South China Sea and Chinese Military Developments - While everyone is distracted by the pandemic, China's aggression in the SCS grows.

Australia is a colony of whoever has a big enough navy to protect it. China isn't in charge yet. They're simply stealing everything they can while the Aussies watch out for drop bears.
Chinese don't really think they could imvade the emus right? Have fun dealing with abo crackheads too. They can sniff a ciggie miles away.

Why invade and take over militarily when it's so much cheaper to buy everything that isn't nailed down?
Buy lots of land, build businesses, leave the aussies holding the tax bill, make all your businesses hq'd in china to minimize tax liability. Increase the amount of naval control you have towards AUS to ensure your people can count on supplies and trade, now you can start thinking about negotiating tarriffs and such. The commonwealth seems to feel too guilty about the old empire to stand up for its interests.
U.S. isn't much better. Pretty much every western country is stuck handwringing about past wrongs and trying to pretend they love all these values, all while China does everything it can to create its own empire 100 years after it stopped being cool to do so. Now with the odd, turbocucked U.S. military we may never see strongarming going on in the SCS. For a while they seemed unwilling to let them leapfrog and build islands out, but that chance is no longer available. I fear for what happens is the chinese sphere of control expands further. How much will institutional corruption affect trade if they can bait n' switch even after stuff leaves the ports? (I don't know much about shipping, so all this is likely nonsense.)

We have a sizable navy for our population needs. We're responsible for protecting the vast majority of the South Pacific, because whilst we don't have US numbers (numbers wise I think US numbers sit at 0.1% pop and we're at 0.05%), we have good quality fleets and highly trained officers. Our navy is also the most skilled in the region when it comes to the vastness of the area and the differences in climate (from Equator to Antarctica).
So we don't need protecting per se, just alliances, which we certainly have in spades.

New Zealand on the other hand, has fuck all and is a useless floating shithole who depends on Australia for everything.
They have like 8 ships and 2000 personnel. We should just absorb them and remove that brain dead horseface in command.

I wouldn't be so gungho about a "lack" of Chinese influence in the US either. For instance - they own your major meatpacking plants and a decent slice of farms, as well as having its fingers in some strategic water supplies in the US. This is just to name a few major issues.
The US is very bought by China. Which is why, like Australia, we must remove them. China is everyone's enemy and no one is in a fantastic position against them.

Meanwhile, this had been going on for much of April :

The main issue will be these South East Asian countries, like Malaysia, who have a de-facto tie to China.

What was bad about the British Empire again?

The Australian ABC has been running stories about anti-Chinese racism nearly every day.

They are even phishing for for it:
Racism amid COVID-19 pandemic: The ABC wants to hear your story
Australia prides itself as a successful multicultural country built on waves of migration post-World War II.

But a growing number of people in the Asian community are speaking out about how they have been verbally and physically assaulted, refused service or had their properties damaged since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently in Melbourne, a Chinese-Australian family's home was targeted by vandals three times in one week and the culprit remains at large.

That family reported the incident to the police, but experts believe there are many more racist attacks that have not been reported because they do not know the legal avenues or it's too hard to prove.

The Australian Human Rights Commission receives just a few dozen racial discrimination complaints every month, but one in four people who lodged complaints in recent months say they were targeted due to COVID-19.

If the chinks start WW3, they might force the Chinese grad students to go home, and then there'd be more funding for me and other Americans.

So I say fuck them, blow their fleet up and nuke their cities.
Also like a bunch of colleges in the US shutting down because no more international student fee and "donations". Colleges regularly charge 2 or 3x more fees to internationals. On the plus side it will likely trim off the bullshit degrees.

The ABC should be defunded. They're Chinese propaganda.
:story: I tried to offer them my story of "Racism" amid Covid-19. Sadly they don't like it when it's their side doing the racism.

Insiders should be punted off the face of the earth. Did you see all the whining when they had their echo chamber cracked open? Everyone was a-bloo-bloo-blooing because they dared to invite someone from the IPA.

The "economic" taskforce for re-opening Australia is headed up by the yellow cocksucking Fortescue Metals guy.
He was proposing a "travel and trade bubble" with NZ, Australia and... China, FFS.

In South China Sea news :
Vietnam rejects China’s “unilateral decision” to ban fishing in the South China Sea from May 1 to August 16, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said in a statement posted on the government’s website.

Vietnam has sovereignty over its waters as defined by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Hang said. “Vietnam asks China not to further complicate the situation in the South China Sea,” she said.

This + the cutting off of the Mekong water supply is going to be a massive long term issue for Vietnam and yet it barely raises a blip on the radar.

Minority report: what if massive backlash and possible conflict would be enough to galvanize Russia into action? A western (US) hegemony is demonstrably bad for them, which just might be incentive enough to back the chinks should push come to shove, and we all know Russia knows how to win wars. Even after decades of stagnation, they're still leagues above pretty much every non-US military. Depending on your perspective you could even see the Russian backing of Al-Assad as precedent for this orthodox contrarian position.

Russia, China and Mongolia did do that big training a year ago:

So I wouldn't put it past them, it's a possibility. It might even be a big return:
