PS5 doesn't have Quick Resume.
The closest players get to a 'Quick Resume' feature on PS5 is the new 'Switcher' option found in the control centre. This remembers your most recent games and apps and allows you to 'switch' in and out on the fly without having to go back to the main PS5 menu. That being said, it still requires a 'cold boot' of the game.
I have no idea what this is, but I don't know if it works like the PS4 does.

They'll probably fix it in post.

It sounds like instead of quick resume, they just allowed you to skip the PS5 main menu if you only play two games. So instead of having to stop playing Fortnite and pressing a button to go to the main menu to boot up Madden, you now can just press a button and it will quit Fortnite and boot up Madden.

Xbox is going in a direction where everything becomes a service because that's what Microsoft as a whole wants, Sony is going in the direction of growing IPs and cross promotion.
You got to have worthwhile IPs before you can grow them. Sony have abandoned almost all of their IPs other than Horizon, TLOU (which they've completely ruined), GOW, and Spider Man I guess. They killed Japan Studio and thus anything associated with that got axed, and have done nothing with anything else. I haven't even heard anything about Gran Turismo in a while and those used to be Sony's killer apps on their consoles and guaranteed to sell. Heck, Sony outright shot down a Days Gone sequel, so that series is probably stillborn. The only real high point they've had IP wise recently is Ghost of Tsushima.

Gran Tourismo is getting an installment on PS5.

Horizon, God of War, Ghosts of Tsushima, Spiderman, pretty much all did better than all their previous IPs combined, an in house first party game outside of GT never got close or over the 10 million sold mark. Ratchet and Clank just came out so it's a bit early to tell. Sony is still wanting more Soulsborne games to come to the PS5 so it's expected that we'll get a DES 2 or a Bloodborne sequel or remaster at some point.

If Ratchet sells they'll see that there's demand for 3d platformers, They've already started hinting at a Sly Cooper revival after people found the Easter egg in Ratchet and Clank since the RYNO launches weapons and items from series that will have an installment on the PS5.

They'll be eventually pushing the Legend of heroes series once the anime gets more into production. They've helped funded the last 5 games, so it's probably going to get a greater positiion of prominence in the future.

Bullshit metric considering most of their dormant IPs are from a time when games didn't sell nearly as much as today.
You can look it up, PS4 was the first sony console that had multiple first party titles on the top selling games for the system. GT was the only one that somewhat regularly made it back in the day but nothing else came close.

Something like Ape escape would have antiquated mechanics considering the dual shock layout became the standard for all future controllers and many of it's spinning QTE things to capture the apes would come off as tedious or intrusive. They would need to change the capture mechanics majorly so they're either streamlined or the apes pose a different type of challenge to capture that doesn't rely on QTE events. They're essentially moving collectibles for the most part that follow a path, akin to the Spyro Egg Thieves. But you have to make a whole game based around that concept without it becoming tedious or annoying.

Mechanically something like Gravity Rush never really was refined and had a ton of major rough spots. Both games had most of the moves be useless and had Kat handle like a brick. The second game had increased ground combat but that again was a useless addition and both games had the issue of the side quests being total ass. However it's looking like Both Spiderman and Ratchet and Clank refined most of the movement mechanics when it's coming to mid air movement and repositioning similar to what GR had. If anything a studio like Insomniac could do another GR game.

Nobody really cared about Sackboy and LBP was deemed shitty very early on in the PS3's lifecycle and it still remains to this day that LBP never really found major success like the other IPs despite having more installments than most.

It's looking like Sly or Jak may be the first to return though. They have been rumored to be shopping around Jak to other studios.

Yeah, that does sound like a lot of work for "just throw it in an open world" or "just press up and press a button between cutscenes" Sony, for sure.

I was shooting the shit with a gamestop manager I’ve known for years yesterday. Apparently they haven’t gotten a single ps5 or Xbox X in the store since launch. I know that there’s a chip shortage but jesus christ. Right when games that look interesting start coming out and I get a fat tax refund too…

there are predictions that chip shortage will go on till next year. doubt it's gonna happen, but I want to see sony/ms have absolutely no hardware available during black friday/christmas season and scalper smugposting on twitter and facebook.

Not really when you factor in that the majority of console gamers do not buy used at all anymore and go digital, probably out of convenience. The fact that they don't look outside Gamestop might be a contributing factor to them going digital too, but I'd bet it has more to do with the consoomer urge to get something right at midnight and not that they are worried about price.

Even still, Gamestop dying had a lot of factors to it not just used game sales.
A big problem with Gamestop is lack of inventory and a refusal to drop prices
>go in store
>“Hey I’m looking for old game X”
>”oh we don’t have that, but can order it for full price”
>available online for a third of that
Yeah, no shit people don’t want to shop at Gamestop.

Here’s hoping that isn’t the case. I knew things were going to be bad in December when my grandmother asked me if I could help her find one for another grandkid and I tried explaining how these bots worked. That, the thing with the gamestop inventory, and shit coming out that interests me finally made it all hit home for me. We are 7 months in at this point, the consoles have apparently sold millions already, and yet I only know one person that’s managed to get one. This is insane.

Sounds about right, my local Target has been empty of them since launch as well, wouldn't surprise me if they've not got a single one, I haven't even bothered bothered to check elsewhere.

It is insane, remember people freaked out about PS2 and PS3 shortages back in the day? Those were nothing compared to this.

I think it's a combination of two things, the chip shortage of course, but also scalpers becoming more common thanks to people being bigger assholes these days than before.

Wasn't The Amazing Lucas supposed to be anti-SJW? Love how he's playing the race card because SONY screwed him.

He should be, but I think he's playing up the angle with the deluge of marketing that "Sony loves black people" -- when that clearly isn't the case in his example.

Optimistic, I know.
