Should women be allowed to serve in the military? - Should women have the chance to serve in the military, whether it's active combat or not?

If they can show that they're up to the same standards in terms of mental and physical readiness for the roles they'll be in, sure. In terms of combat - I don't have anything against it per se but I don't think mixed units of men and women would be particularly effective. You can talk equality all you want but men will subconsciously try to protect women moreso than their fellow men, and the last thing we need is some white knight brigade in a combat situation trying to heroically sacrifice themselves so the wimmenz in their unit can survive or retreat or some bullshit.

I'm fine with non combat roles, but even in the case of being on the front lines it's often bad for women, see Jessica Lynch. And I give her a lot of respect for owning up saying I'm not a hero I just got caught. And god let's not even dream of what horrors happened to her being a woman.

When it comes to the combat roles women can partake in, they get judged differently than men by that I mean lower. I don't really care if you can find me one girl who can out do a guy bring em on, but to set a different bar and let them in lowers it for everyone and in combat it's literally life and death. It's great women want to serve, but unless you can hack it like the men you shouldn't be around. But I'd say the same thing to a guy who's got a beer belly.

The mil in the world is one of the few places that stilll kinda admits men and women are different beings on the body. Women who serve long careers of any labor job tend to have more bone issues etc etc.

There has been some badass women in history, but the IDF and many of the USSR female snipes in WW2 are hyped up propaganda pieces. Since I'm a history nerd and don't want to come off as finger waging that war isn't a girls game, here's one badass woman that never gets brought up : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Pitcher

If they can pass the same tests as the currently men do without lowering standards.

This. We have men and womens' sports for a reason, as much as that sucks for equality, so unless a woman can perform up to scratch for today's soldiers, they're just going to be a liability.
Women being in paramilitary organisations or the Home Guard or whatever should be perfectly fine, though, because then it's just more combatants in case of invasion. America's got it good because everyone can have a gun anyhow.

Ask a combat veteran this question. Go ahead and see how hard he fucking laughs or rubs his eyes trying to forget how fucking dumb it is.

Got a buddy that served in Afghanistan launching rockets at Muhammad Al Goatphukur, laughs every time he hears "women in combat" because chances aren't they'll never see it while they are hiding behind cover and the men are shooting back.

Rear echelon is fine, front line units should probably be segregated. Which means the women stay behind the wire in a guard post.

There real shit is that the second a female soldier gets taken it's murder-rape time and it's going straight onto the internet. No unit wants to be assigned a 140lb female that will absolutely not be able to drag a 300lb+ (with gear) soldier out of the line of fire.

If this ever happens in a widespread way I'd be really interested to see how groups of tightly knit women work in units, and if all the catty stereotypes come along.

The simple fact is that there are combat suited people on both sides of the sexes. Take the Comicstorian for example, he looks like your standard jarhead, but he broke both his ankles during training and was sent back to the States & receives checks from the government. Edward Snowden fucked up his legs during training too, so there's two examples of men being too frail for combat, and plenty of women still in the military who didn't break their ankles during training.

I believe that women should be able to serve in the military, but however, women shouldn't be on the frontlines because simply they don't have the testosterone to build the proper muscle mass or energy for the sustained combat an ordinary military man will take. People act like it is a horrible thing to say that, but it is true though there are plenty of positions in our armed forces where woman can serve where they can serve vital roles like technical fields, medical, logistics, etc..

The military should invest in steroid research.
