Dogs drain energy because nearly every single dog breed was created with some form of work in mind, so it takes more personal investment.
Like with the cats thing, where I see a lot of people getting cats who should really just have a rabbit or something, I think a lot of people are really fucking stupid about dogs in the way you just called out. Even as close as my own family, goddammit.
People see a corgi and think "Oh it's small and waddles and it's cute. Should be easy enough." Not realizing that same dog wants to guard and herd. It's not going to be happy in your 600sq ft apartment with two "walks" a day just to take a shit. It wants 10 sheep and the occasional opportunity to fight something larger than itself.

What's sad is when people have those issues they always cry "But I didn't know!" Bitch, you have a machine in your pocket that would give you all the information you need and then some. But no, you just want a cute doggo to torture for TikTok. I do believe anyone has the ability to take care of animals (probably the fourth or fifth trapping of civilization that early humans figured out) but people aren't even trying. Irresponsible.

As for corgis specifically, they'll be fine so long as they have a decent sized yard to run around in and a fairly attentive owner who'll throw a ball with it for a couple hours a day. Ideally they're getting 3 hours a day at least of moderate exercise, so it's possible for most people to care for them provided they're a homeowner. Otherwise, yeah, get a rabbit or something.

Whenever I've encountered a badly behaved dog it's invariably a woman owner/woman primary caregiver. I know there must be shitty dudes with shitty behaved dogs but I cannot deny my lived experience.
Shitty dudes usually make their dogs behave shitty by doing shit like getting big ass (usually backyard bred) dogs leaving them chained up outside or hitting them or refusing to get them fixed. That or they get exotics and shit up the reptile hobby with retardation like free handling venomous snakes or venomoids (imagine cat declawing but somehow even more fucked up).

Women are just who gravitate most to little accessory breeds or wanting to play dog rescuer. When you look at awful owners of different kinds of animals you see a lot more men.

I never quite got the whole "fixing your dog" thing. What is the real difference between a fixed and a normal dog, besides the fact that a fixed dog can't have puppies?

I dunno, it's just a somewhat icky topic for me.

"Fixing" is also a weird term for it. The animal isn't broken. It's castration.
To answer your actual question:
In male dogs, castrating them makes them less likely to mark, and it significantly lowers aggression and roaming. It also completely removes the risk of testicular and prostate cancer because there are no more testicles or prostate. In females it reduces roaming and means they don't go into heat, so the dog and owner don't have to deal with that at all.

To add to this as well, there are too many domesticated dogs. There just aren't enough homes for all the domesticated dogs in the world, and thanks to the domestication the odds of the dogs surviving in the wild are extremely unlikely, if not impossible. Yeah, you can try to control their environment but shit, as always, happens. On top of that, most owners just don't care enough to learn what to do when their family pet becomes pregnant. Put it all together with the above points, and there's no reason to not neuter and spay your pets.

Eh. I personally don't have much of those issues with my dog, who hasn't been neutered. Let's agree to disagree.
Also, has anyone heard of the latest trend of fake animal rescue videos? There was a lot of coverage on it on YouTube back when it was new or at least garnering attention.

A cat with some serious skills.
IIRC that cat died a few years ago.
:semperfidelis:

I found this picture of someone's cats in an emulator, some time ago. it was a bmp, now it's a png.

Speaking of "fixing your dogs", unless you plan on having you cats peeing everywhere or staying pregnant every year, like it was Activision, you should sterilize your cats as well.

I wanted to share with you this guy's channel. He seems to be loving his animals, and by the looks of it has a farm of something. There's also AntsCanada which is going insane, maybe one day we'll see some truly horror shit on his channel.

People who post fake animal rescue videos should legally become indentured servants to an actual animal rescue organization for a year and a day. If you want asspats, go out and fucking earn them. It's like stolen valor's younger even more retarded cousin.

I just hate when lazy fucks want high energy work breed dogs just for their appearance. Those dogs needs training and ways to drain their physical and mental energy. Otherwise, they get destructive and then people just give them up when they can't handle then.
Just get a fucking cat if a dog is too much work. That's why I have one since I know damn well I'm not getting up early on a weekend to take the dog out.

With dogs that are poorly behaved, it's either that they got the dog to intimidate people, possibly as a guard dog and are usually chained up outside all day, or they're a cute little dog someone got because they wanted a glorified teddy bear and don't want the responsibility that being a good dog owner entails (like actually training the dog).

That's why animal shelters end up with a lot of pit bulls and chihuahuas.

I've never had a dog. Is that a normal thing to happen when you first get one? I feel bad for the guy that got his house flooded.
After watching some videos about dog training. Dogs have tendency to do this shit because of separation anxiety.

Behold the war cry of the pugs, you cannot not laugh at this.
It begins at 2:46, and the face of disgust really top it off.

The continual push by """"influencers"""" who make a living or are trying to start a career around pet ownership continually buying new pets without making preparations first, or just working themselves up to having too many pets for any one person to take care of.

They buy new pets likely just for a video, which will likely then be neglected.

How the hell is this guy going to take care of a dolphin?

This shit seems to be getting worse at the same rate those fake animal rescue videos pop up.

Oh man, I hope it doesn't become a trend. There was this one youtube channel where an indian village had a pet snake and would sick it onto local wildlife, only for them to save it at the last minute. It's really sick that they would try to get money by endangering wildlife like that. Not sure if it's still up or not, but I'm aware of it for a few years now.

It's already a trend. Usually you'll see the same person making multiple channels to scrape in even more cash. They'll wound animals repeatedly, likely until death to get more $$$ from each animal.

And Youtube gives no shits.
