So ski season is now in session. Looks like pray for snow has been preemptively granted (fingers crossed it keeps going this way) and CO will be decent this year (last year was a shitshow). Utah also looks O.K. so far.

-Let's talk about pre-trip/season workouts;
-Let's talk about the sick deals on gear, passes, places (can we sleep on your couch for a; week bro);
-Let's talk about gear;
-Safety including (ski-rescue and beacon+pick) gear, tips, and tricks;
-Let's talk about the fresh pow and think bases;
-Let's cross our skis in a V or T in a classy way when we get air because snowboarding is for fags, and boarders ruin everything;
-Let's talk about park skiing versus off-piste (obviously superior);
-Let's talk about good(/secret) glades as well as good boot packing and good skinning areas; and
-Anyone heli-skiing this year?

Seriously some of you fellow nerdy misanthropes have to be into this.

I am replacing my gear with new (cheapish because I am broke) gear. It's been nice to see presents to myself come in.

- Got a pair of Marmot Refuge pants at a very deep discount. They seem nice so far, but I've usually shelled out a bit more for a nice pant with a bib.
- Got a pair of Hestra Fall line gloves and some Outdoor Research liners. Never used leather gloves for skiing before, so that should be interesting.
- Got another set of minus 33 merino wool underlayer including beanie and gaiter because they are cheap as hell for the quality, and I really like the set I already have
- Dakine 12L backpack. looks like a nice replacement for tooling around. Has space for a little bit of safety equipment, extra upper body layer, water bladder, spare goggles, a sandwich, and a thermos (barely)
- A new, bigger water bladder that fits the backpack and is way more ergonomic on my lower back than the last one I owned

Too broke to buy anything else, and everything else still works well quite well and is mostly undamaged

OP, when you're linking to the resorts with over $100 per a day pass and buying 100% wool garments, you shouldn't complain you're broke.

On a side note: snow coverage in New England is nice this season, looking forward to April skiing.
