Chris seems pretty indifferent to comic books as a whole (except maybe Sonic comics), and he doesn't even use the medium properly, leaving out backgrounds and text-walling whenever possible.

So, why did he choose to tell Sonichu's story as a comic, instead of, say, a prose story with maybe a few illustrations?

Probably because someone told him he was real good at drawrin' pictures and should draw comics and he thought "I could totally do that".

Because Chris sucks at writing and really wanted a TV series, but didn't have the means to make one. To him, a comic was the best compromise.

Plus, it was only a matter of time before Shigeru Miyamoto saw the comic and offered to buy Sonichu, amirite?

That. It's been noted that the comic is presented as though it were a tv show instead of a comic.

This is true. It's like he's trying to make storyboards for an animated series without knowing what storyboards are.

Not only all of this, but in this first-rung world of copy paper/ballpoint pen entertainment, Chris has total creative control over the product, something he has never wielded in his life and never will (much less in an animation studio environment).

He grew up with TV shows, but has no idea or ability to animate, so he has to use what's available to him.
I bet he's never read any other comic in his life.

It's because he can't write or draw. He drew all of the action, because writing engaging action scenes was beyond the scope of his limited writing skills, and the wrote, or textwalled, all of the more mundane or boring details because drawing those things were beyond the scope of his limited artistic skills.

Chris only reads a few comics such as the superhero comics and the Sonic comics as far as I know. Other than that, he mostly watches TV shows.

Maybe he read the sonic comics and went 'yeah! I want to be just like that!' Or perhaps he thinks that comics will reach a wider audience, including children and adults.

The fact he refers to stories in the comic as "episodes" and talked about the end of the "season" of comics seems to back this up.

I might go further and say it's not unlikely that Chris thinks that his comics are just as good as if he actually made an animated Sonichu series.

A lot of kids experiment with drawing comics because it's easy and it's a familiar form. Chris is still mentally a child, thus wasn't able to move on to different forms of artistic expression.

Well as we all know, Chris only used the comics as an excuse to bitch about how 'hard' his life is. He didn't care how he got the message through. I suppose he thought comics were the best way of doing it.

The comics gave him the highest payoff for the least amount of effort.

Strangely, that's always been the thing that bothered me the most about Sonichu, it's his magnum opus, his pride and joy, even to this day he proudly proclaims himself to be the "original creator yadda yadda" So why the fuck didn't he give it the time and effort it deserved, instead of just scrawling it down as quickly as possible.

I think it's because he is too lazy to make a cartoon or video game of Sonichu. So he decided to make the comics as a way to coerce other people into doing the hard work of animating. I don't even think Chris is capable of writing a script because when he was talking about his video game idea he would say that all of the ideas were in his head and on paper. I would assume that the things he wrote out on paper were just basic incoherent scribblings.

The credits for Sonichu: The Cartoon would look something like this, if Chris had his way:

Written by Ogod Whatizmylyfe
Animated by Tellmahwife Iluvher
Voice Actors: Pleezgivvus Agoodrole
Directed by Alan Smithee
Etceteraetceteraetcetera
ORIGINAL IDEA BY CHRISTOPHER CHRISTIAN "RICARDO" WESTON CHANDLER, ORIGINAL CREATOR OF SONICHU, ROSECHU, AND THE CITY OF CWCVILLE. STILL LOOKING FOR A SWEETHEART.
