Sketchy Cookbooks and Recipes - or, What Can I Add Into This Fish Shaped Jell-O Mold

Now that I have your attention, let's talk about a very specific genre of horror literature. Cookbooks. Back in our grandparent's/parent's/whoever's day, America collectively forgot how to make food not horrible or at the very least forgot that gelatin is not a necessary ingredient in cooking.

My grandma is a good cook, but she too often uses her high school cooking book, which was written in the days of WWII rationing.

Upon finding out that my grandpa and I were enjoying going to a curry place, she found a curry recipe in it and made it.

It was plain rice with a black gravy. It tasted like black pepper and water.

One could argue that bugs actually are a great source of protein and much more environmentally sustainable as a food source than traditional meat production. One could also argue that no one in their right fucking mind eats a bee salad.
