What do you mean often beyond their control? It isn't often beyond their control. The entire reason this situation has arisen is because women have a monopoly on reproductive rights and fathers have none.
It is only beyond their control if they were raped, and even then they could have gotten the child aborted. The majority of single mothers are not rape victims. Stop treating adult women like children. Actions have consequences. It is trivially easy to look up the stats of what happens to kids that grow up in single parent households. Any woman who chooses to have a child either alone or with a man they are not married to (and thus legally tied to) is unspeakably selfish and stupid.

Silly bean, feminists don't say that - they want their PhD in gender studies to be as well paid as STEM.

Actually... there's a fairly active Facebook community run by women that is exactly like that, both in Italy and the Czech Republic. Having lived in the first for almost three years and living in the latter for seven now, I know both the languages and can bring them there and translate.

Why does ANYONE want this is beyond me. Working 40+ hours in manufacturing just to come home to kids that hate you and a sexless marriage? How often was the father the actual 'authority' figure instead of being de-facto the mother by virtue of being home all day? I do not see what men got in exchange for all of this.
Instead, we have generations of young men working less and less while still getting more sex than those traditionalist's - which is what we've always wanted anyway. Let women have their careers - they are quickly realizing that men have historically dodged work at every opportunity for a reason.
The children suffer, of course, but let's be real here - does anyone think The Current Year is a sustainable civilization anyway?

There are cases where that's the lesser evil. Reminds me of a friend who grew up with a single mom due to her father having sent the mom and daughters (the youngest being an infant) to the hospital repeatedly. The mom busted her ass to provide for her daughters (since obviously no child support). Could it have been better? Obviously. But things being as they are she did a decent job.
EDIT: If you're wondering why that mom had two children with a violent man: he became an addict while she was pregnant the second time. I mean it's possible that he wasn't the best choice to begin with, but he wasn't violent then.
Very often this type isn't exactly meek and is in fact very demanding. I don't have anything against housewives per se, do what you have to do.
However, lots of women just want to LARP for their own self fulfillment and at the expense of their family.
I know more than one woman that could easily take a weight off their partner's shoulder by taking a job now that the kids are older and in school, but doesn't. Or even better, the ones that have are high school drop outs, but also have the power trip of homeschooling their kids.
The truth is that they do it for themselves. In their home they can do whatever but they get praised for it by their little social media circle jerk. They are only ever in contact with each other, their kids and their husbands, living in their little 50s fantasy.
That's weak imo. Real women do what it takes to care for their family. Be it work or be a housewife, without the attention whoring.
That's actually more of a western liberal thing. In the soviet union for example women were kind of expected to be mothers, homemakers, workers and occasionally soldiers.
The attitude that Russians have today regarding the role of a woman is very much a legacy of communism.
