Gotta roast Slim Jims like a crackhead. The cancer improves the flavor.

As for jerky though Savage Jerky turned out to be the best YouTube shill I've ever fallen for. Big meaty slabs, not too dry or too moist, and I haven't had a flavor that I don't like. Plus the hot flavors are actually light-your-ass-up hot, nothing worse than getting something "Hot and Spicy" from the gas station and it's just seasoned with like pepper and sadness.

As someone who follows a low-carb lifestyle, I have eaten Slim Jims for breakfast on numerous occasions. When the cancer is eating my intestines, I can only hope the opium drip is as delicious

A couple of South African expats in my part of the country have set up a local production line for South African-style biltong, which is supposed to be a sun-dried, vinegar-pickled/marinated beef jerky in its traditional form. Of course, for mass production, they couldn't sun-dry it in the traditional style, so instead it is air-dried but I think otherwise it's pretty much like South African biltong in most other respects, just using American beef.

I got my hands on some of their pre-production test batches, and the stuff is really tasty. Unlike American-style smoked jerky, it's soft and tender enough that it doesn't get stuck between the teeth, and the tenderness also makes it a flexible additive for other dishes instead of just eating it plain. For instance, you can chop it up and use it as a salad topping, or put the big strips in a sandwich, etc.

They have been advertising it as a kind of air-dried steak, to tout how different it is from regular jerky, but unfortunately I can't seem to find a website or anything for them. They were calling it something like "ROAR Biltong", and last I heard they were in talks with Walmart to carry it locally. Apparently all the rednecks at the local NASCAR and pro-bass fishing circuit can't get enough of the test batches, so they were very excited about going into full production.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt my fondness for Slim Jim came from the Macho Man Randy Savage commercials.
I still have to try all the flavors.
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a Slim Jim with cheese in the middle? Or am I thinking of a different jerky?
Regardless, it's a terrible taste.

As for other jerky, I have had Jack Link's before.
I went on a trip recently picked up some Matador jerky.
Turned out pretty tasty.
