The Southern Poverty Law Center has fired Morris Dees, the civil rights organization's co-founder and former chief litigator.

Dees, 82, co-founded the Montgomery-based organization in 1971.

SPLC President Richard Cohen said in a statement Dees' dismissal was effective on Wednesday, March 13.

"As a civil rights organization, the SPLC is committed to ensuring that the conduct of our staff reflects the mission of the organization and the values we hope to instill in the world," Cohen said in the emailed statement. "When one of our own fails to meet those standards, no matter his or her role in the organization, we take it seriously and must take appropriate action."

"Today we announced a number of immediate, concrete next steps we’re taking, including bringing in an outside organization to conduct a comprehensive assessment of our internal climate and workplace practices, to ensure that our talented staff is working in the environment that they deserve – one in which all voices are heard and all staff members are respected."

A message seeking further comment was left on Cohen’s cell phone Thursday afternoon, and additional question regarding Dees' termination have been sent to SPLC's press office.

Dees' biography appeared scrubbed from the SPLC's website as news broke of his termination on Thursday afternoon.

The attorney, a Montgomery native, has been a fixture in politics since the group's ascension, though his organization has faced scrutiny in the past.

A 1994 Montgomery Advertiser series provided a deep look into the organization controlled by the multimillionaire Dees, illustrating his near-singular control over the organization and its mammoth budget.

It revealed a figure seen as heroic by some and single-minded by others who criticized Dees as more focused on raising money than fighting injustice.

The series also alleged discriminatory treatment of black employees within the advocacy group, despite its outward efforts to improve the treatment of minorities in the country. Staffers at the time “accused Morris Dees, the center’s driving force, of being a racist and black employees have ‘felt threatened and banded together.’” The organization denied the accusations raised in the series.

Dees' central role in the organization has also led to numerous threats against him, and the Advertiser previously reported that he has 24-hour protection at his home.

Over the years, the SPLC has continued to amass a massive war chest of funds from donors amid differing levels of scrutiny.

In recent years, the organization has become nationally known and scrutinized for its Hatewatch work tracking the rise of hate groups, particularly white supremacists.

It continues to produce research and advocacy on a variety of topics, including payday lending, civil asset forfeiture and immigration rights.

The SPLC also continues its day-to-day civil rights litigation, including an ongoing lawsuit to address prison conditions in Alabama.

“The SPLC is deeply committed to having a workplace that reflects the values it espouses – truth, justice, equity and inclusion, and we believe the steps we have taken today reaffirm that commitment," Cohen said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Given how the SPLC has been used ever more increasingly increasingly as an "official rubber stamp" of bigotry/nazism against everyone who pisses off various journalists and activists, from left wing muslim reformists to schoolkids smiling in public while harassed by black supremecists and boozed up injuns to people who post fucking pepe memes among others, and this guy is not only the co-founder but has long faced accusations of encouraging and supporting this sort of dishonest and cynical chicanery in order to get more donations from terrified rich liberal idiots, the question I have is whether this is a case of somebody desperately trying to clean house and steer the ship away from death by a thousand lawsuits, or whether it is simply that he was not fanatical enough in persecuting the heretics in the eyes of the REEEE mob the SPLC shitshow has been hiring as of late.

Word in jungleland is that its the latter, and this passage from the article seems to hint at just that

The modern day SPLC is just an opportunistic villain wearing the cape of a long dead hero. Sure they had their use in rooting out actual KKK members and neo-nazis back in the 70s and 80s, but nowadays what's left of either groups are just a bunch of meth heads that can't even leave their trailers to tweak up, let alone go out to burn a cross. Now they're just blindly out trying to find new windmills to tilt at in order to justify their own existence and, more importantly, their donations. The sooner this league of crooks disappear, the better

And thus is the eventual fate of all "social justice" movements.

A recently-uncovered court document from the divorce proceedings of a prominent Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) figure alleges horrific conduct on behalf of one of the most influential lawyers in America.

Maureene Dees, ex-wife of SPLC co-founder Morris Dees filed for divorce on March 8, 1979 after a decade-long marriage marred by difficulties, according to an appellant brief obtained by Big League Politics. The brief was filed by Maury Smith, Julia S. Waters and Charles M. Crook, attorneys for Maureene, in the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals:

According to court testimony, among other perverted sexual behavior, Dees attempted to molest his 18-year-old step-daughter with a sex toy. Holly Buck was Maureene Dees’ daughter from a previous marriage.

“Holly testified that, in the summer of 1977, Morris attempted to molest her in the following incident: One night Maureene and Morris were sitting drinking wine and discussing a case Morris was trying,” the brief says. “[Holly] was with them. Around eleven or twelve o’clock, Maureene went to bed and Holly stayed up with Morris discussing the case. Morris kept offering Holly wine, some of which she accepted.”

Holly testified that she declined, choosing to go to bed instead.

“She went to her room and then went into the bathroom,” the document says. “Looking out the window, she saw Morris in the bushes beside the bathroom window looking in. She said ‘Morris, is that you’, but he said nothing and ran away.”

Two months later, things got worse.

“[M]orris entered [Holly’s] room from [Morris and Maureene’s daughter Ellie’s] room, through the bathroom, the document says. “He was in his underwear and he sat on the bed where Holly was lying on her stomach facing away from the door. He touched her on the back and woke her up. He told her that he had brough [sic] her a present, and he presented her with a vibrator. He plugged it in and said he had brought it to her. He proceeded to rub it on her back and said ‘Let me show you how to use it.'”

According to Holly’s testimony, she declined, but Morris proceeded anyway.

“[H]e started to place it between he [sic] legs when she raised her voice and said no loudly,” according to the brief.

He was wearing only a pair of bikini underwear shorts during the incident, according to Holly.

“About two hours later, she had fallen back asleep and he came back in,” the brief says. “He brought the vibrator with him, plugged it in and said again, ‘Let me show you how to use it.’ He tried to show her again by putting it between her legs, but she raised her voice again and he stopped. He took it and left.”

This is not the only disturbing passage from the appellate brief. Big League Politics has a series of upcoming reports detailing allegations against the co-founder of one of America’s most powerful non-profits.

SPLC did not respond to an email request for comment regarding whether they condone Dees’ behavior in time for publication. When Big League Politics called for comment, SPLC’s media contact briskly hung up the phone.

Someone once said, "Revolutions always eat their children."
In the case of The Glorious Identitarian Revolution, it seems that the SJW children are eating their parents: the old New Lefties who got the whole ball rolling back in the Sixties and Seventies, and are now guilty of being White, Male, Christian/Jewish, and/or Not Woke Enough.
In Dees' case, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. With the dearth of actual Klansman or neo-Nazis to panic about, the $PLC has a become witch-hunting, character-assassinating scam operation. May it collapse under the weight of its own cash-grubbing lies and vitriol.

Some former employees at the SPLC opened their mouths and tell to clean house. https://pjmedia.com/trending/dont-stop-with-morris-dees-former-employees-told-splc-to-clean-house-at-the-top/

On Thursday, the far-Left smear group Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) announced it had fired its co-founder, Morris Dees. It will also submit to an external review of its work environment. According to Glassdoor reviews going back to 2016, however, former employees have demanded that the SPLC "clean house from bottom to top," with many demanding the ouster of its current president and CEO, Richard Cohen.

"Above a certain level, the upper management is incompetent," a former employee wrote in March 2018. "They treat non-lawyers like objects and don't care for feedback or criticism. People are afraid to criticize upper management. Office culture is neglected and thus, turnover is high."

That reviewer encouraged the SPLC to "clean house at the top and include lower level workers in logistical and office wide decision making."

In February 2018, another employee wrote that "some managers are disorganized and have unreasonable expectations for employees, leading to extremely long work days, no weekends, and very little control over personal lives."

Not all of the reviews were negative — the SPLC has a 3.2-star rating out of 5 stars — but even the very positive reviews revealed management problems.

One current employee gave the organization 5 stars in October 2017, but that worker gave this advice to management: "Do a better job of empowering rank and file."

A September 2017 review gave the SPLC one out of five stars, claiming the organization had lost "focus on the primary reason." Instead, "the main concern is raising more money, and maintaining the top rated platinum standard brand. Very elitist and a bit out of touch."

This reviewer also noted "a profound lack of diversity in higher level roles," even though "there are well qualified people of color who've dedicated up to and over 12 years to [the] mission of the organization."

These complaints echoed previous exposes from the Montgomery Advertiser, revealing that the organization did not promote black employees. This review also echoed the criticisms that the SPLC has become a fundraising outfit, inflating the numbers of "hate groups" to line its over $500 million in assets.
