We lifted with a group of friends when we were around 11. Long story short, we got caught, ended up in jail for 30 minutes and I'm still scared to shop at some stores.

Anyways, is this thread completely dead? I found quite a few recently active lifting blogs.

When the thread was at its height, most of them were really sloppy and there was a pack of tumblr vigilantes who would find them and dox them and tell their parents or the stores or whatever. That drove a lot of them off and the rest were more careful, so it got boring.

I was homeless from the time I was 14 to nearly 23. And, being too proud to beg, there's a trader joe's and a couple safeways somewhere in the southwest that I must owe quite a bit of money to in "lifted" lunch meats, cheeses, and tortillas. Oh and that one time I stole some nasty ass hemp cereal thinking it might get me stoned (it totally didn't but I was 14 so fuck it).

I actually wound up being quite good at it, the five-finger discounting that is.

When I finally got my shit together I wound up settling into a career where having been a "bad kid" myself gave me a wealth of marketable talent in spotting and dealing with other thieves. It's always funny to catch someone who thinks they've gotten away with it.

That said... what autistic fuck would post their scores so blatantly? If among of the rules is "thou shalt not get caught" and "thou shalt not snitch" then why the fuck would you spend any amount of time literally snitching on yourself?!

Two of the Wal-Marts here went from 24 hour to 7AM to Midnight due to shoplifting. At night, the crew is mostly stocking, cleaning, and the like, and there was no loss prevention except one guy who watched the register cameras. The loss got so high, corporate decided to just cancel an entire shift in two stores.

Almost fifty people out of work.

GOD these people piss me off so much. I worked a retail job in high school to save for college and we would get in a lot of trouble if a certain amount of stuff was taken that day. The store I worked at wasn't pulling in as much profits as the others in the chain so there was extra pressure to catch shoplifters. We were forced to come in on our days off and do unpaid training days to learn how to better spot these fuckers. And I could maybe be a little sympathetic if I worked at like a grocery store or somewhere that sold necessities. But this was literally an arts and crafts store. What entitled jackasses.
They always say "oh it's fine if it's a big company! Stick it to corporate America!" Like yall really think this only affects the company? Let me tell you, the big CEOs and higher ups don't get affected by this At All. The people who are affected are the minimum wage retail workers. This is literally money out of their paycheck. They're the ones who face consequences for these lifter's actions, not 'corporate America' or whatever they tell themselves so they can sleep at night. Not that these people know what it's like to have to work to make ends meet.

I've worked a lot of retail jobs. I work one right now, and there's a lot of decent people trying to make a decent living. If you worked a decent one of these places, you'd realize that the workers at these stores are good people and aren't trying to take advantage of anyone. These stores don't need this, especially since Amazon is killing physical retail so fast.

Back in the day i.e 2012/2013/2014, the lifting community pretty active on tumblr to the point where not only existing lifters posted, but random girls would come across a lifting blog and ask for tips and such. People would post guides and videos on how to get rid of various tags, freezing ink tags, carrying empty bags from mid-high range stores (VS, Abercrombie, Jack Wills, high end department stores etc) but when The Bling Ring came out, everyone was like dude what the fuck and people started infiltrating the community and fucking it up and getting all the jimmies rustled.

Before the doxxing though, some of the hauls were absolutely delectable to the eyes of emotionally unstable teenagers. Literal piles of VS body sprays, high end pallets, high end tester perfume yoinked straight off the counter, thirty or forty lingerie sets laid out, Beats headphones etc. Kind of made you feel shitty about your own hauls and made you want to go bigger and better - that's actually how a lot of the girls ended up getting caught by the cops rather than tumblr vigilantes, it was all about one upping each other.

Nobody ever role played, that was utter bullshit - it was all real hauls, but tagged as rps for disclaimer reasons. I'm assuming now the shitshow has fizzled out and nobody really gave a fuck about Trinkets on Netflix, the blogs are making a comeback and are getting a little more shameless again.

I remember seeing rules like 'don't lift from charity stores or mom and pop businesses'. As if employees/loss prevention etc didn't get penalised for lost stock and allowing shoplifters to get away

Yeah, it gave me a shock seeing it since Kacchan had posted, I assumed it was still active.
You guys really missed the good shit, that's all I'll say. At it's height, the material that would have been available for this thread was absolutely top notch, especially the drama and all the girls freaking out when they heard another member of the community had been arrested.
