Sony is killing off Japan Studio, the people behind Ape Escape -

The Playstation brand is pretty much no different from the Xbox brand at this point, both publishing mainly western games with only a pinch of "western-approved" japanese games.
Xbox doesn't put out any games though.

For Sony to be like Xbox they'd have to not be making any games.

Microsoft buys shit up just to sit on it for eons, Sony doesn't do that and instead puts stuff out.

RIP Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice Delta, Ape Escape and Patapon, you were fun games
They only put out Soul Sacrifice because they couldn't get Monster Hunter.

People in general hated Gravity Rush even after they spent a bunch on the anime. God of War 2018 did better in japan than gravity Rush did.

People keep wishing this to be true, but in reality if it was they would have done a whole lot more than just close japan Studio just to open up a different japanese studio.

Their whole favortism for 3rd person adventure games include 3d platformers, so if they wanted to have everything be Uncharted they wouldn't be having Ratchet and God of War Ragnarok coming out.
Problem is aside from god of war and ratchet the uncharted series (the one that makes the most money) is basically a shitty knockoff of the PoP sands of time trilogy but with the only good of having a less spazzy camera angles and depending on who you ask either some people love or hate it

Ubisoft killed everything awhile ago that wasn't Asscreed, Tom Clancy or Farcry.

So it's like if someone is willing to take up the mantle and do something in a similar vein, that's perfectly fine. Uncharted kinda went to shit after 3 though. And I never really cared for Uncharted 1 either.

Ubisoft is still sitting on fucking Riven and won't remaster it.

I bought Gravity Rush I did my part! I hope they end up getting good third party work at least
You bought gravity Rush, but did you get Gravity Rush Remastered's physical edition for the PS4?

Sony is the fucking shits and I'll never understand their fanboys. They just want to make glorified movies now, it hasn't ever been more obvious.
I don't think the movie thing is true, God of War 2018 was not a movie like how Uncharted was. neither was Horizon. Both of those games gave you a ton of freedom to explore while Uncharted kept you on a narrow path being dragged along. Both are about on par with yakuza in terms of player controlled sections and cinematics.

Not surprising since Sony only seems interested in either making TLOU-likes (God Of War), or Ubishit clones (Days Gone, Horizon, Ghost of Sushi) anymore. Can't have any games anymore that don't involve boring slow walky talky moments, parental themes, depressing stories, or worst of all their idea of climbing "mechanics". The writings been on the wall ever since Ueda left, then Toyama, then the producer for Bloodborne and Nioh 2. Wouldn't be surprised to see Media Molecule get the axe next.

This is really bad news as the rumor was they were working on a new Silent Hill.

Fucking rat bastards. I was hoping we'd see a Ape Escape Remaster or at least a re-release somewhere in the future, but this confirms Sony doesn't care about Ape Escape anymore.
I love Ape Escape but to be fair the third game was so good that I don't really see what more could have been done with the series after it, I was never surprised we never got a 4th game as 3 seemed to take the premise as far as it could go.

I would rather have a series bow out gracefully by ending on a high note than keep dragging on till they start to suck.

However there might be hope for pop given the sands of time remake there making which apparently has whole lots of drama surrounding it from the studio that's making being a pajeets division of ubi using bot accounts allegedly due to the negative reception the trailer for the remake received and the fact that the game has been delayed from the January to march and now it's delayed indefinitely meaning it's either a shit sign for the route this game is going member it's ubisoft and the fact that it looks like shit or they pull 180 and it's on par with re2 remake I still have a glimmer of hope for it

Since when has a video game adaptation ever been good?
Never unless its predictably mediocre at best. That won't stop the MSM from claiming TLOU for HBO+/whatever is the greatest thing ever and claiming its a hit since its a lot easier to falsify that shit through streaming.

The TV series exist as vehicles for the games though. That's why some games like Horizon got released on PC, it's to drive interest in the series so people will go and buy a console for a sequel.

They're not existing to spite the games, they exist to advertise the games themselves.

It's a modern day large budget version of Captain N or Super Mario brothers Super Show.

They're making a TLOU series for streaming... If that shit goes well (and its easy as fuck to manipulate appeal in streaming compared to TV) they might be stupid enough to make TLOU3 to "spite" the haters.
There's probably going to be a TLOU3 eventually.

Fucking Siren is the most underrated and under appreciated horror series out there, eat shit and die sony.
I was a HUGE fan of PS2 era survival horror games but even I couldn't get into Siren, it was too obtuse and difficult even for me and I'm a huge fan of Rule of Rose (which was also technically a Sony first party game, but only released by Sony in Japan)

However it did have a great sense of style and I've been meaning to go back and give it another try one day, as it's one of the few PS2 era horror games I haven't beaten, I'm also really bummed the US never got the sequel as I've heard it's a big improvement.

It seems like it'd be a cool IP to bring back for the PS5, but nope.

Did Dreams flop? You could tell they thought Dreams was going to be the biggest thing since sliced bread but it seems like it came and went, so I wouldn't be surprised if Media Molecule goes next.

Siren: New Translation is a pretty good, streamlined reimagining of the original.
