Sonichu Sonichu 12-9 - The Night Star comic

[The American Hedgehog]

Chris completed this last year; however, he only uploaded the first 22 pages to Patreon, the rest was scanned by one of his patrons and sent to me for adding to the CWCki (on the scans, the pages cut off near the book's spine and at the bottom, but you can still get the gist of what's going on). Sonichu #12-9 (#13 originally, retitled because of Chris's superstition on that number) clocks in at 55 pages, making it one of the shorter Sonichu books (#12 was 118 pages).

This was in production for 14 months, from May 2017 to July 2018. After the 2017 BronyCon, Chris decided to make this about Night Star, his MLP OC. The book is split into 3 stories, influenced respectively by Quinn, Idea Guy, and the MLP movie.

Summary

Part 1
Pages 1-11: Night Star's backstory, and she meets her alt-dimension counterpart.

Pages 12-30: Night Star falls in love with Jessica Quinn's pony counterpart, Diamond Melody. and they go out on dates to a concert and to CWCville (where they transform into humans). They "romped the hay together."

On the page after that, the relationship is suddenly over and Night Star tearfully explains via textwall that Quinn had turned out to be a troll against Chris so her pony counterpart was too ashamed to date Night Star anymore and broke up with her. Night Star "cried for days" and took a week to recover.

Some Idea Guy references were written in during this story - NS and DM go to Tesco to eat (a grocery chain which had a scandal for selling horse meat), and they have a conversation with NepGear (Hyperdimension Neptunia character).

Part 2
Pages 31-41: Night Star falls in love with Kun, Idea Guy's OC. They go out on a date to CWCville, where they transform into humans and tour the General Electric plant (GE is the company Bob worked for).

Their date is interrupted when Rei Ryghts (Neptunia villain) invades the city. Night Star transforms into Sonichu mode and goes into battle but is defeated and captured by Rei, who exploits Night Star's powers before beating her into a coma (mentioned via textwall; drawings aren't graphic, just Night Star falling from the sky and then lying in a hospital bed).

While Night Star is incapacitated, Kun goes to work for GE, where he designes the controls for plastic molding machines cloning and memory restoration devices. Night Star eventually recovers from her coma, Kun moves in with her, and they live happily ever after.

As a side-note, Kun's name is one of the few things Chris altered about Idea Guy's canon. His name was originally Kun T'Nyuget (read: Cunt Nugget), with IG telling Chris it was a Vietnamese word.

Someone clued Chris in about this after IG was kicked out, and Chris renamed him to Kun Hanhphuc (actual Vietnamese word for happiness).

Part 3
Pages 41-55: Night Star and Kun go on an adventure quest, which is ripped off from the MLP movie. The real world Chris makes appearances via photography.

The book wraps up with a preview explanation for the next Sonichu issue, which is slated to focus on Count Graduon's backstory and "maybe" Wild's, too. Though, as of this post, it's been 158 days since Chris has worked on the comic, so who knows if he'll ever get around to that.

Thanks for the synopsis, there really isn't much "story" to speak of if pointless character expositions can be counted as "story". I understand Chris stories have never been good, however even his old stuff was ironically good ( a la "The Room" type of "good"), but this is nothing. It's not even plot, it's trope character development.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm sick of his pony shit. You'd think now that he's in mid 30's he'd matured a bit, but he's basically devolved. He's turned his stories from a 12 year old boy's to a 6 year old girl's. And I mean that in the utmost disrespect, with my sincere disdain.

The live action stuff has a simplicity that is interesting in an Andy Warhol like modern pop art deconstruction/blasphemy. So I guess that's a positive

Overall 1/5 by Chris standards.

Same here. None of these comics are bad in a "so bad it's good" sort of way, they're just bad and even though Chris already cut corners in the earlier issues the fact that he can't be assed to draw anything and just textwall his comics makes me bored as hell.

As a side note that pic of Chris sleeping with his waifu up there is copied from an MLP fan series about a pony called Fluffle Puff. I'm not surprised that he's into it because the titular OC is in a lesbian relationship with Queen Chrysalis.

Chris is a human/Pokémon/talking hedgehog/unicorn pony pegasus/computer/God amongst men hybrid with electric and psychic powers that can travel through dimensions and foresee the apocalypse, but is not Mary Sue because autism I guess. And it's not just a character, it's all real!

It's remarkable how Chris doesn't change the storyline when it turns out his heartsweet is a dang dirty troll, but instead it's like he edits in real time. One minute he's scissoring Quinn's "OC" the next they're broken up and he's with Kunty.

The way he instantly falls out with one OC only to be in love with another in the space of a page is a good representation of how his life actually works. He bounces blindly from troll to troll since he can't figure out he's being fucked with until the troll gets tired of dealing with him or is exposed to the wider ween community.

Those two panels on page 30 - 'Damn it! I should've been more subtle!' 'Fat! FAT! FAT!!' are genuinely great. It's the facial expression in the latter in particular.

Honestly I'd take another kangaroo court issue at this point,at least the excessive violence was fun to gawk at this is just kind of a snore. I really shouldn’t be surprised by now but it never fails to amaze me at just how small Chris’s world really is.

The only male with a significant presence in CWC’s life was Bob (who designed shit at GE) and the first major male (non-self-insert) character in the series also designs things at GE. I know Chris has the ‘tism and has no theory of mind and blah-blah-blah but, along with having zero creativity, his experience in the real world is so sadly limited.

It already was. He did at one point say he was totally not gay because whenever penises entered his mind when he was mass debating he would think ther throught to push them out. This was around the Fanta fiasco or thereabouts but I may have the time mixed up a bit. Then he also made the giant penis Sonichu.

If he is at least bi I am not surprised at all. It just seems logical. He thinks about penis so much yet claims to hate penis at times. He needs to learn to love the schlong and as soon as he does, we can start the gay tomgirl saga.

Experience in the real world does not help the autistic mind with creativity, it just helps with a bigger pool to derive things from and even then it shows. Only a very select few of them are creative in their own way. One of the clients I worked with, Asperger, heavy case, he makes art, but it all focuses on lines. I would have never guessed looking at his work, but if he tells you, you see right away. He adds lines untill left and right, top and bottom, are balanced out, this can take months. Fun to see people try and figure out what the abstract painting could be about when all you need to do is look at the balance of lines. And this guy fetches €250 for a small painting.

Even austistic creativity often comes from simple obsessions.
