Woo... alright, first post here and feeling rather nervous about it. Sonichu has always been a (very) guilty 'pleasure' of mine- from watching Chris's shenanigans to observing the bizarre cluster-fuck of a tale that is the 'Sonichu' comics.

I've been a long time lurker of the forums, enjoying things like Trickie and _Blanks_ comics and Maple's game amidst the Chris updates. I decided to finally stop lurking and attempt engaging with people- though I'm sure I'll probably go back to lurking again soon enough.

That out of the way, the subject of this topic. I've always had this obsession that when I see something that's terrible, like a bad movie or something, I'd imagine how it could be fixed up or 'saved'. Sonichu is no exception to that- I've toyed with the concepts in it thousands of times, including completely reworking the story into a form where it could actually be it's own franchise (by changing character designs, making them not be pokemon, etc). But something about that wasn't satisfying- there's this weird, gross charm to Sonichu I can't pin down. It's like a cat with only three legs, one eye, and mange. It's a hideous thing but you can't help but feed it and make sure it has someplace to sleep at night.

Lately, I've been a bit inspired by Maple. I don't think it'll go anywhere, but I thought you guys may at least like to see what fruit came of it. Maple's game is shaping up to look pretty awesome, but it focuses more on Chris and his 'life' than the Sonichu itself. That, and the fact that there'll probably never be another Sonichu comic led me to the thought of, 'wouldn't it be interesting if Sonichu were unofficially continued in a game?'

And that's where I started fiddling with Sonichu: Reclamation, something I've only recently figured out a name for. Now, before I get too much further, I have to explain it probably won't actually ever be a game. Picking at this has been a hobby over a period of time when there have been things I really ought to be focusing on instead... I'm really too busy and not quite dedicated enough to make this a 'thing'- at least not by myself, anyway.

The basic gist that I figured for Sonichu: Reclamation is that Chris has suddenly disappeared from CWCville, back into reality. Despite the attempts of the people of CWCville, the call for the return of their creator/savior goes unheeded. Over time, their world is beginning to break down without Chris to bind it altogether. Magi-Chan takes a last ditch effort- if he was able to bring someone from the 'real' world to CWCville, it may bring stability back to their world and keep it from plunging into the abyss of nonexistence.

Which is where 'you', the player, come in. Begged and brought into the world at great effort on Magi-chan's behalf, you are tasked with fighting the 'evils' that threaten CWCville, like Slaweel and Count Graduon. The Chaotic Combo assist the player when possible, but they seem to be suffering from Chris's absence, and are only able to occasionally offer support. The titular Sonichu himself has gone missing when Chris did, as well as Rosechu. The player is instead offered a Sonee to raise as their own companion- but as a Sonee would be basically useless (at all times) in battle, Bill the Scientist offers an experimental procedure, which will evolve the Sonee into a never before seen type of Sonichu (think types that haven't been seen in 'canon' before, like ice, poison, or fairy).

Over time, Magi-chan's theory is proven correct, and the player does bring stability to CWCville... as well as unforeseen consequences-
Like rosechus beginning to develop personalities, things actually being dealt with in a sane, rational manner, etc.

In the end, it's also revealed that Magi-Chan had ulterior motives as well.

Sorry about being so long winded. That out of the way, I did start to do work on the 'game'-

Was just testing out how I'd do dialogue here. Had a bit of fun drawing that Sonichu- only used colours from a Crayola pallete I found.

Main character shown here is actually Chris rather than 'the player', since I had made Chris sprites and just wanted to be able to use them. Shown here in fabulous man-bra, though there's alternates with him in 'the classic'.

And that's really it. Since this game isn't really going to happen unless a miracle of Godbear happens, I would like to offer up the sprites I've made, if anyone is interested. They're formatted to work with RPG Maker VX/VX Ace. VX Ace is, by the way, at the time of writing this, available on a weekly Humble Bundle. So if you wanted to make a Sonichu game or something that's actually productive and worth your time, you could grab that for a dollar and I could toss these sprites your way.

I guess that's all I have for now. Feeling a bit nervous, first post and all. I may post up some of my hypothetical 'new' Sonichu types if anyone is interested. Sorry this post is so huge.

Hah. This isn't half-bad, honestly. The Sonichus look well-detailed and the big Sonichu looked really nice. I approve of more work done with these!

Looks like an interesting prospect you've got going here. I hope you're able to get it made!

I have to agree with Pikonic, those sprites are great looking! If you don't think you can finish your own game, maybe you should consider getting together with Maple to help him with his?

My doppelganger has come to finally finish me off!!!

Nah, seriously, that's one of the main reasons why I started doing TRS, mostly because I was curious how far I could take a flaming heap like Sonichu before it finally collapsed under itself. So far though, it's been working well enough...

Anyway, onto more important matters: your stuff. This is looking really kickass and I hope you are able to continue on your project. I would offer my services, but the stuff I've seen thus far puts my work to shame. Keep it up!

This is awesome! I would be so excited to see what else you can come up with. Great sprite style :)

Someone else sent me a PM about these, so here. Some of them are incomplete but that's just how it's going to be because I don't have the drive to keep working on these, but you can use them for whatever.

Angelica has an extra sprite sheet due to flight. I was going to do the same with Bubbles for swimming but I stopped screwing around with this about then.

The idea behind the Chris sheet was that you could put him in different outfits, but I didn't get that far.

Hey, I know that someone already asked for the sprites n' stuff, but I wanted to know if it was completely okay if I used them as well. I don't like using important resources without permission.
Of course no is an acceptable answer, but if I am allowed to use them I'll give credit.
I don't mean to bug you, I was just wondering.
