Should Switzerland allow motorsports? - Europe...Just...Europe

Switzerland bans all motorsport road racing events because of the 1955 Le Mans disaster...except for events with electric cars. I think this is an enormously hypocritical decision made because Switzerland's government wants to believe electrics will "save the world" and don't take into consideration that just as much factory pollution (as well as rarer minerals and resources) would be required to make them.

What do you think?

Of course they shouldn't banned it. How many people die in avalanches every year? Do they ban people from skiing or living in mountain villages? This was my first thought and I found The Winter of Terror when I looked up avalanches in Switzerland . It occurred in '50-51, around the same time period, and over 250 people died in avalanches that winter. They'd be completely justified in actions like lobbying for rule changes to prevent similar disasters from occurring or where spectators watch the race from. What they did was what politicians do, they made a kneejerk overreaction to make it seem like they're doing something. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out members of the government had something against motorsports in general, race organizer were tax dodging, or something similar. Politicians will always shriek and overreact, but they tend to have an agenda when they take something this far.

Is it just me that thought from the title that this had something to do with it being a fucking mountainous region?

The country that builds Koenigsegg bans motorsport.

Irony.

There's been pretty extensive testing done, and even if the power you get to charge your EV comes from a coal plant and the materials to make it come from the dirtiest mines in China, it's still cleaner over the lifetime of the vehicle compared to a gasoline engine.

Also nuclear power is the future.

My first thought is that I wonder how much money was spent by Tesla lobbying Switzerland's government.

My second thought is good job making electric car events uncool.
