As a blue collar worker, it's been my experience it's an unwritten rule among the workers as no one wants to deal with the drama of someone being offended because they're a slacker and you busted your ass to earn more. The only people that would do it are people like Billy boy here to make themselves feel superior to others.Has anyone's employer actually said this?
In my experience HR may say 'Don't discuss promotions' here and there but that's usually when nothing is confirmed and they'll announce it when the details are worked through but it's fairly common knowledge that your pay is linked to how experienced in the job you are.
What world does LaBelle live in where you can ask any two people out of nowhere if they're a couple and they won't find you extremely off-putting? A man and a woman who are friends will take that in stride, but a little boy and girl will gag and think you're gross if you assume they're boyfriend and girlfriend. Any two people will be like "Why the fuck would you say that?"
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Its something that happens on TV for gags. Presumably TV world.
What I was talking about was this insane premise that 'people assume girl/boy friendships are romantic' and highlight 'society's heterosexism and homophobia', and then her putting it in comic form in a way that is literally how a girl/boy friend pair would react to the assumption that they're an item. In real life.
