Has anyone's employer actually said this?

In my experience HR may say 'Don't discuss promotions' here and there but that's usually when nothing is confirmed and they'll announce it when the details are worked through but it's fairly common knowledge that your pay is linked to how experienced in the job you are.

Poutine version just uploaded on tumblr, no facebook
[/spoiler]

What world does LaBelle live in where you can ask any two people out of nowhere if they're a couple and they won't find you extremely off-putting? A man and a woman who are friends will take that in stride, but a little boy and girl will gag and think you're gross if you assume they're boyfriend and girlfriend. Any two people will be like "Why the fuck would you say that?"

As a blue collar worker, it's been my experience it's an unwritten rule among the workers as no one wants to deal with the drama of someone being offended because they're a slacker and you busted your ass to earn more. The only people that would do it are people like Billy boy here to make themselves feel superior to others.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying.

What I was talking about was this insane premise that 'people assume girl/boy friendships are romantic' and highlight 'society's heterosexism and homophobia', and then her putting it in comic form in a way that is literally how a girl/boy friend pair would react to the assumption that they're an item. In real life.

LaBelle is basically saying that people are only offended by the idea of calling them gay, which (in this context) isn't true. Anybody who introduces you to a new friend and is immediately asked "So you're an item?" is going to be anything between confused and pissed. She seems to be implying that if a boy and a girl are friend and are introduced they would be totally okay with being asked if they were going out. (I am speaking exclusively in context of the situation in the comic.) They're going to wonder why you said that. They're also probably going to wonder what's wrong with you. Unless you have a specific rapport with the person where this comes off as a joke, the natural response is not "lol yeah we have compatible genitals don't we? I forgive your assumption", it's going to be "Why the fuck did you say that?" Gay, straight, or otherwise, people will be put off by you assuming that kind of thing.

LaBelle says at the end 'also don't assume romantic statuses', but that's not her point. Her point is that the boys are offended at the accusation of being gay and that's homophobic, as opposed to them being offended that instead of even saying "Oh, hi, I'm Stephie!" she goes straight to "SO YOU'RE GOING OUT, RIGHT?", and then gets offended that for some reason they were offended. It could've been him introducing his new friend Jenny and it would be just as weird and uncomfortable and just as justified in walking away.

Sex toys will never surpass human bodies, and as for "trans bodies" I want to cite Jazz Jenning's tube mantits and Kevin Gibes' rot pocket as examples of why nobody wants to fuck you. These examples aren't one time anomalies, this is how trans bodies are. Even on this site there are countless trannies with fucked up bodies, and those are the dumb ones who post about it on the internet.
