I hope Lola is in this one too so I can pop some b*ners like when I was a kid.

You realize that if she's in the film, then it'll most likely be the version from The Looney Tunes Show that's dumb and not as attractive.

< Will this stud be in it???

In seriousness, I never cared for the original. I'd have to give it a rewatch but it probably won't hold up.

As a kid I loved the original, and that's probably what they're hoping for... Adults who'll remember how awesome the movie was and bring their own children to see the sequel or is it a reboot? Looking back the movie was okay. Michael Jordan did a good job and the animation was great. But I don't expect this one to do as good as the first movie. Lebron is no doubt a better basketball player then an actor.

Trust me it’ll be an even harder rewatch if you don’t have nostalgia for it.

And if you grew up watching the classic Looney Tunes from the 30s all the way up to the mid 50s, well it feels like an imitation, a very bland one.

I hope Michael comes back just so he can dab on Lebron.

The original Space Jam was a kid's movie with some shit added in for adults. It worked because the Looney Tunes were still prominent in the 90s, and for some reason basketball was everywhere.

I can't see this being anything more than le ebin nostalgia trip for 90s kids, and even then it'll probably be a steaming pile.

I’m not a big sports buff but even I know Basketball was better in the 90s. Players dunked far more often which is just far more fun to see, refs allowed a hell of a lot more nasty fouls than they do today, and fans were maniacs which made the parking lots dangerous but jeez it made the environment and talking about B-Ball far more entertaining.

Most of all the teams were far more balanced. It’s a joke that the Golden State Warriors could amass so much talent, they’ve essentially been the Harlem Globetrotters for the past 5 years. Overall there’s basically 6 teams this year that have a likelihood of being the Champions, and that’s pathetic compared to every other American Pro League. Only thing casual fans care about now is GSW and Lebron.

Yup, the NBA isn’t what it used to be. I need a Monster Ultra.

Meh. It's just seems like one of those other stupid cash grab ideas studios have come up with for some years now. They are so afraid of new things and new ideas that they always try to fall back on older films and concepts believing it will be a sure way to make some bucks by cashing on nostalgia and the stupidity of the population.

They did it with Star Wars, they gave a movie to Jem and the Holograms (yes, seriously), they made a sequel to Ghostbusters, to Jurassic Park and to a lot of other 90's movies... and now it's Space Jam turn. It's a nostalgia movie for a lot of people and the studios must believe it's a safe bet because of that fact.

But mark my word : it will be a disapointing movie.
Because of a lot of reasons. : First because either the studios will try to copy too hard the original movie (which is a stupid idea because the film was good because it was a product of its time... the exact same formula wouldn't work now - decades later) or try distancing itself too much from the first one (like - for example - Ghostbusters 3 which was too far away from what everybody wanted to be liked by anyone in the end). Secondly because Looney Tunes aren't as big as they were so the younger generations will not care about this movie like... at all. Thirdly our generation - the ones knowing who the Looney Tunes are - have grown up since the first movie... even if ome of us still like Space Jam it's because of nostalgia more than anything else. So we will just find this new Space Jam stupid. We aren't in the demographic anymore and without nostalgia to blind us... it will just be a children movie like any other one.

So it's a terrible idea. And I don't see it succeeding at all.

James also noted to THR that when he was growing up, there were no black superheroes.

It's funny to see that even black people fail to remember Wesley Snipes and Blade, despite being a major springboard into Marvel Comics for years.

As for the movie, it's no doubt going to be terrible for aforementioned reasons, namely Looney Tunes aren't as culturally significant as before, and that type of film doesn't work as well as it used to.

And who's involved in this you might ask? You guessed it, J.J. Abrams.
