My pick is most definitely M.D. Geist from 1986.

The plot (what little there is) concerns the titular character, a genetically engineered killing machine. The M.D. in his name stand for "Most Dangerous", which he didn't earn for doing nothing. In fact, his creators had him cryogenically frozen in a satellite above the war-torn, shithole planet of Jerra to keep him out of their hair. Anyway, the satellite eventually crashes on Jerra, and Geist reawakens. He meets some raider chick named Vaiya, who tries to bang him, but to no avail; trying to get through to this guy is like blasting Godzilla in the foot with a sawn-off. It's a moot point. Geist blows some shit up, tears some guys limb from limb, and oh yeah, unleashes a horde of killer robots on the planet, wiping out almost the entire population. Why? Because he's a Merciless Soldier.
That's pretty much the entire plot, which makes Michael Bay films look like Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's also cynical as all hell: every character is sociopathic, opportunistic, hypocritical and/or selfish. It's not exactly a date anime. Despite it's lack of likeable characters, good animation, or a coherent story, it makes up for it with Geist's sheer badassery and a truly rockin' 80s soundtrack featuring Hironobu Kageyama.
