wrong, there were PLENTY of Platformers in the late 90's, Banjo.Kazooie & Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Crash Bandicoot 1-3, Spyro the Dragon 1-3, Ape Escape 1 &2, Rayman 1 & 2, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, Gex 1-3, Croc 1 & 2, Glover, Pac-Man World 1 & 2, Bomberman 64, Bomberman Hero, Megaman 8, Megaman X4, 5 & 6, Megaman Legends 1 & 2, Megaman Legends: the Misadventures of Tronne Bonne, Jumpin' Flash, Mischief Makers, Sillhouette Mirage, Rocket: Robot in Wheels, Jersey Devil, Punky Skunk, KEIO Flying Squadron 2, Clockwork Knight, Bug!, Space Station: Sillicon Valley, 40 Winks, Tonic Trouble, MANY Disney Liscenced games (Toy Story 2, Bug's Life, Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers), Wario Land 2 & 3, Kirby Dreamland 3, Kirby SuperStar & Kirby 64... oh and Bubsy 3D i guess.Others? Platformers went out of style in the mid-nineties. Didn't make a resurgence until Jax and Prince of Persia.
It was just Sonic and Mario, for the most part.
Poor you. People didn't play SA1 to go fishing.I didn't pre-order a Dreamcast to hunt for f*&king treasure, I'm sorry.
Jesus fuck even CHRIS isn't that badBy comparison, Pumpkin Hill in Adventure 2 took me 45 minutes my first try thanks to Sega's decision to nerf the Emerald radar.
Turns out, when you increase the size of the maps while giving them the worst sense of flow in the history of level design, force you to look for one piece at a time, tuck them away in the most out-of-the-way spots, and have hints that are vague and poorly translated, it makes it much harder to find the damned things. There's good reason why I consider SA1 to be better than SA2 gameplay-wise, and this is one of them.Jesus fuck even CHRIS isn't that bad
What does this have to do with Chris? I know he's a Sonic retard but he isn't relevant to what Book Thief was talking about.Jesus fuck even CHRIS isn't that bad
You know, the power of flight can break a video game in the sense that it trivializes most of the obstacles.I only know a few things about SA2 mainly its story and some other things.
One of those other things is how they massacred my boy Tails (gameplay-wise)

Listen I liked Gamma's gameplay in SA1 and I like how they cleverly implemented a playable Eggman but man do I feel like they neutered Tails in the process.
Now I don't really have a solution to this other than maybe it would have been nice if they made another character to match Tails' Sa1 gameplay and gave the Gamma gameplay to some rogue badnik on the hero team.
But Tails' gameplay in SA1 was pretty mediocre so I don't know, it's probably better the way they did it.
Either way, there is a mod that fixes this, you can only really play in Sonic levels but it's still pretty cool.
It was made by "Sora_yx" on Gamebanana aka the guy who made the SA1 randomizer.

Oh yeah talking about Tails and how fans are known to fix things in Sonic games.
Here's footage of the Colors Ultimate's "Tails save" mechanic in action.

Now literally everyone is in agreeance that this is a bad move that this is how the game will play default and how there isn't even an option to turn it off.
But nobody expresses this by canceling their pre-orders and not getting Sega money because "the fans will fix it" which is just such a dumb point.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy myself some good Sonic mods tons of you probably have already guessed that but the mentality of being fine with fans having to fix Sega's shit is so stupid.
I feel bad for the people who make videos expressing how they are worried about the remake because none of them can say that the game will be bad or that it looks bad, they are still holding onto the small glimmers of hope and are apathetic zombies about the things that they are worried about.
Now, this is nothing new for Sonic fans and I already seen this coming once more and more information surfaced but man it's still kinda sad to see.
Did you know that....You know, the power of flight can break a video game in the sense that it trivializes most of the obstacles.
Mad Space made me want to pull my hair out playing through SA2 again recently. In Adventure 1? I could beat those in a couple minutes no problem. By comparison, Pumpkin Hill in Adventure 2 took me 45 minutes my first try thanks to Sega's decision to nerf the Emerald radar. It's so tedious that I've taken to enabling a mod on the PC version that makes it track all three Emerald shards at once.
Might be confused for DSP.What does this have to do with Chris? I know he's a Sonic retard but he isn't relevant to what Book Thief was talking about.
I can only think of two things that you meant and that is 1# Chris makes poor decisions at stuff which is true but I don't know why you had to pacifically bring him up for that
Or 2# he is bad at video games and presumably as played SA2. If this one is true then please sent the footage of him playing Sonic Adventure 2 if it exists, I would greatly appreciate it.
Music was a bop. Rouge had the best stage music for her levels.Mad Space made me want to pull my hair out playing through SA2 again recently.
and it's always fun. especially if you combine flight with speed, why do you think i love Cape Mario? You know, the power of flight can break a video game in the sense that it trivializes most of the obstacles.
I wouldn't had been able to beat Mad Space if it wasn't for the stage music.Music was a bop. Rouge had the best stage music for her levels.
Freedom Planet exists, you know. It's pretty damned good, too.I wonder why we never had any Sonic "replacer" coming out in recent years, kind of how Bloodstained is the new Castlevania. I still want to see someone attempt a Sonic 1 again and move on from there.
Oh don't get my previous post about SA2 wrong. I've since learned to enjoy the game, it's just that the growth only came after modding over some of its gameplay short-comings, such as the Somersault killing all of your momentum. Even before then, I loved the atmosphere, story beats, and soundtrack.People can shit on SA1 and 2 all they want, I still enjoy those ones a lot. Nostalgia is definitely a factor since I've been reminiscing a lot lately.
Been stuck in the bedroom with a CRT TV from a broke ankle and had the husband dig out my old consoles so been playing them again. Still pretty fun, a lot more playable than the ports to PS3/Xbawks too. Crush 40 is always great.
And man, maybe it's just CRT TV's but I swear Dreamcast games look sharp and crisper than a lot of games I see now a days. Love the texture work in these games.
Freedom Planet exists, you know. It's pretty damned good, too.
Death Chamber is my faveorite Knux song but Secuirty Hall and Dry Lagoon yesss.Security Hall in particular is the best stage theme in SA2 period. Then its Pumpkin Hill.
