Omg the whole "appropriation" conversation is stupid to begin with but it's especially stupid in the context of food. There are very few cultures who's most common collection of foods isn't somehow influenced by another culture. People move around, they learn new techniques and ingredients, these get incorporated into other recipes. How do you even tease that all apart? Are Jamaicans racist for enjoying curry chicken so much, for instance? Or has curry been a Jamaican staple for a long enough period of time that it's now considered Jamaican? How far back do you have to go to decide who's allowed to eat what?
