Which one is funnier? Which is smarter more tasteful? Id have to go with South Park myself.
While both shows are pretty crude and offensive, I feel South Park makes more of an effort to be good and have an actual plot. Family Guy is just a lot of silly and juvenile cut away gags, that without the series couldn't be funny. I also think Family Guy is more racist and sexist than Family Guy. Women seem to be sexually degraded on it a lot, and only young and attractive ones are portrayed as attractive worthwhile people ( see Lois v. everyone hating Meg.) I also think they sort of make fun of black people in sort of a silly juvenile and offensive way. Also, it references a lot of stupid, silly obscure things, that no one who was not a teenager in 1985 would understand.

South Park may have more "gross out potty humor" but I think its better over all. Thoughts?

South Park, which actively tries to make a point in its satire (skewering both sides), while Family Guy is mostly left-wing propaganda that often trips itself up in the process as it tries to satirize.

I'm pretty darn bored with both to be honest. If I had to pick one it would be South Park, because they know how to write an actual joke.

I stopped watching Family Guy when they completely replaced jokes with cultural references like they were the same thing.

South Park started out pretty stupid, but over time they found their stride and the social commentary that they edged into the crude humor has gained a measure of subtlety and finesse. Really, it was a very necessary change, as they couldn't ride for close to 20 seasons just on shock and gross-out humor.

Family Guy is much the same way where it started out kind of awful but it eventually found their own kind of humor. Unfortunately, the formula has since lost any novelty and has simply gotten stale. I don't think that it's trying to be smarter than it is, Seth McFarlane seems to realize that the humor is stupid and crude, it's just that some of his (mostly) liberal ideas tend to show in his work.

So if I had to choose, I'd have to pick Archer. My god that show is amazing.

Robot Chicken isn't quite as big on satire, and while they have a huge share of shock/gross-out/sexual humor, they at least have good writing and are often very funny ("Law & Order: KFC", for instance, is completely hilarious and yet also one of the cleanest in terms of sex and language)

South Park. Family Guy gets a chuckle or two but South Park has so many unforgettable episodes.
