so purchases are tied to console? what happens when your console breaks or you sell it? I get you don't want everyone be playing on the same profile for one single purchase, but how can several people log into the same profile in 2021 in the first place? Can't play the game if I remember right.
Oh, I thought you meant playing the friend's game with your profile. As far as I remember the physical disk could not be played by any other profile than it was registered... digital too, but like the issue was you couldn't lend your game to a friend. It led to Sony completely shredding Microsoft with this commercial. I do not remember it being tied to console, but I do remember the console effectively being bricked if it can't check in on the server.so purchases are tied to console? what happens when your console breaks or you sell it? Whatever Sonys marketing team was smoking in those days was either some really good shit or really horrible shit.
Isn't that a load of bullshit publishers say and if anything is tied to laughable marketing budgets ( literally the reason why some games have the MOST EXPENSIVE GAME OF ALL TIME tags on them ) and Gaymers lust for graphics"Games as a service" is an inevitable consequence of rising development costs. If the price of a single game sold stays pretty much the same throughout the decades, companies had to look for other ways to keep afloat. This does not excuse EA but it's hardly pure greed in definition.
Wokeism and mob-virtue pandering has no place in this world, that I agree
The dualshock 3 triggers are analog triggers, whereas the triggers on PS1/PS2 are simple on off buttons. The DS3 is pressure sensitive.Something I don't understand about the DualShock 3: why are the triggers "angled" and sticking outward?

Place it down on a table, you're bound to press at least one of them.
Yup. Big publishers are making record profits despite "muh costs". Digital distribution costs a mere fraction of digital distribution and selling 3-4 million copies now is merely expected rather then being a massive success.Isn't that a load of bullshit publishers say and if anything is tied to laughable marketing budgets ( literally the reason why some games have the MOST EXPENSIVE GAME OF ALL TIME tags on them ) and Gaymers lust for graphics
They were pressure sensitive originally. The Elongated design for the triggers was intended to house that mechanism.Something I don't understand about the DualShock 3: why are the triggers "angled" and sticking outward?

Tested this out. It's actually not that easy to accidentally press the shoulders buttons when sliding it around on a table. Very easy to do when pressing down on the sliding controller.Something I don't understand about the DualShock 3: why are the triggers "angled" and sticking outward?

I'm pissed about Ape Escape, that much should be obvious. But their HQ being moved to California from Tokyo is the most telling thing. They're done with good games. AstroBot was the last cool thing they did.Sony used to be great in the Ps3-psvita era but now they suck. And most of the studios that made games for them like japan studio (Ape escape) and liverpool (wipeout) are gone. What went so wrong?
Don't forget that consoles are sold at a loss. It's up to the software and subscriptions to do the long term heavy lifting.View attachment 2157634
I'm really starting to feel pity for those few stubborn japanese dev teams still developing exclusives on Playstation
I like to offer examples, lest people fall back into reddit theorycrafting. Here, I present you with approximately 11 minutes of credits rolling from Doom EternalIsn't that a load of bullshit publishers say and if anything is tied to laughable marketing budgets ( literally the reason why some games have the MOST EXPENSIVE GAME OF ALL TIME tags on them ) and Gaymers lust for graphics
Negative, wrong. And digital distribution was always going to be an excuse to widen the profit margin at the cost of each one of us losing physical copies. A savings that only some instances (Steam season sales for example) offer."muh costs" is a BS line to get gamers to pay rental costs for games forever so the dev doesnt have to compete with their past success.
The "TBA" release was announced on April 2nd, 2020, right when corona restrictions got really serious. Naughtydog would have been in totally-not-crunch at that point and with whatever restrictions they were facing, real or to spite Trump, it would be foolish to set a firm date on the game until they know how they're going to work from there on out. That doesn't change what I said that they moved Ghosts to fill a vacant spot. They had a blockbuster expected to release then, they needed something to release to offset the damage and lucked the fuck out with Ghosts selling like hotcakes. They didn't expect that, they had no idea it would. It was a new IP and corporations are very, very stubborn old dogs. Even if they get woke ticks infesting them they're still slow.
I have no ideological bent on this. I'm just sick of corporate cocksucking. Sony fucked up. There was no 4D Chess at play here. They didn't expect the leak and got caught on the toilet with their dick in their hands. You can't just magically shift shit like this, they likely knew they'd have to announce TBA long before they actually told us. Corporations are slow moving machines and they get slower the bigger they are. It's like watching paint dry.
To add to that, there have been a fuckton of horror stories coming from Naughty Dog about Druckmann that Sony blatantly ignored because they had faith in the franchise and the supposed genius behind the first game. Unaware that he needed a tard wrangler like Kojima and George Lucas did, only difference is that Druckmann has only ever produced mediocre shit and not the occasional glorious gem encrusted golden shit. So double whammy on Sony.
Never forget man's hubris.I like to offer examples, lest people fall back into reddit theorycrafting. Here, I present you with approximately 11 minutes of credits rolling from Doom Eternal
When you compare the original Doom (1994) credits, barely a page or so of names, you start to realize that certain complexities in the development cycle have been introduced and that each one of those complexities carries within itself an added cost.
season passes have nothing to do with MMOs, especially since back then you paid your monthly fee and then bought the expansion for full price, which was a nice profit on top of the subscription. they don't even remotely work the same. maybe you're talking about battle passes? but those hit big with fortnite. That "seasons pass" bullshit became a norm has its origins on MMOs of massive appeal, such as World of Warcraft (2004) wherein the whole industry found out that yes, it is possible to milk end users until the end of time. And again this was when blizzard looked and acted like a games company.
True. But in Japan, Playstation 5 game softwares have reached an incredibly low record in sales never seen before.Don't forget that consoles are sold at a loss. It's up to the software and subscriptions to do the long term heavy lifting.
