This is a picture of an inflatable Spiderman sent to me by a friend then in South Africa, filled with helium (Spiderman, not the friend) and bobbing under a portrait of Sir John Eden (a notable fellow, back in the day) by Gainsborough (another notable fellow, b.i.t.d. ) which is owned by my mother, previously of the Vanderbilt collection. (Sir John, not Spiderman, nor my mother, that is.)
