Sonichu Sonichu Game -

I'm developing a Sonichu Game.

It's about Sonichu meeting a character created by someone outside of Chris' life, and the two going on an adventure to save Chris' imagination from something trying to destroy Chris' mind.

It's based on Sonic Generations. Chris' imagination acts as Sonic Generation's hub world. It's a white void with locations from various Sonic and Pokemon games. The hub world is structured the same as Generation's "White Space", in that each level is accessed from a side-scrolling 2D area. There are a total of nine levels planned so far.

The game is supposed to run on a reverse-engineered Hedgehog Engine. If I can't manage to reverse-engineer the Hedgehog Engine, then the game will just be a heavily modded Sonic Generations.

What do you guys think? Would anyone here play a Sonichu game if it were released?

Are you developing this game on your own, or do you have other people helping? This seems really ambitious for one person, or even a few, even if you were able to reverse engineer the hedgehog engine, there's a lot more to it than that. Have you made games before?

If we're talking about whether or not people would be interested, I'm not so sure. It sounds like it wouldn't be much more than Sonic Generations with Sonichu characters and the addition of stages set in the Pokemon world, and I'll be honest that on its own doesn't sound too exciting. If it's good, obviously I'll play it, but I don't know what would set it apart from Sonic Generations, really.

I've seen that one! I like how CWCAC is shaping up. I wish Maple'll be able to release a demo before the end of the year, though.

That's true; game development is a long, arduous task, and it usually take upwards of 50 people to create a Sonic game. I'm just now starting to learn how programming works, and I don't have any prior experience with game development.

Right now, though, I'm only just starting to write the plot for the game and design the characters. There's Sonichu, of course, but I still have to come up with a final design for his partner.

It not just a dolled-up version of Sonic Generations, in that I replace all of the Sonic characters with characters from the Sonichu comics. In the game, I wanted to show what happens to an existing character when Chris turns the one of his..."original creations". In fact, setting characters originating from copyrighted works free from the effects of being exposed to Chris' imagination quickly becomes one of the main characters' goals.

As for level design, I'm planning to create all of the levels from scratch. I don't want to include any of the levels from Sonic Generations 'cause then I'd just be Chrissin'. And that'd be bad.

If you're a beginner to programming games, I would highly highly recommend you not run head-long into a project of this scale. I can tell you now, you'll be way in over your head. You're much better off starting out with something simpler.

I was about to say this looks way too ambitious, but Trickie took the words out of my mouth.

Maybe make something like "High-Functioning Autism Quest"? And I'm not trying to be an ass, something like "Depression Quest" would be perfectly fine for a first attempt at making a game.

You could even try your hand at hacking the classic Sonic games, it seems like it would be a good fit. And then you could move on to programming your own games. Just a suggestion.

The closest thing I did to that was unfinished work on a YouTube Poop of vivitehg's "Dykes Dykes China" that turned the song into a Chia Pet commercial. The Pets were Chris himself and Patti-Chan.

That's not very close, but it was supposed to go on YouTube.

I can see this going absolutely no where.
Brass tacks its taken pretty long to do CWC adult chronicles and that was a 2D RPG and some kind of 3D console game will take modders and modelers and programmers just to get anywhere with it. I'm sorry but with the experience you have in programming your idea won't get off the ground unless you hire professionals to do everything for you.

To be frank Dev, it sounds like you're flying too close to the sun. Low key game development projects like the one you've propositioned very rarely work out. The fact of the matter is that game design is a difficult, expensive and time-consuming job. Those problems become exponentially worse when you're the only one actually working on the game. Even worse is if you're not particularly experienced in game design, as in your case. The only project of that kind that has worked out that I know of is Katawa Shoujo and even that took nearly five long years to see the light of day.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from chasing your dreams of trying to produce a vidya game. As a matter of fact, I think most people on this forum would be quite delighted to see a quality Sonichu game come to fruition. My one request is that you lower your ambitions. Focus on making something small first, something that's manageable and realistically attainable.

That's good hun, but you're kind of double posting. If you need to post twice and no one has posted since you have, just edit your previous post and add the new information, okay?
