Sister services, email, and search will continue to be negatively effected by the attacks. I made a thread to talk about it, if you're into networking.
That's no excuse. PS1 still had a big install base but MGS2, Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy X were not cross platform.
PS2 had a fucking HUGE install base, but MGS4, God of War 3 and Uncharted were not cross platform.
Maybe when we reach the point that games take 5+ years to make, the console cycle should last longer *shrug*
The only next gen PS5 game is Rift Apart. I guess the cross-gen PS games would just be upscaled on PS5.
One justification I can see with this approach is limiting PS5 sales because of COVID. However, it means that developers are being restricted to fit that cross-gen requirement for sales.

There was a major power gap between the PS1 and PS2 and a big gap between the PS2 and PS3 though
The only thing I can see going wrong is that the PS5 version won't have load times and will have improved lighting and ray tracing which means the PS4 version may have you sitting a few minutes to load shit. Many early PS3 games had 4 minute loading times, so it's not unheard of.
Which is my point. Why are people paying 1000+ dollars for this shit that has barely any gap?
The SSDs and increase horsepower with these consoles open up opportunities for developers for games. PS4 was underpowered a couple years within launch, only slightly edging the One.

That line's hilarious considering that 120 FPS has pretty much become the new baseline for gaming PC builds. I don't give a rusty fuck about platform wars beyond exclusives, but if anyone ever claims that console hardware is competitive with the PC market, they deserve nothing but ridicule.
I would say CP2077 demonstrates that there is a significant leap in hardware power between the generations, but it's unclear how much of the PS4 version's failures were on CDPR.

Believe what you want, but when building Unreal Engine 5 Epic Games said that the PS5 SSD and I/O architecture is better than PC. Even when PC catches up we’ll be relying on the console space for game development to push any innovations with the new technology.
Ratchet and Clank is the only “next-gen” game we’ll be seeing for a while.
Considering that Cyberpunk minimum spec doesn’t even require an SSD, I’d say the bad console ports are due to CDPR still being moronic when it comes to the console space. Witcher 3 was also shaky on console when it first came out.
This is incredibly fucking gay if the not even the next God of War is a PS5 exclusive, I mean what the fuck?

I dunno this has happened before and people stopped caring about the last gen version because the next gen one was the one being heavily featured at launch. And it was still treated as an exclusive. Everything I've read about the PS4 version says the graphics and stuff will have a noticeable downgrade because they cranked up the foliage and fauna to the game.
There's no excuse for a crossgen game after a console is over a year old.
On a side note, one thing that sucks about Sony is with the closure of the Japan studio, I guess the rumor that they were working on a new Silent Hill was false?

When Japan studio closed they announced that team Asobi would be replacing it and be the new form of it. The majority of the studio is comprised of japanese residents. The Korean employees have apparently worked for RPG developers. It's not something to turn your nose up at. While Astrobot is a proof of concept, it's not bad by any means. They're at least proven competent to make a functioning game.
