Spy Kids was my first exposure to Antonio Banderas (never seen Mask of Zorro). I'm forever grateful for that.

Also I think was my first time seeing Alan Cumming ever. Luckily he was in the first film as Fegan Floop before the live-action Garfield and Son of Mask went into production.

Somehow it escaped me the trilogy was released literally back-to-back, I thought 3D was 2005.

Oh, I need to be reminded of this, was there a Spy Kids Flash game online where you were infiltrating the Floop factory or something? I distinctly remember there being a Flash game.

I thought the first one help up reasonably well when I rewatched it. I'm pretty sure there were some books they released too, I vaguely remember reading one.

Sharkboy and Lavagirl was the real movie to be autistic about.

To this day, a quote that my family will repeat to each other is "Floop is a mad man! Help us, save us!" I'm not quite sure why since it wasn't a particularly funny scene, but it does show how influential these movies were when I was a kid.

FLOOP IS A MADMAN, HELP US SAVE US! FLOOP IS A MADMAN, HELP US, SAVE US!

Only ones I saw was the first one and later watched the third one on TV, I skipped the second one because I was starting to feel a little too hard for a "Spy Kids" movie but I regret that, should I have been less of a stick in the mud (I was like 12 at the time)

Somehow it escaped me the trilogy was released literally back-to-back, I thought 3D was 2005.
I think you're confusing it with Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

Don't forget the R-rated 80s-action spinoff

Saw this in the theater and entire Mexican family came, including I assume the grandparents and brought along the kids, had to sit next to this little Mexican boy as scenes like a nude woman pulling a phone out of her vagina happened.

A bit awkward to say the least, I did enjoy the movie though, it's too bad the "Machete in space" movie never happened as that would have been funny, from what I understand the lineage from Grindhouse ended with Machete Kills, right? It's weird how fast we pivoted from nostalgia for 70s B movies to nostalgia for 80s B movies, maybe now the time's to reboot Grindhouse with an 80s flair?

Grindhouse 2 would be good but I'm not sure about doing it with an 80's flair since there's still quite a few 70's B Movie exploitation sub-genres that were left untouched and the ones that Rodriguez and Tarantino picked (Zombies and Slashers) were genres whose heyday overlapped with the early 80's as well.

Then again, Death Proof was both a slasher and a car chase movie and the car chase movies were more of a 70's thing than an 80's one. So who the fuck knows?
