Slurpees/ICEEs/Frosters - The frozen carbonated drinks found in gas stations

I've been on a Slurpee/ICEE binge recently, with me trying every flavor I can come across. Most of the machines just have Coke and cherry, with Dr Pepper, but some machines have more flavors.

7-Eleven has the Slurpee brand which usually has more varieties. About a year ago they had a Cap'n Crunch Crunch Berries flavor, which basically tasted like a blue raspberry Slurpee with whatever artificial flavor Crunch Berries have. It was okay.

Later, they had a Sour Patch Kids flavor, but while the flavor was nice, the citric acid (sour flavor) made it less refreshing than it should have been. Currently, they're promoting an orange-colored "Detective Pikachu Mystery Flavor", which tastes like a mango-flavor Slurpee but that could be the color throwing me off.

I recently came across a Fanta Banana flavor "Froster" in a Circle K, a flavor that I haven't seen in two decades. It tastes like banana chips.

I enjoy Mountain Dew flavor, but I've come across that only once in the wild in my state.

I love the cold and the texture of these kinds of things but absolutely despise most of the available flavors and the whole calorie bomb thing. I could see something like frozen lemonade being really good though.

There was a single summer where I used to live in 2006 where 7-11 had a Bawls flavored slurpee. That was badass because by that point Bawls had been a giant cunt and pulled their distribution out to basically online only unless you lived on the coasts in the US. I went just about every day on my way home from work.

Haven't had one in ages, but I used to love Icees, especially blending the Coke and cherry flavors together.

I can get Froters pretty easy, but I don't like paying the Jew-high prices at Circle K. Speedy Freezes I get sometimes though, plus Speedway has better deals.

Fragile? I'd wager it's more likely they were getting so filthy they had to mark them out of order until someone gave enough of a shit to clean them properly.
From my time working with BK, the ICEE machine goes down all the time.. At least once a day, it needs to cycle so it tend to happen around a specific time everyday. If you take too much out at a time, it needs to "recharge" before the next serving. Our coke one was always broke, and the same stupid bitch would come through everyday demanding it despite us telling her it wasn't working and wasn't going to for awhile.

Though I don't know the difference between and ICEE machine and a Slurpee one.. Figure they're at least close enough..

For some reason I decided to try a coffee Slurpee when they had that flavor at my local 7-Eleven. It was weird as hell. I didn’t finish it.

I did, however, like the cotton candy flavored slushie they had at a local convenience store chain I used to go to a lot.

I used to work at a 7-11 and I was the sole reason they never had any banana Slurpee for anyone else, and I am extremely proud of this fact.

Yeah if it isn't out completely the machine refreezes and remixes from time to time, we used to get that all the time after a large swarm of customers (i.e. free Slurpee day)

Because OKC is a very exceptional place with very exceptional people, we call Slurpees "Icy Drinks." The 7 Eleven stores in central Oklahoma are all independently owned by a family, not associated with the larger corporate entity. Legally they can't sell Slurpees (trademark reasons) and I guess the best the owners could come up with is Icy Drink.

So it turns out that a convenience store chain in my region has launched their own "high-brow" take on the Slurpee/Icee/Slushpuppy. Results are pretty decent, for what it is. They still sell their old-school terrible-for-you versions, which are admittedly reasonably tasty at times but not my preferred method of spending calories.

I went to 7-11s alot in Asia. The slurpees there are just better.

No brands, just actual flavors like various kinds of fruit and weird stuff.

I loved getting Slurpees all the time as a kid, and I'll still get one from time to time if it's especially hot outside. Cherry & Coke all the way.

My Mom would also get my sister & I a big-ass Coke Slurpee whenever we were sick, and it always made us feel better.

My mother was actually convinced that cola (specifically kola nut syrup but cola in general as a direct consequence of that being a flavoring) was a cure-all for dyspepsia. I haven't seen anything to really support that beyond carbonation itself kind of helping at times, but there's something to be said for the pleasure when you're feeling shitty.
