem that plagues the pacific northwest's tech capitals. In Vancouver they also have a similar problem with the junkies, police are as powerless to deal with them as ocer here as the legal system bends over to defend the Junkies right to theft.

Only real answer is good old fashioned vigilantism and the left make sure you cant do that

As an observant fellow once said, if there is a high wounded-to-dead ratio, the shooter is probably black. With a few notable exceptions (namely, the DC sniper attacks, which featured a perpertrator with military marksmanship training), black mass/spree shooters tend to have rather poor and/or indiscriminate aim.
Tyrone the neighborhood crack dealer probably isn't going down to the local shooting range with his illegally-owned handgun, but Mr. Wyatt Mann the disgruntled legal gun owner very well may be.
Therefore, I am putting this one down in the "criminals of color" category.

Another possible reason for the lower killed:injured numbers besides lack of training (and therefore, worse marksmanship skill and less knowledge/capability of deadly shot placement) is that poorer folks tend to use cheaper pistols instead of rifles (which are inherently weaker weapons in their comparative accuracy, effective range, and the kinds of wounds their ammunition causes). Assuming they can legally buy a gun, they may be looking at High Points or other lower end hand guns rather than considering a pricier AR-15 style rifle. Poorer folks also tend to use cheaper FMJ ammunition instead of hollow points. HPJ are 'safer' (for the shooter and their family) as they don't over-penetrate, but they are also more lethal against the target as the bullet has a better likelihood of fragmenting and/or expanding, causing more deadly wounds.

Maybe it's for the best that deadlier and more accurate firearms cost more? Plus, getting a lot of shooting practice can become quite expensive if you're shooting 9mm or 5.56 -- it's very easy to run through over a $100 worth of ammo every time you make a range trip, unless you're specifically shooting 22LR -- but then that training doesn't translate exactly to the more powerful calibers.

Well, we used to have super heroes like Phoenix Jones, until he maced some dancers and then turned to a life of crime.

On a more depressing note, someone connected to my inlaws used to patrol chinatown was a positive influence in the community, until the african gangs gunned him down at a stop light one morning.

Of course, officials claimed to have no leads even though everyone knows it was the gangs.

Anyways unless you have someone reform the whole damn city down to its roads you'll always have these sprinkles of gang violence.
