I don't want to shit up this thread with any more rate sperging but all the posts in question make fun of bronies and liberals so I'll just make the obvious conclusion and leave it at that.
Sounds plausible. Dunno why they'd downrate my post though. All I was alluding to was the fact that Woodbury University was once host to a very active 4chan community within Second Life whose notoriety and shenanigans ended up getting them removed from SL all together in 2010.
Honestly I really, really like the basic idea of Secondlife, but it has a lot of problems, for a start it's not a game, it's real estate economy is prohibitive to most players, and it's furry/deviant community has metastasized. There's no where for it to go but down.
It'd be great if someone could make a successor, but something with actual gameplay so that it'll attract more than just roleplayers, midlife crises, and trolls. It's really no wonder it's attracted so many speds, there's nothing to do but make freaky digital homunculi fuck. At least the trolls are fun.

Way, way too much but it fulfilled an elective for my major. Other highlights included being told to view 4chan then write a response (only 3 people in my class knew what it was before the assignment) and watching a 2 hour long documentary on WoW and the MMORPG community. Can't tell if he was a massive troll or just that big of a nerd.

This was always my favorite clip of Second Life: someone makes a gun that shoots a 3D model of Heinz baked beans and cornbread mix, and it plays a looping clip from the (now racist as fuck) 1940's song Beans and Corn Bread by Louis Jordan that overlaps other nearby shots & blocks players. Almost certainly a banned item nowadays.
I don't have them anymore but someone used to do great trolling with a Goku character model, and did the animations for powering up a Spirit Bomb, then flooded areas with flashing lights and particles that obscured vision, basically destroying furry rooms. Google turns up nothing for me anymore but I'd love to see it again.

All this makes me want to crawl into the depths of other multiplayer games and just see what debauchery lives in the community. I'm curious: does this sort of needless drama happen in other online economy simulators? Is there secretly a Neopets sexual deviants club somewhere?
The economic aspect of SL is relatively sober. You brew up some article of clothing or whatever, throw it up, make a varying amount of money forever, which only stack up with each additional item. I know a bloke who made a bunch of shit in 2010, practically sticks-and-poo in terms of quality, and they still rack in $300 a week.
I mean it's a chat with visuals. It's a chat based on attraction (and kinks), so it's bound to have drama. If something gets your dick hard, it gets other's rageboner going as well. Throw in the fact a woman with a dick is the most mainstream lewd format these days, and you basically got a bunch of trannies fighting for the attention. Think you'd have a hard time finding anywhere equally cringe, especially considering SL houses anything from 2008 avatars to 2018 $250 fuckmachines in CPU-destroying complexity.
You could always hop over to 8chn/sl/ and witness persona dysmorphia where people both try to be the coolest monkey in the jungle and get laid.
