Shame Purchases - Do we have this thread yet?

Here's a thread to admit your abject shame and autism to the world. What have you bought recently that you absolutely should not have spent money on? How much cash did you waste on complete bullshit vanity? And how fucked are some of us going to feel when we see how much money a bunch of spergs are wasting on dumb shit while the rest of us are struggling to buy instant ramen?

I spent over 250 bucks on card sleeves today. FUCKING KILL ME. My double-sleeved cards are going to outlive me and retain their value eat my asshole, faggots. :story:

I own physical copies of all 5 Splatoon albums. This includes the OSTs of Splatoon 1, 2 and the Octo Expansion DLC and the Live remixes used in hologram performances of the fictional musical artists the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook. I even decided to fork over the extra cash to get the special edition of the most recent album that includes a Blu-Ray of the concert.

My autism for this children’s videogame franchise extends to the point that I am actively disappointed to some extent that I do not own the obi strip (the little bit of cardboard used to display the price and artist on Japanese CDs) for the first game’s OST.

Edit: I should not that i am not a giant music guy. I own a single non-Splatoon album and it is Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of War of the Worlds.

I dropped about 800 shells on four sweet 14 Terabyte hard drives to store my insanely autistic, completely pirated audio/video collection. Yes, I will die long before seeing or hearing all of the 43TB I have. But it's not seeing or hearing all of it that is important, it is being able to access any of it that matters.

You're not the only one who does this. I have only a small collection movies I purchased that I proudly display on my shelf but I'll be dammed if I purchased movies or TV shows I'm only interested in seeing once, and I don't have plans on subscribing to any video services. Better to save them on thumb drives for viewing later.

Oh god, I was really close to do the exact same thing. I did managed to stop for a minute and convince myself it might not be the best of decisions to go through with it, only to then get butthurt that I did not got a silly thing, then bought another stupid thing and the main reason why I am replying to this thread:

I bought an RC tank, 1/16 scale so it's decently sized. But the autistic in me was not happy with the performance of it so I have been buying upgrades for no other reason but to make it look and drive a bit better. So far, we are talking about 400 - 500 ish spent in total and I am still not satisfied with it, so now I am planning on a paint job for it and maybe mess with the internals so I can install a camera and other things. Tank go brrrrrrrrrrr.

I have a bad habit of purchasing classic PC games I'm probably never going to play on GOG, just so I can say I have it. GOG sells 'em for basically nothing so it's way too easy for me to get sucked into buying outdated shit. I have the first seven Might and Magics. Will I ever play all of them? Probably not, 80s RPGs are horrendously dated, even for me. I might dip my toes in IV, V, and VI, but I don't think I'd ever be able to get into I, II, and III. Ditto Ultima. Got the entire fucking series for like $20, and I've only ever played the first four plus a bit of Underworld (though beating the mainline series is on my bucket list). I also got Daikatana for a dollar. Why? Because it's Daikatana, one of the most infamous bombs in gaming and I got it for a buck. Plus the 1.3 patch makes it somewhat more playable than it was back in the day.

I'm just glad most of this shit goes on sale for like 1 or 2 dollars or I'd be broke by now.

I do this as well. Have about 10 TB full of movies, tv shows, music, books, video games, tabletop gamebooks, podcasts, an almost complete collection of Coast to Coast during the Art Bell years ect...

I'll never be bored again, and while all the streaming services and other media are doing their woketard Orwellian editing, all my stuff is still uncensored.

I believe I've spent somewhere between $300-400 on Urusei Yatsura merch; I try to look for secondhand stuff so my wallet hurts a little less. On the other hand, this has lead to two satellite collections consisting of Ranma merch (first 3 volumes, two SH Figuarts, a shirt, and a mug) and 5 vintage Barbies ('89 Wedding Fantasy, '90 Fashion Play, '90 Hawaii, '96 Sparkle Beach, and '96 Russian Barbie). I can only say 2 things in defense:
  • Thank God for torrents and scans.
  • Barbie tickles my inner girly girl, and she had some seriously amazing quality in clothes back then.
