It definitely discourages effort-posting in GBS, but the mods are too busy policing words to do anything about it.

This was my biggest turn off when I checked back into SA/GBS after years of being away. (I admit I returned for the Everest season because I like the thread tracking rich morons paying $50,000 to pointlessly freeze to death on a mountain and I have bets laid.) It seemed like mocking "effort posts" whether good or bad was all most posters did anymore. This obviously led to very few threads with worthwhile content from even being posted, because why fucking bother.

In 2004 GBS was overloaded with interesting threads to read, you were spoiled for choices and there wasn't enough time to read them all. Now, bupkis and it's why I eventually found this forum.

Troons are basically the result of what I call the Local Internet Tranny bubble. There used to be a time where each internet community had maybe one tranny, and sometimes thirsty middle-age men would creep on said (young) tranny and get her gifts and whatnot, because that's what internet creepies do to known attractive Girls. A lot of these guys were specifically lusting for trannies, though.

Any incels watching from the sidelines might find out about the attention said tranny gets, do a little cursory research, and voila—a new Local Internet Tranny is born. Eventually you get to the point where there's more Local Internet Trannies than there are thirsty men who have a specific kink for them (and a lot of them are low-quality anyway) so they basically have to rely on each other for attention and support and thirst at that point.

When this cycle repeats enough times, you get a community that reverts back to hating trannies unconditionally or worse, a Local Troon Brigade of screeching uggos trying to muscle real women out of the 'womanhood' caste. The latter is what we have here with SA.

I feel that in recent times with the constant shaming of the straight white male on social media this kind of behaviour has accelerated rapidly. Claiming to be trans on the Internet -- becoming enby (non-binary) in particular -- is a quick, zero-effort way of shielding yourself from any criticism. With the endless media shaming and peer pressure to "become trans" from their friends, why would anyone willingly admit to being 'cis'?

What you're left with is this incredibly broad """trans""" community who shoved away the truscum, a few thirsty orbiters who never figured out how to play the system and call themselves allies, and moderate lefts to right-wingers who think the entire circus is ridiculous and make fun of them.

It's a stage of Internet Tranny Brigade development that only triggers if they're too busy infighting to actually form a rat king. That, or the hostile community basically ensures only the shitlordiest of trannies can bear to stay around, effectively shielding the community from a troon coven to begin with (see SS).

When you think of it that way, it makes a weird amount of sense. Any community with a habit of circle-jerking or an insular nature is thus competing for dwindling amounts of whatever the local currency is--in SA's case, probably attention. Fortunately the Farms runs on the lulz standard, or I'd start to worry about the future of Null's testicles.

The troons are on high alert because the 'bad forum' is back.

Our absence seemed to empower 'leftistmuslimobama' to continue spewing his bullshit all over the forums. He claimed to have an hourglass figure (lol), that he really is truly black, and responded to several microaggressions when people posted words he didn't approve of.

On top of it he complained about not being promoted to full time at Epic. Apparently he's been stuck as an intern far too long and blames it on being a tranny. Yet, he used to talk incessantly about how progressive his employer was and how accepting they were.

Maybe he's just shit awful at his job? No it must be transphobia!

I don't recall if we discussed this when it happened, but it's come up a lot at work recently and I think it's worth discussing again:

The short version is that a young trans boy attempted suicide and was hospitalized. While in the hospital, several of the staff members repeatedly called him by female pronouns, his deadname, and even joked that he was just "too pretty a little girl" to treat like a boy. He later reattempted and succeeded in killing himself.

While not everyone has a story quite this tragic, many trans people deal with microaggressions like this every day. Little comments that seem like no big deal to the jokester but that feel like violent assaults on their identity to the victim. It's stories like this that make me feel extremely strongly about not letting people trivialize trans identities or make them into jokes. Something that seems tiny to one person is one of a thousand papercuts to someone right on the edge.

The good news is, my work has some connections to this hospital an we are working with them both on staffing policies and training and on ways to protect patients' trans status and prior information from staff who it's not relevant to. However, it's fucking sad that it's necessary that we have to do that. We should all be working at a society where people don't view the lives of others as a joke. Not everyone needs to be an activist (and I don't blame people for avoiding it given the target that so clearly goes on your back if you refuse to be quiet), but the reality is that if even one person in that hospital had spoken up to their coworkers or escalated the behavior that boy might still be alive. You don't need to be marching in the streets, but please don't be a bystander either!

That article is interesting. It seems like the child's parents did everything "right" according to trans ideology. They used her new name and pronouns, bought the child new clothes and a haircut which were congruent with the kid's new gender. The child's peers were supportive. They changed all the chil'd legal documents to read "male". Yet even though "his" world was 100% supportive, the child was still so suicidal it required hospitalization.

It seems like the only resistance the kid encountered to her new gender identity came from hospital staff, and I'm assuming she was housed with other females bc putting a 14 year old with a vagina in the male dorm of a psychiatric unit for teenagers seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Yet this one instance of adversity is what the parents claim caused the poor kid to commit suicide. No one suggests that the child's gender issues are merely a symptom of a more difficult to treat mental illness.

If the child had proclaimed herself the reincarnation of Genghis Khan the treatment would not include buying her a horse and flying her out to the steppe. I wonder if she might be alive today if anyone had bothered to look for the cause of her gender issues rather than immediately indulging the fantasy of a depressed 10 year old.
