Infected Shippers, Militant-Shippers, and Shipping Wars - When fictional characters fucking each other is a political statement

Anti-shippers are the reason why SJW wokester should leave the edgy grimdark genre of fiction alone.

Also, is it me, or do a lot of dark and dreary grimdark media, whether anime, video games, literature, or what not, come from very troubled creators? Why would SJW wanna make fluff fics out of dark and dreary media? WTF? Those type of stories are not the type for fluffy Disney romance. Every time fluffy romance or forced happy endings get shoe horned into Grimdark stories, that is, what kills the story.

I'd rather prefer abusefic and sadfics based off kiddy entertainment over SJWs failing to be edgy. At least with kiddy media darkfics, a lot of them are written out of sarcasm and a take that to the fandom.

Reviving the thread because I am wondering if there's a pithy term for this. Even just a tvtropes term will do.

You guys know the bad faith argument that Beauty and the Beast promotes Stockholm Syndrome? You know, the film where Belle blatantly rejects the Toxically Masculine villain and the Beast is the one to change for the most part?
A lot of the appeals Shipping Police make about how X ship is problematic take a similarly autistic line (Letter over Spirit) where they try to malignly label elements which are barely important to how the pairing progresses in order to taint it. It's weaselly and reductive but also strangely idiotic.

Am I making sense?
Reylo got the brunt of this. Everyone saw Han Solo's kid and was like, "Clearly he will be a very static character the whole time! He will never change for the better and reunite with the family!"

I think some of them have just poisoned their ability to see and recognize tropes that AREN'T rape metaphors or whatever. Makes ya think.

Maybe the ones based off of preschool material, but the darkfics of family-friendly media otherwise were all 100% genuine from what I've seen. Something-something about how easy or fun it is to corrupt innocence.

It's called not reading the room. The Stockholm Syndrome argument never made sense because it was Belle who willingly traded herself in for her father's freedom and she actually had expected she was going to be locked in the dungeon forever. She was actually surprised Beast (after Lumiere talked to him, note he's constantly being given advice throughout the movie) offered her into a better room, he even hypothetically asked if she wanted to stay in the cell and she said no, so she still made that decision to have a more comfortable living space. Beast was never a bad person, he was just raised spoiled and had a lot of anger and self-loathing issues that he had to learn to get over.
Also what were the first things Belle did after getting comfortable? She said "no" to Beast repeatedly when he asked her to eat with him despite this clearly making him mad, then she went behind his back to get food and then she broke the only rule Beast gave to her. Not only did she brake the rule, to do so she literally stepped over people who were helping her moments before and were telling her not to go the west wing. Belle was being an absolutely horrible, uncaring and thouhgtless, not without reason but Beast being furious with her wasn't him just being unreasonable. His outburst over her behavior resulted her running away despite deal she asked for and she only changed her mind after he saved her life. Even then she was in progress of leaving him to die in snow before thought better of it and willingly took them back to the castle to treat his injuries. She helped him only because he helped her and afterwards she continued being unpleasant by argued with him and he gave the same treatment back. This mutually not great behavior only ended because she put her hurt aside enough to thank him for saving her and he immediately responded positively for her peace offer.

Actually reminds me of a neat video about the romantic chemistry between Belle and Beast in how their interactions are described as a dance, something which the remake didn't have which made their growing relationship feel less deserved.
There's also the fact that if it were Stockholm Syndrome, Belle would be okay with Beast yelling and giving orders all the time. Yet it's made very clear that Belle won't put up with that shit, and even goes as far as telling him to control his anger (like his servants have been telling him for years). And it's after that, when Beast actually listens to what she says and stops yelling (he actually turns out to be pretty soft spoken) and giving orders, that she starts willingly spending time with him.

Also Beast didn't confine her to just a (quite nice) room, either. He straight up let her know she had the entire run of the castle and it's grounds, save for his personal space. And it's not like Beast was coming and going all the time either: he was just as confined to the castle as she was. He knew how people would react to his appearance, and he wasn't wrong.

Another thing people ignore about Belle is that she was pretty lonely and wanted someone to understand her. Remake had some dumb shit, but I liked that the Beast could read and how him and Belle bonded over their shared passion for Shakespeare... I thought it was more interesting than her teaching him how to read.
Remake fandom had their own shipping drama, google stanfou vs gafou

For some reason people like to describe her as stuck up. Yes, the animated version. Which I don't get seeing as how she tries to talk to other villagers and they just ignore her because they give no fucks about reading. I don't recall Beast being illiterate though, which would be weird since as a noble he'd be even more educated than (formerly) rich people.

Think he might've forgotten how to read over time. The curse was nearing permanence by the time Belle came around, and he had also forgotten his proper dining etiquette, something that is also important to nobles.

It's a big case of people forgetting the tone and context of scenes, they only remember the outline of the plot. You see this a lot in shipping circles. And I'm not referring to people suggesting lines sound romantic in hindsight but people trying to argue their bigger reinterpretations.

Welcome back to the latest and long-overdue installment of Kaiju Shipfic Wars, a bizarre corner of the Internet where kaiju fic readers get their panties in a twist over the slightest remembrance of the scars of adultery.

Honestly don't have much of an excuse for shirking my duties on keeping up with this, but IRL Internet fuckery, repeated talking points, and then constant off-topic gushing over Godzilla vs Kong just burned me out. The numerous times I had promised to post Godzilla sex thirst posts was building on the previously-established narration of the Big G having had one-night stands in his past, particularly one such steamy night with the alpha of his pack's bitchy daughter. Well, the author, whom is self-aware and knows her readers, chose to not show that night and glossed over it instead, thereby blue-balling everyone who was hoping to wank it to a lizard kaiju romp. GG, author, had myself a good chortle over that.

If anyone had an actual issue with that decision, I don't know and don't really care to know their thoughts 'cause you wanna know how many total reviews there are of this story so far?
2021-04-19 21.39.58 www.fanfiction.net 85dadbe78ee3.png

I'm insane, but I'm not that insane, especially since now readers are thinking Godzilla and a couple of new Titans shown in the newest prequel comic might in-story have had flings just because the Titans are sea monsters and of course want them to come into the picture. For context, these are the Titans, Na Kika and Tiamat:
IMG_20210407_195757.jpg

Godzilla freed this Titan from Monarch's nets and promptly blasted their outpost to smithereens.

New_Godzilla_Monster_by_Shinomura.jpg

This Titan attacked Godzilla for territorial reasons, but got her head smashed in so he could take the underwater cave for himself.

Anyway, there was a new chapter update in which the first half of the story has the young prince meeting Rodan now that he's a little older (still can't physically talk, he and his parents are telepathically linked), and while Godzilla was having himself some much-needed sleep, everyone's favorite(?) fire turkey takes the kid out for a flight 'cause he missed going out on flights with his mom. It's a cute moment even though Rodan might've only did it just to get on his future king's good graces, but he treats him well.
tsunami01.png

But anything with Rodan involved can't ever be sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. You know where this is headed: "Rodan is a sexual predator/abuser! Can't believe Mothra still loves him, the two-faced whore!"

(And have your episodic reminder that Rodan is not a rapist, they both consented that night.)

tsunami04.png

TropicofHot isn't wrong, but their choice of words isn't helping and they show clear bias from beginning to end. If they're trolling, they didn't convey it very well.

tsunami05.png

It's funny because Azure is like six months old. Imagine being okay with the idea of a child killing his mother's ex-friend/lover.

("Funny Bird" is how Azure identifies Rodan btw.)

tsunami06.png

tsunami07.png

Yeah, it's almost like the author has a self-admitted affinity for forbidden romances or something. Or maybe she just enjoys fanning the flames by bringing up such an actual key turning point to the story because those scars don't just heal and go away overnight.

Lol they're still pissy about the fact Godzilla didn't rightfully take Mothra's virginity first just because he didn't want to hurt her.

tsunami08.png

But nah, guess Mothra is just a whore who should've died forever. Fuck trying to tackle mature and complex themes when the easy way to solve things is to just walk away/impulsively kill your spouse as they grieve over hurting you.

These readers are something else, man. They'll thirst hard over the Queen Muto and Methuselah's dominance play in another story, but the thought of Rodan and Mothra's night together gets them fuming and gnashing their teeth over how Godzilla spared his life.

'Til next time, whenever.

Soooo there's actually an update on the current drama over the new chapter. I did not get to see what exactly happened, but the author apparently had a bit of a breakdown over the readers' behavior on her page on the 20th that she deleted:
profile.png

Because of the possibility things may have been deleted (she's mentioned before she was going to do this), I had to see what I could find to draw to my own conclusions, but it definitely all stems back to Rodan and his interaction with Godzilla's kid and how there are readers who just aren't happy about it.

So I drudged up what I could find from where I had left off, starting with Elsie who calls out a couple reviewers by name (GalaxyHigh was in the last post). The abuse angle is new, like nothing in-series showed Rodan was abusive. Sparring is not abuse.
tsunami_01.png

I expected LadyLove to have been dogpiled on, but I didn't see anything directed at her.

Here's a glimpse into the Godzilla/Na Kika thing that's been going on in the comments. While there's no erotic roleplaying going on like before (for now), keep that in the back of your mind that this has gained as much traction as it has in the reviews. But also this comment speaks for itself, shows how obsessed these readers are about the affair.

Shadowblade gives his thoughts, writing diatribes about his hateboner for Rodan and why he's the bad guy for loving Mothra and then "kidnapping" the prince (who conveyed he wanted to go for a flight), as well as helping to further fan the flames of the review section.
shadowblade_01.png

TL;DR local psychopath claims he's only okay with this bonding moment as long as karma or Azure strikes Rodan dead later on, doesn't matter he's trying to change his ways.

FrostyBear also gives his thoughts, and he's even worse in expressing his utter hatred for Rodan, even goes so far as to claim he acted like a serial killer.
Frosty_01.png

It never ceases to amaze me these readers are willing to die on the hill of a child learning about his parents' adult drama from before he was even conceived. Even worse that they expect a future king to just go injure or kill someone whom is shaping up to be like an uncle-figure (and one of his subordinates, at that). It's super fucked.

And Shadowblade followed with this in calling out readers:
shadowblade_02.jpg

There are instances of author bashing that have been brought up in this post and the last post, but there could've been more? But this has been the first time I've seen the author being criticized for choosing to write adult drama. Previously, there were readers who were just annoyed with Rodan and Mothra, but they still liked reading the series. But they have since gone further in claiming she's regressing the characters. Writer burnout could cause characterization to slip if one's not careful (she's been writing for this series for almost two years, now), but nothing I've seen while reading it shows signs of that. Lack of character growth (especially after a story arc has concluded and allows the once-main character to back off into a more supporting role) doesn't automatically mean there's regression. Stagnation doesn't automatically mean no new growth will happen, not like what one can see in long-runners.

Timeline's a bit blurry, but apparently in-series, only a few years has passed at most. Given that the characters can still remember events from millions of years in the past like they were just yesterday, a few years is like the equivalent of a few days to them. It just feels fast to the reader since, well, that's the nature of writing. And the majority of the readerbase came in right near the end of the original trilogy, and when "Deep Blue Sea" was in the works. Literally just a year ago. (Also think it might've not been a coincidence that as soon as an M-rated story showed up, more readers flocked to it.)

These complaints are of nothing but reader entitlement, and they can get away with it due to them being anonymous guest readers (thus making it difficult to determine how many individuals there are; if it turns out to have been instigated by one bored person, holy shit what a lonely existence). They practically inspired the author with ideas to expand the world as it was clear she had no true intentions on writing more after the first story, and what she got in return was them getting pissy at her for daring to imply the characters' actions are still being felt in-story. They state/whine/seethe over and over again that specific characters needed to die for "their crimes", but because the characters still remained consistent in how they're written and that the consequences didn't go the way the readers wanted them to go, suddenly the author has no idea what she's doing anymore.

So whatever the author's message was about on her profile, it had something to do with that and being personally attacked (and not in the memetic way, doesn't sound like it was a "You guys are a bunch of haters/flamers" message). Just have to take people's word for it and gather what little pieces I can find like this:

2021-04-23 19.22.31 www.fanfiction.net e99ddb71e6cc.png

and make a guess as to what happened.

No, they want Rodan to be the incel who dies a horrible death, but they want Godzilla to go have himself a side-piece or two because that's his right as a king--apparently. Never mind that in-story he explicitly stated in disgust that's not something he's ever going to do, but in the readers' eyes, he has every right to get back at Mothra for being a lying whore.

@Kari Kamiya , I feel like an anthropologist peering at the bizarre rites of a heretofore-undiscovered tribe. Your posts only need a David Attenborough narration to be complete.
Him narrating over the catfight between Mothra and Queen Muto actually sounds amazing ngl.

But I really and truly feel so awful for the author. She had never had this much attention with her fics before 2019 (and she's written quite a lot since late-2004/early-2005), and she was more than happy to return to writing after a few years of dormancy, and with something new. With all this newfound support and her husband being happy for her, everything about these stories and her own words just glow, weird as it is to say, and they're so genuine. You just feel it. Doesn't matter if she had a bad day at work, had some family matters suddenly come up, even when she had Covid, she put her all into her writing. She wants so badly to make her readers be happy and entertained.

And yet these guest reviews are such a trash fire that has grown out of control, and now there's a group of them turning their sights on her for "not being loyal" to a kaiju ship. In her own stories.

Shippers are such fucking assholes.
