Movies and Games don't have the same people running the show in any instance. They have different qualifications for ratings and very different standards because of the different organizations who are staffing them.
So, since Sony basically produced the movie, by your logic
So, Sony is ok with violence, sex and gore in anime, but Sony is not ok with sex, violence and gore in anime games....

Sony should start censoring their own games starting with FGO, just look at Abigail

Sony did the distribution for Demon Slayer via Aniplex.

They don't have unified standards for every branch of the company either, that does not exist. The big push for anime is coming from Yoshida who is the CEO of sony overall and who OK'd the Crunchyroll and kadokawa deal.

And if you're the film distributor, you can introduce cuts to the film to make it reach the target age you are going to market your movie.... snip-snip

EIRIN views Demon Slayer as a film that 12 years old and up can stomach, even with the violence. Even with the base subject material, I don't see Demon Slayer will reach an EIRIN rating of G or a Cero rating of A. Why Sony is meddling with games to censor them, that the game will still be rated Cero B, with or without the "offensive" material in it.

For the same reason why none of the Ninja Turtles TV series and games resembled the mirage comics, they want as broad an audience as possible, so they're not putting stuff in that would have a chance to hamper that. There's Japanese parental groups who will take any popular thing and throw it under the bus if it's deemed too controversial.

The game is pretty much the equivalent of the NES TMNT game, it's a rush job to get it out there because there's demand in the market but currently nobody is supplying. Ofcourse it's still considered the worst and better games like Manhattan project and Turtles in Time would come later but the original sold some insane high amount.

Not to mention there is that Kill La Kill arena fighter from Cyberconnect2 on Switch.
That was ArcSys.
And yes the same thing happened with both Dragonball and Naruto they did add amputated arms back in when it was brought over to other territories.
This isn't true. Dragon Ball games consistently do not have dismemberment (Future Gohan has never been depicted in a game outside of a shitty PS2 game with one arm, and that game was American iirc) and in the case of Naruto I distinctly remember long-sighing when Naruto and Sasuke had void black arms in Storm 4.

Matsuyama is a guy who's gone on-record as saying he loves gore (go watch .hack//Trilogy or see pre-release Asura's Wrath materials) so it probably kills him that they're so arbitrarily restrictive.

The game looks pretty awesome

It reminds me of the old SNK fighters like Samuri Showdown if they made it to the 3d era.

Not sure I agree there. It seems like they could have done a lot more with the series than produce a generic fighting game out of it.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I swore a few of the Ultimate ninja Naruto games had stuff remade once it got to other territories.

They're intending on eventually doing other genres for the series. The arena fighter is first because it takes the least time to develop.

As far as I'm aware (as someone who is an obsessive CC2 fan) the Ultimate Ninja games had less gore than the successive Storm games did. The three bloodiest things in those games are Mifune's ultimate, one Obito's ultimate, and the Storm 4 story segment playing as Obito where you brutally murder Rain ninja. Even then, in all of these instances, the blood is black. Same thing happens in the JoJo games by CC2 as well. DIO gets both his arms blasted off in Eyes of Heaven in a cutscene and they're still there, just black like in Storm 4.

Damn here I thought they kept it normal blood for the US release because that's how I remember them being on the wii, but you're right they're still black and not red.

Nintendo of America has always been gay from the start, but this affected americans games and localizations of japanese games, including 1st & 3rd parties. The 3DS/Wii U era was also infamous when it comes to Treehouse's hijinks between the western releases of Xenoblade X, Fatal Frame V, Fire Emblem 3DS, etc.

Whereas Sony (with the SIE headquarters set in California) actively hunt down 3rd-party japanese games made for the home japanese market if they don't comply with "american sensibilities", even when the game was never intended to have a western release. And those developers are forced to submit their games for review to Sony of America's review board - in English, and during American business hours - to get approval on Sony's platform. But the main problem is that there are no written guidelines on what is and is not covered under the policy, therefore, no actual listings of what a game dev might do or not do under said policy. This functionally means that games are simply denied certification based on qualifications that the Sony's "standards & practices" office is refusing to detail to developers. This is the same behavior shown by the major social media companies that can be openly biased in their policy enforcement.

Since the Playstation brand is significantly losing ground in Japan for various reasons already cited above (the censorship strikes, the globalized western X/O button layout, the PS5 marketing more targeted towards non-japanese users, etc) and the extremely poor sale performances of the PS5 (that are below the numbers of the Wii U, a console considered a failure everywhere including Japan) are likely to piss off the large publishers. Hence why Sony fanboys are getting even more desperate for damage control lately and pretending everything is 大丈夫.

@Exbein detailed a bit already, but Sony has past records of censoring and refusing games in Japan too although nowhere to the extent and intensity of the californian branch now in charge of the PS brand since a few years ago.
The Playstation losing traction in Japan has nothing to do with those and everything to do with the limited living space there. Handhelds are king in the Japanese market * It's very telling that of the big 3 only the Switch is selling well in that region. * that's the reason Sony started prioritizing the western market with the PS4.

if its about cero ratings, let the rating boards decide. Why the fuck Sony is trying to do their job?

some publishers are ok with their games being rated Cero D or Cero Z, by the things are going, I think PS4 is the last time we'll be seeing ecchi games for the playstation

The truth is they are just strong-arming the relatively small money makers or anime games from IPs they own. I bet that Sony will never ever dare touch FGO, specially when they have "troubling" designs like Helena, Abigail, Wu.
View attachment 1946074
Mind you, that is an official art of Helena in FGO, and you can get it in the game. Even the Japanese analyst pointed out the hypocrisy of Sony that they are pushing for censorship but doesn't start with its own garden by censoring FGO. That's just peak Sony bullying small publishers.
The new Guilty Gear game that's releasing exclusively on PS4/5 just revealed a big tiddy witch with her tits practically hanging out as it's final launch character and that new KOF already confirmed Mai will be in it with her classic outfit that also has her tits hanging out and Capcom is still selling dlc outfits that let you dress Chun Li and friends like whores.

Seems fanservice will still be on the PS5 for the foreseeable future.

Iirc canonically, one of the the only two ways to kill a demon for certain is to chop their head entirely off with a fancy sword.
Isn't that kind of an issue? The main character chops arms left and right.
Even the first demon they fight.

Isn't FGO published by a completely different division of Sony in Japan?

The "limited living space" meme didn't stop the PS4 over there though, by ranking above the PS Vita itself with 10M. But Sony didn't just prioritize the western market, it straight up abandoned the nippon country with the PS5 (analytics are expecting Nintendo to have a literal monopoly on the game market in Japan, considering its performance from last year and how hard Playstation is falling behind). The recent disbandment of Japan Studio also gives another message the japanese folks aren't really welcome on Playstation as anything but third-rate customers, with westaboos being the least affected by the globalization changes.

It's also been proven that certain games from (generally smaller) publishers do not get the same treatment as the bigger ones, such as DMC5 received an uncensor patch after it surpassed the 2 million of software sales worldwide for example. Fanservice won't exist on Playstation except from a few selected titles and it's not even a guarantee either these days.

There will be japanese games on the new Playstation system, that's an undeniable fact I cannot refute. The real question is will there be only AAA jap titles (Yakuza, the new Tales of, Final Fantasy, etc.) contributing on PS5 and mainly catering for the western market to recoup the development costs? Will those devs be fooled by mainstream game journalists, twittards and resetera-fags into false narratives?

Isn't FGO published by a completely different division of Sony in Japan?

It's published by Sony Music Entertainment Japan (Aniplex, etc.) which acts as a separate entity from SIE. However, I've heard SIE is trying to get that one division under their own branch, but don't take my word for it.

capcom is big enough to tell sony to fuck off before they take their franchises somewhere else.
