It’s a shame that in 2019, we are still having to deal with the blatant sexism from internet trolls of a toxic fanbase but here we are. The latest Ghostbusters film is officially in the works as Jason Reitman is at the helm for what is officially being called Ghostbusters 3, however there are quite a few man-babies out there that can’t handle the fact that Ghostbusters isn’t being catered to them anymore and instead will be marketed to a more ‘inclusive’ audience.

In a new interview, Jason Reitman talked about directing Ghostbusters 3, a direct sequel to 1989’s Ghostbusters 2 and many fans are excited about the possibility of a Ghostbusters film finally being done right. Reitman talked about skipping over the box office disaster known as the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot to reassure the fanbase that his version will be far far better.

“This is going to be a love letter to Ghostbusters. I love this franchise. I grew up watching it. I consider myself the first Ghostbusters fan. I was like seven years old when that movie came out and I love it. I want to make a movie for my fellow Ghostbusters fans.”

He continued by saying: “We are, in every way, trying to go back to the original technique and hand the movie back to the fans.”

As fans of the series rejoiced at the possibility of making Ghostbusters great again, of course, there was anger drawn by toxic neo-Marxist trolls looking to bring down the movie before it is even released. These bigots were already unhappy when they heard that the film was going to ignore the largely unsuccessful 2016 Ghostbusters, a film that lost 70 million dollars at the box office. Many believe the only reason the film was made was to hijack the franchise from fans to insert feminism and poor SNL humor. These doofuses then proceeded to viciously harass and attack fans for objecting to their agenda, here are a few examples of their hate down below:

It’s disturbing to see how much bigotry online is verified by Twitter, but this is our reality now that Donald Trump is president, he just brings out the worst in society. While a subset of fans are protesting the new movie ahead of its 2020 release, rational fans finally can look forward to a future of the franchise that no longer divides the fandom on the basis of gender. A truly inclusively Ghostbusters film is what we are looking at getting next summer and not even the toxic voices of Gamergate and Comicsgate can stop it. Ghostbusters is truly for everyone again.

Even if this was true, isn't it better that people honestly express how they feel rather than keeping it bottled up inside?

I'm not sure how you can make a direct sequel to a film made 30 years ago. It makes a little more sense with a franchise like Star Wars that has evolved to be about the Jedi and the Skywalker family line rather than a small group of people going on an adventure, which makes it easy to shift focus onto new characters, but I don't think Ghostbusters has that kind of longevity. They'll either need to recast the old crew and set it in the 90s or assemble an entire new squad of Ghostbusters like the 2016 film.

Who the fuck gives a fuck about Ghostbusters? I genuinely dont get it, and the culture war shit honestly disinclines me to even bother to try. Why is this franchise the Omaha Beach of cinema culture wars?

It's just a movie. Hell, you already made the all girl Ghostbusters, like, fuck if you want another, make one. My sister liked that one; stop worrying about the people who didnt like it and focus on the people who want another. You dont need to win every single fight every singe time. It's not that big of a deal.

Believe it or not, the world, capitalism IS big enough for there to be two different narratives. Maybe the fandoms would fight, but it's possible that you can have two different groups of Ghostbusters, yeah?

Had to check to make sure this wasn’t a word-filter for “Alt-right”. What the fuck, I though Marxism was hip and woke amoung this crowd? Or it is trying to be “ironic”.
Also this is like the third fucking thread we have on this re-reboot. I’ll set up a general Megathread later.

This article is clearly satirical. It’s like an article written by a rabid SJW, except it’s bashing that exact crowd.

I loved Ghostbusters as a kid. It was red hot when I was in elementary school.

We all had different accessories. Proton packs, uniforms, traps, everything.

At school, we used to pretend fat dorky kids were ghosts and chase them with twigs and sticks, pretending they're ghosts.

There was this one kid, his name was Ryan I think. We were in the 2nd grade and the lower elementary playground was on the opposite side from the upper elementary playground. lol we chased him in the snow from the lower to the upper, and in the upper there was this huge ditch that had like a 45 degree dip and it was like 10 feet down. My friend took this stick, it had to have been a yard long, and threw it at Ryan's legs, clipping his knees. he was running along the side of the ditch, and when it hit, he dropped like a ton of bricks, but he did it sideways because the stick hit his left back of the knee then the right. he was rolling down the hill, crying all the way, and this old bitch of a lunchlady came over and started yelling at us. we were gonna go help Ryan get out of the ditch, but she was blind and only saw us all running as a group, not that we were chasing him or that he got hit. so she made us go back over to the lower elementary side and she started yelling at him. she was like "get up you idiot, pretending to be hurt wont get you out of this". she like inched herself down the ditch and slid and landed on her ass too, that really pissed her off. she went to him and tweaked his ear and he hopped up and she threatened him with lunch recess suspension if he came over to that side again. He had, what was probably an autistic explosion, but there wasn't really autism diagnoses at the time, and he stomped away, making sure to shoulder bump us all as we were watching.

Ghostbusters was great.

Guys the website has the tagline:

FILM REVIEWS, NEWS, AND EDITORIALS FROM A CONSERVATARIAN PERSPECTIVE

These guys are on the other side.

Anyway, my thought is...

The 2016 movie seemed like a gender bent attempt to redo the movie. The main comedians from the original Ghostbusters movie were from SNL/SCTV. Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Dan Aykroyd were all SNL/SCTV Alums. Seeing that Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristin Wiig, and Kate McKinnon are some of the strongest talent to come from SNL over the past 7 years, it made sense to use them. It was just a bad idea to tack them onto this and try looking to an often overused trope for fan-fiction to create the reboot from.

Really, the 4 women could have had their own new IP created for them and it would have turned out much better. A lot of Ghostbuster fans may not have been into it, but there are more people in the world than those who love the old Ghostbusters. Just letting the 4 have their own unique movie would have been a better move. Having the marketing try to shame people into loving the 2016 fan-fictiony Frankenstein was just asinine. Allowing a star worth 7 figures like Leslie Jones to be in a twitter slapfight with a bunch of nobodies like Milo, was a failure on the part of the PR staff.

Wow. A bunch of gender ideologues believed that hijacking a beloved 80s franchise, injecting it with feminist claptrap, and insulting vast swaths of the population with their casual misandry would net them a billion-dollar performance at the box office.

We've got some real geniuses there--I mean some real Nobel laureates. Maybe we should listen to their ideas of how to revive the moribund franchise. :story:
