So, IGN just released this video featuring James Marsden, the actor who's starring in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Turns out, Sonichu is brought up as one of the questions during a quiz where James has to answer whether or not a statement is true or false. Relevant part is at 0:49:

I've always been fascinated by the mainstream SJW-leaning nerd community occasionally referencing Sonichu and Chris while constantly shitting on us for being toxic bullies.

I think one of my early warning signs of Cracked.com was when they were first starting to push more sensitive "you cant say this or that about group x because it hurts feefees" articles while at the same time having some photoshop contest with the winning image mocking Chris Chan.

I think it's because the business model a lot of current media has.
Paying workers is usually the main expense in any business, if some ruthless businessman can get people to work for him for free, even if the labour is unprofessional and shitty, he's for something big because most of them don't even need chains around their necks,
Platforms like Buzzfeed are actually pretty good at turning that unprofessional style into an adventage, Buzzfeed allows pretty much everyone to work for them as long as they do it for free, and their platform promotes an structure through which the """journalist""" in question connects easier with your average low-brow reader through consumer culture references, clickbait, ads disguised as news, etc...
The founder of Buzzfeed, Jonah Peretti, was an unironical marxist (follower of Guilles Deleuze's postmaterialist postmodernist neomarxism to be more precise) that after leaving college was poor as sin and made a huge blast with such business model after wondering what the next step in human explotaition may be after the end of Capitalism and Wage Labour: Voluntarily Slavery.
You can't make this ship up, I swear I am not making it up.

You can see pretty much all other online news outlets like IGN, Vox, Vice News or Slate trying to plagiarise Buzzfeed's business model.
Why is this important? Because some journos and businessmen have a huge incentive to use places like this as free labour, for example, linking our "research" as their source during casual mentions, you can ask Josh about that, he sure knows a lot about it:
There will never be another Buzzfeed, and businessmen know that, but they have discovered that there are still lots and lots of untappered free resources in the net to be untapped.
Now that free labour is more difficult, what's next? Automation: Using the archives of websites such as this to automatically write articles with an AI, website archives regularly made by governments, archive.org, archive.md, Gwern.net... are frecuently used to train huge AI models.
Places like KF can provide an unlimited amount of creativity, ideas and innovation for such AI models to be trained on.

So yeah, as a matter of fact, now I realise that writting this probably helps to further my problem even more. Losing my job and hunting rats or collecting scrap while trying to not get kidnapped for organs, sexual slavery or meat, all that will happen sightly sooner. And eventually we will be defeated by a superior intelligence into either submission or turning our body into fuel, so let's praise Moloch and I wholeheartly welcome our future AI overlords because the meek shall inherit the Earth :^)
This is like climate collapse, you can slow it but you can't prevent it, you can disable cookies, use tor, don't buy anything online not even using crypto (especially don't use crypto), don't use Google or Microsoft products, use free-source alternatives, etc... but you are eventually fucked, tech can become better or stop completely its development but it can never ever worsen, and the trend is there, welcome to a dark glimpse of the future my friend, enjoy your stay. I personally cannot wait to know if I get to be tortured by either machines or extremely sadistic cocaine-addicted Randroid upper class aristocrats, changes are that I'm not going to avoid the failing into the pit during the downfall of the world as a we know it
TL;DR: They do so to save cost in the short run and eventually get free labour through a minimal human input (that is free as well, i.e. Facebook users don't earn shit for training hundreds of AIs while not knowing it) and automation. Oh, also, being a poorfag sucks!
