Apparently they made a cameo in Sonic Mania though.
Yeah they did, so even if they weren't able to add them into Mania there is a chance that they might come back in a sequel or something.

The running theory about the Super Emeralds is that they exist but the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles didn't happen in canon so they were never powered up and Sonic never turned into Hyper Sonic so yeah.

It shouldn't matter anyways cuz Mania is a whole new continuity that was created after Generations or something, that and Sonic's continuity as a whole is all fucky so I don't know why they couldn't use the Hyper forms, it's just some random arbitrary thing that Sega did.

It's the same story repeated ad nauseam. It's also funny how the game made by the fans also had to have the classic nostalgic shit forcefully injected into it, Mania that would have been way better if the fanservice shit like Green hill zone wasn't put into it in the first place.
Was the inclusion of the classic an obligation or did they have a choice in the matter?
Sadly the foot was put down on them for the Super Emeralds cuz they aren't canon or whatever, it was another dumb move on the part of Sega but maybe they'll be able to use them in a sequel.
Assuming we even get a sequal. The developers for Mania have mostly moved on to making their own game studio, so it's up in the air if that will even happen.

From my knowing it was Iizuka that requested/asked them to add classic stages for the sake of nostalgia, we don't know the full story but yeah they were most likely not forced to add it, it's was just some strong wording on my part.

It's echoed to numerous places with Iizuka supposably saying that "Sonic Mania Will Have More Classic Levels Than New Ones" in a live stream something so yeah it was his idea, no idea why he loves nostalgia baiting so much.

I saw Adventure 1 get mentioned and I would like to encourage people to play DC SA1 any way they can and they'll see DX is actively trying to undermine SA1. Also, Sonic R is an amazing game and there's no excuse for not playing it.
Would you mind explaining the differences between SA1, DX and DC? I never had a Dreamcast so I ended up playing Director's Cut DC Pakku Pakku on the GameCube. It was alright, but the game seemed like a bit of a mess and some parts really dragged on. Especially the shit on the egg carrier thing.

It is if you play with the "Sonic R: Improvement Mod" by Showin.

Oh that note, Showin and The Duck Dealer posted two teaser photos for the next Generations Classic Sonic Improvement mod update.

Ain't nobody got time for that, just look it up yourself there's numerous videos on the topic.

There's a good video by Cybershell talking about how shitty the DX version is, at the end he recommends Dreamcast conversion but like I did before I would personally get BetterSADX cuz it has more shit in it. (and also as DC conversion in it).

First link summarizes some of the entries in the second link and has the perspective of a huge Sonic nerd.
Second link is the bible for how hard SADX fucked up everything and anything as hard as they could and then compound the problems over the years.
Third link is how to fix the PC port and make it less of a Godless mistake/sabotage.

I played and beat SA1 again for the first time in a long time about a month ago and the Sonic section (minus Lost World) still hold up as well as some other aspects of the others' campaigns but not to the same extent. Big's levels can still suck a cock but I managed to beat the whole campaign in less than an hour so it wasn't complete torture.

He did abit of a cock tease at the end about the fact of the Sonic X-Treme movie but you can just watch PatMac's old video about the Sonic cancelled movies if you want more context.

Anyways once again it was story I already know abit about but he went full in-depth with it and god damn why does Sega always have to fuck up good things?

It's kinda depressing how Sega fucks with it's developers to the point of making a good game/concept into absolute shit then when it fucks them over because of it they going to a completely different direction like how they did with 06 and the boost gameplay despite the fact that it wasn't the game, it was them fucking with it.

The only reason why Sonic is still a thing is because of the support from the fans, Sega knows this to the point of getting fans to make a game for them but at the sametime do nothing that fans would really want and just give them shitty nostalgic fanservice and short mediocre games.

It's the same story repeated ad nauseam. It's also funny how the game made by the fans also had to have the classic nostalgic shit forcefully injected into it, Mania that would have been way better if the fanservice shit like Green hill zone wasn't put into it in the first place.

The company is a fucking mess and I have no idea how long they'll be able to still stand.

So like everything that has to do with modern Sonic, people are fine with basic minimum.

This is from the comment section of one video, there is alot of coping going on here. (These comments are literally on every video about this topic)

Two ones that are worth the bringing up is first the Sliver guy one.

I find it funny how he considers this a return to form or something for Tails despite it literally just being an easy mode and a gameplay thing.

Also the "Tails can finally appear in an 3D Sonic game again" thing as been echoed around for some reason even if it's retarded.

Like do they not know about the Generations Tails mission? His purpose is pretty close to what Colors Ultimate is doing right now.

It's just sad that Sonic series nowadays can just achieve the basic minimum regardless of delays and people are still gonna praise it regardless most likely for the sake of "It's not 06!". This used to be a series that was popular for rivalling Mario as well as having different types of games for different types of audiences, and when we look at Sonic now it's just a set of mediocre soulless "playing it safe" games and mobile shit and "haha look at that Sonic Twitter account posting le funny epic maymay and praising some fanwork and/or fangame to prove how SEGA cares for us so we can consoom more unlike Nintendo!" that I'm sick of it.

I think the reason Sonic games have become so soulless can be boiled down to a few points. Firstly, you have the corporate reasons, as Sonic is first-and-foremost a brand, and the people in charge want the brand to maintain some kind of positive reputation, which discourages experimentation. Secondly, the games lack creators who are passionate about the subject matter and have a particular vision in mind. Mania is what happens when you get people who are passionate about Sonic, while Forces was clearly made by people with only a passing knowledge of the franchise and are only there as a means of making ends meet. Third, since the franchise has such a long history, no-one can quite agree where the franchise went wrong, and everyone has their own idea on how to "fix Sonic," so it can be difficult to determine which ideas are worth listening to and which ones are just plain bad.

Personally, while I like Colors as a game, I've grown to hate the story, as it's with this game that started the "snark era" of Sonic, where Sonic is an insufferable douche who quips unfunny one-liners every time he opens his mouth, and Tails is demoted from pint-sized badass in the Genesis games all the up to Heroes, to a completely useless pansy who cowers in fear any time something resembling a threat shows up. For Colors Ultimate to be a "return to form" for me would require the writers to completely rewrite the story from the ground up, and I don't see them putting that much effort into what is essentially just a next-gen/PC port of a Wii game.
