I had my doubts when I heard about this game because how disappointing the last Duke Nukem game was but this looks amazing.

I played both Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior back in the 90s but always thought Shadow Warrior was the better game.

I'm honestly surprised that this got made given how "racist" most of the humor is in <Current Year>

I hope it's like the first game, the looter shooter random generation shit made the game a chore to play.

If this is a hybrid of Titanfall's movements and Doom's fast paced action with magic force powers, swordplay, and actual, well-crafted levels, I'll pick it up.

It certainly looks better than Serious Sam 4.

Maybe visually but I played at least the first shadow warrior and I thought the actual gameplay was less fun than Sam. Like it felt that every other shot would miss for no reason at all and enemies were somewhat too spongey or just annoying to fight without being that captivating. I donno if Shadow Warrior 2 fixed that but I'm personally more excited for Sam 4

Enemy designs look really cool but the game itself looks way too slow. The glory kill clones look like they were animated at half speed or something. I'm a sucker for a grappling hook though so I'll probably pick it up if the rest of the game improves.

Shadow Warrior 2 fixed some of the combat and enemies but I still liked the first one more largely because of the fantastic Lo-Wang/Hoji combo, Lo-Wang developed nicely over the game and the story for Hoji was very good for a eastern european $29.99 revival of an american boomer shooter.

Yeah, they say the jokes are less about race and more about stuff like Lo Wang liking comic books, but the character is still a white guy doing an impression of an Asian guy with a penis joke for his name, which I'm fine with, but is surprising that the journos aren't. I liked it but I also dislike it’s sequel a lot. Shadow Warrior shouldn’t be fucking Borderlands. I don’t want to deal with gem slots in a fucking FPS.

Decided to try and replay 2 again. It isn’t as obnoxious as I remember but I still hate the gem system and I think they should restrict weapons to different slots. I don’t need multiple melee weapons or shotguns autoequiping after each quest, and the baseline smg is dogshit. I also think that the Ki powers seem to be more user-friendly than I remember 2013’s being.

What I loved most about the 2nd was just how much fun it was to zip around the levels once you figured out how to take advantage of airdash and double jump and spent as little time as possible on the ground. The base weapons were sadly garbage until you modded them up and enemies had too much health as a rule, but there were some fun interactions like stacking multi shot on the rail gun and life steal on the chainsword. Ki slashes with the chainsword were just hilarious. So hopefully the grappling hook means they're focusing on making the movement system as fun and quick as possible.

Also looks like they’re leaning into the demon hearts and heads from the original and putting in more corpse weapons. Hopefully they make the normal guns punchier.
