So this situation is kind of "over" but I predict the salt is just beginning. This actually might go better on another board, but I expect lots of circlejerking over this situation in the gaming media over the next few days. It's all confined to Twitter from now, but I'm sure that it'll be a big talking point as soon as the west coast wakes up.
A twitter user named @TheLauralania, who appears to be a very typical "Teehee I'm a girl"-variety Twitch streamer attended E3 this year. After attending a Twitch mixer on 8/14, she "vanished." According to her, her phones (Multiple of them) were dead and she was just in the casino playing "late night poker" and wanted to be "disconnected" from the internet for awhile. Sensible, I guess, until you realize that she also missed several appearances and panels she was supposed to be a part of. Seems like there's a little more to the story, but...
A friend (OR FRENEMY??? More on that later) @ashleeeeean, also a girlstreamer, decided that this was reason enough to report her as missing to the LAPD. That was probably a good idea. A less good idea was to report her as missing to the Twitter Police Department.
The tweet ended up on the X-box One subreddit where, in the matter of hours, it rose to the number 1 post on all of Reddit. People quickly jump to conclusions about EVIL MALES drugging and/or kidnapping her.
Well known goof Nick Monroe also jumped in:
About two hours later, @TheLauralania begins getting in touch with various friends and colleagues, saying that she is safe. @Ashleeeean does not buy it, and despite reports from people on the ground at E3 that she is safe, wants "physical proof."
Soon after, @TheLaurlania posts a now-deleted video (Deleted because she said she "look(ed) like ass" - more on that later) in which she proclaims that she is safe and sound. She looked kind of dissheveled and disoriented in the video and it was taken in a hotel room. NOT GOOD ENOUGH for @ashleeeeean and people begin wondering if @ashleeeeean is in just in this for twitter followers (She gained a couple thousand throughout this ordeal.)

@TheLauralania then uploads another video, which she has deleted and retweeted multiple times, again saying that she is safe. By this point, the news has gotten around to several subreddits and has gone to the top of /r/e3, /r/twitch and several other subreddits.

Casting further suspicion on her story is that before "disconnecting," she made no mention of it to her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is @erhoTV, supposedly a Twitch streamer but mostly an absolute nobody. He was busy tweeting and retweeting all night looking for any sign of his lady love.

This has led many to believe that he has been cucked into oblivion and that this was all just the result of her getting high and getting some dick and it has all just spiraled out of control. That's sad, but to be honest, he's super ugly and she's kind of good looking so that's how things go sometimes.
At some point, @TheLauralania apparently provided whatever evidence she needed to to convince @Ashleeeeean that she wasn't being sexually stunlocked by a bunch of gamerbros and @Ashleeeean relented, tweeting that she was safe and sound.
As if this wasn't stupid efuckingnough, some intrepid autists have tracked down photos of her from around the time she went missing:
Pretty fucking boring, except that the black woman here is the same one in the video above who she claims to have waved down on the street so there's a few ways that this story ain't adding up.
Anyways, there's lots of angles here. Was this the fault of EVIL RAPIST TECH BROS? Is it a fault of overbearing FEMINAZIS for assuming it was the result of EVIL RAPIST TECH BROS? Was it the fault of EVIL RAPIST TECH BROS for creating an environment in which evil FEMINAZIS assume that every woman who doesn't answer the phone has been kidnapped (I predict the hivemind will choose this one.)? Was @Ashleeeeean only in it for the publicity? Should women be allowed to turn off their cell phones? Did she look "like ass" in the first video because she was high? What's her excuse for looking like ass in the second video? Why does she keep deleted and reposting the second one? How will BIG GAME MEDIA react to this (Assuming they don't ignore it because it made many, many of them go totally retarded on Twitter when it was going on.)
