Sony - The Elephant In The Room

And I am off on a tangent. The point is Japan has been lied too by the idiot's out of California they hired to handle their US based economic interests.
But will they start screaming if they are about to lose a major IP in the West?

Dude Nintendo has no content censorship at all. All Nintendo requires is your game to be rated.
They were pretty bad back in the days, now they make softporn touchie games themself.

I can see the Austists at sony going after Funi People.
Sony Japan is also pretty pissed off by Sony US because of the whol.e fuckn SJW crap. they are losing bussines to everybody else because Sony US sperged out about needing more censorship. they are worse than Nintento right now.
Do we actually have proof that Sony Japan has spoken out about Sony USA’s bullshit? I thought it was just external Japanese companies who do business with Sony who’ve spoken out

My understanding was that the japanese versions of the games were censored as well as quite a few of the people complaining about it on twitter were japanese. I could be wrong though.

I knew that, but I’ve never heard about any Japanese Sony employees speaking out, just Japanese and American fans and Japanese Devs/Pubs who get release games on Sony’s consoles

That’s what I was thinking, aren’t Japanese NDAs supposed to be airtight, which is kinda why stories like the Anthem dev diaries are way rarer from Japanese devs?

From what we know, this. It's apparently an open secret in the anime community that Funimation's HR is non-existent and they allowed several cases of workplace harassment to go unresearched according to their Glassdoor reviews.
Glassdoor reviews are bullshit, though.
Literally anybody can lie and say they worked somewhere they didn't, unless it's changed since the last time I used it.

Glassdoor reviews can sometimes be a very entertaining read.

They will need some serious dirt to go after Sony. Not going to discount the possibility but big companies like Sony create or buy subsidiary corporations like Funimation for this very reason. If there really is a bridge from Funimation to Sony it's possible Funi settles quick and hangs the VAs out to dry.
That would also depend on how involved Sony actually is with this whole thing. If all they did was just instigate the investigation on Funi's side, then they'll probably just give Vic the money they owe and try to nip it before the idiot trio make things worse for both Funimation and them.

However, based on Sony and how they've been wrapped up in previous controversies, like the Emoji Movie's mitigated failure, the whole "Fembusters" thing and the shit the gaming division's American branch is pulling by influencing how games are developed for all releases, they easily could have done more than just the investigation. Which means it's entirely possible some people within Sony's own ranks have beef with Vic like the Funimation guys. And if that comes to light, I wouldn't be at all surprised when or if the Vic supporters start trying to dig up info about Sony's employees and who actually got the investigation going in the first place assuming they haven't already tried doing so already.

Fuck yes, they will. They're not about to miss out on printing 'Fuck You, Fuck me, and all of the Board Room' Money™.

Chalk it up to a few key members of the developers themselves being Nippon stans who explained very clearly to their superiors that gamers will buy titty games in their franchise skins as long as they don't fucking rip away the ability to see the whole tiddy.

Soyny has made so many utterly idiotic and SJW-based disastrously money-losing decisions lately that I find it hard to believe they haven't gone full SJW at some executive level.

While I love the idea of the evil corporate overlords swooping down and putting an end to this bullshit, it's entirely possible they're responsible for it in the first place.

Toei is much more likely to pull their properties or exert pressure than Sony imo, unless Sony's legal department has the clout to see absolute stupidity and actually say no, this stops here.

Sony overlords are Autists that get bullied by SJWs in the west, but they are still old Japanese with their strange culture, they dont understand how this problem works but they understand when they lose money(not realy why, but they know WHO lost the money).

thats against their culture, they will not spite sony japan with something like that without massive amounts of talks.

It's not spite, it's their primary property being fucked up and they have a history of not putting up with that.

My guess is, if things get too heated they may try selling off the funimation brand to someone else or will close it out entirely and fire everyone since Aniplex is ready and capable to absorb all of Funimation's duties. This could now leave all the former heads of Funimation on the hook entirely without Sony's help. Sony could just go "we didn't like what was going on and we decided to close the division entirely because of it". Just do a News of the World style 100% Overnight Shutdown.

Nick made the observation that Sabat's studio tour (The "Prince of all Saiyans" tour) was stopped because Toei actually got in touch with him and told him he couldn't use their IP for it. It's a viable possibility, and Japanese companies have been known to mess with non-Japanese companies if they aren't happy with what they're doing. From what I understand, Funimation has not been doing too well in terms of pleasing their Japanese overlords the past few years; while some of the Dragonball stuff has been a commercial success, one Toei suit is reported to have said that "American and Canadian companies butcher our product in a way we will never understand". I believe he was partially referencing the "gamergate" bullshit one of these airheads put into a dubbed anime (it was around the time), but I could be wrong.

Would they fuck with Sony in Japan? Unlikely. Many of these suits are old-time executives, and they still follow a form of bushido in the board room. Unless someone really fucks with their product and gives them a black eye, they'll do a lot of talking. It's a cultural thing. Asians tend to take a very long-term outlook on things, much more than Westerners do.

There was something even smaller than that. The patches with Bulma's image and KickVic existed for less than 24 hours. Overnight the same night they appeared a DMCA killed them dead in the water. You can find small things like this constantly, but such a tiny insignificant product being gone after so incredibly fast is mind blowing.

The idea of Sony Japan deciding to night of long knives the entire Sony US executive team for all US departments over the censorship stuff with a heaping helping of "Funi what the fuck is this shit you lost us millions of dollars for no reason" gives me a huge hard on, but I can't see it happening for at least a year (which is very optimistic) and I'd guess Vic would be a secondary factor at best.

Inertia is a hell of a drug for large corporations, and typically changes would be likely after stockholders pitch an open revolt over numerous bad earnings reports from the video game division (which IIRC is kind of keeping Sony afloat but that info may be out of date). Even then they might not identify the actual cause.

If I had to guess, we'd need a minimum of 1 year of margin impinging depressed sales from the video game division that starts within a month or two of the great burka-ing, and combine that with the Vic situation going extremely poorly for Funi and by association Sony. Vic can still win (by settlement) and have the outcome not considered to have gone "extremely poorly" at a corporate level for Sony that nighttime knife play at the US division is necessitated, depending on the level of terrible press and monetary loss for Sony (for example if Sony isn't actually financially hit due to Funi needing to pay Vic but it's not enough that Sony gets hit up for the bill, and there isn't a bunch of bad press directly impacting Sony).

My more realistic guess is any night of long knives would come after a disastrous PS5 launch, and have more to do with that being an unmitigated disaster due to their former Limited Edition and Titty Game crowd not showing up than Vic/Funi. Sony will probably sever with Funi and let them ride to oblivion solo at the first chance they get in the hopes of quietly minimizing damages.

That's just a bunch of guessing though.

Just remember that Nintendo used to be the punching bag with regards to game censorship, and note how long it took for them to reverse course.
