Coming from a personal experience but without powerleveling, homosexual relationships work like a straight relationship. Society is so bent on cramming two men/women into a husband/wife mechanic that they erase the individuals' identities. Sure, Joe may cook and clean while Bob goes and gets the money, but these are their decisions, not them trying to fit into what society thinks of them.

Robert and Joey may agree to split the laundry bi-weekly and Laura and Josie pool their earnings in for a vacation with Hannah and Lawrence, who also did the same. A gay relationship works exactly like a straight relationship: two responsible adults co-mingling and making decisions with one another while meshing their personalities. We're just tacking gay on it because they're dudes.

I think the problem here is that society has not only oversaturated the gay scene with so much sexuality, but also with traditional gender roles, that all straight people see when they think of lesbians and gays is the porn of them, the stereotypes, and the sheer fact that they're not like them. It gives way to that hypersexual, forbidden nature of the LGB groups, from butch lesbians to sassy and effeminate gay men, as well as greedy bisexuals, which leads to this relationship misconception and the "So who's the man and who's the woman?" question.

"Faggot" means "sissy" to me. Long before I knew what a gay person even was I had learned the word and it is burnt into my head as meaning someone who is wimpy or a little bitch...kind of how bitch is usually used as slang in reference to a cruel or noisome woman, but has a double meaning for this exact same usage. I think a lot of kids experienced this exact same thing and I know I am far from the only one who did.

The origin of the slang is almost certainly rooted in comparing gay people to sissies, but if you learned the word before you even knew what gay was, there's no way you could have known that. Hell even the word "gay" was certainly heard by children in school who worked out via context clues that it was being used to describe something negatively long before they learned its actual definition. For me it seems to be more of a language and language learning byproduct than a "I grew up learning to dislike gay people". That is my theory anyway. This made it seem for awhile like there was a lot more gay-bashing than there actually was because a lot of people were using a word that meant something different to them than others.

Of course around the 2000's these slang terms began to fall out of popularity for such common usage, but that's why you see it so often I think. A lot of us are in a similar age group and were little kids pre-2000's. It was just one of our slang words, so it is stuck. I think the vast majority of people who say faggot have no negative opinion whatsoever on homosexuals.

It's love life on hard mode. If you take the oft-quoted 10% number, cut out all the lesbians, you've just limited your pool to 5% of the population. Now consider that most of those are clone-seeking lunatics with capital-I Issues, and well...good luck.

I'm convinced that there are several roads to being gay, and most of them are related to abuse or grooming or whatever you want to categorize them with. I was just always this way. I'm glad for your response, as it makes me feel better for not being the only non-clone-seeking gay out there. I also apologize, by the way - what I say about narcissism & homosexuality is too harsh and a product of my own negative experiences and self-image.

That's right. I am autistic and quite interested in statistics so at one point came up with an equation to return the number of eligible gay bachelors with whom I would be ideally compatible. Even in a city of 10 million or so people, the number came out at 7.3 or so. That's just narrowed down for broad criteria like age. But that's also a completely autistic and stupid way of going about dating; it's also rather narcissistic because others are viewed as a set of criteria to match one's own needs rather than seeing people as people. That mindset is encouraged by Tinder/Grindr/etc culture, which is a consoomerist model of dating which sees, and sells, people as products and encourages irrational thinking (notably, e.g. Gambler's fallacy, paradoxes of choice). Resultantly, many people are obsessed with finding The One™ or sucked into sex addiction through hookup culture. We all know people who have dated like 50 people trying to find their 'perfect match' (read: their clone). This is bad approach, statistically speaking (see: Secretary problem).

The alternative is to see people as people and go IRL, trying to date the old-fashioned way. Find someone cool, a friend-of-a-friend or so, and get to know and appreciate them as a multifaceted and complex individual who will never meet all of your needs but who brings good into your life. If you're gay, this is definitely hard mode. To maximize your chances of meeting other gays, it's best to join groups which include other gay men or LGBT groups. For example, a friend of mine goes to LGBT boxing and LGBT reading group. But, of course, it's all totally dominated by non-binary transtrender bullshit now.

However, before I get accused of going full gaycel: I maintain it is possible to meet and date regular, decent gay guys if you hang out in the right social circles, put your self out there a bit and (most importantly) have a patient and stoic approach to what is, admittedly, rather a difficult problem. I have a handful of pretty great, non-weird gay male friends - they do exist.

I'd clarify Born This Way in my case to mean "wasn't created via any readily identifiable methods that the Jesusy gay-haters usually claim are the origins of all gays". My parents weren't absent. No man gave me candy from a white van. I grew up in an average conservative-leaning household, wasn't beaten with wire hangers or sent to the prayer closet. Didn't get pounced on by a weird libertine school district that drew me into some fantasy gay recruitment program. I have negative penile blood pressure for anyone under 18.

My ill-defined unscientific hypothesis is that gay men often take on the worst dating traits of both men and women. Men can fixate on appearance to the exclusion of anything else, and women have a preference for "dating up" over anything else. So if you combine these, likely further encouraged by hookup/dating app culture, you have a group of guys always on the lookout for someone nebulously "hotter". It's one of the only explanations I think fits with the bizarre, often erratic behavior gay guys show when they dart around the dating scene. That's an issue largely separate from my own powerleveling; my woes on the guy search are mostly that the non-straight men in my area are 1) crazy, 2) crazy, 3) make politics their entire personality, 4) crazy, 5) have erectile dysfunction in their 20s, 6) are on the hunt for a combination life coach/substitute father figure, 7) are in polycule fetish-exploration cults, ghosts, 9) "you're not my type but you're wickedly smart and funny and good-looking and rich so I'm sure it's only a matter of time...", or 10) crazy.
