Some of the surgeries are well-documented and standard- mastectomy, penectomy, orchiectomy, hysterectomy. Those are sensible enough for someone who does need some kind of physical assistance with gender.

It's the plastics, the construction of excess parts for appearance, and the hopes up of the patients for function, that are really damning when you look at these procedures.
There are so many potential complications and no way to treat someone who's had these new surgeries done- the variation is insane.

The community of people who want or need this medical care is not to blame for the unsound medical practices or the neglect of patients at all. They are held to their silence as much by the doctors doing this as by anything else.

Activism, I think, takes a backseat to the fear that no doctor will treat.

@PickledPeppers wait until you get your first sickle cell case. They get treated like drug seekers by the medical field, but have a real disease that mainly affects younger black people.

There are genetic differences, they're more based on region of ancestry than race though, a black man from Sierra Leone is more likely to have sickle cell than one from London.

My only hope is that the larger and safer medical community takes a deep stab at this shit, maybe regulate shit, or even arrest the hacks responsible, revoke there medical license and such.

Others pontificate about whether it's reasonable to make a child wait until they're 16 to make permanent changes to their body with experimental procedures.

I haven't even gotten into the use of hormone blockers and hormones in general, mainly because there are a great fat number of doctors willing to prescribe. They're less hostage to a small number of mengele types than the people getting bottom surgeries.

It's horrid to do anything beyond allowing the underage to dress/act how they like. I understand puberty might have additional challenges for some, but they're too young to consent and decide this kind of thing. Disabilities come with difficulties, and going through difficult puberty is the struggle for those who are trans, I suppose. You can't allow kids to do anything dangerous or irreversible, so it's just their burden to deal with.

That's really where the problem lies here. These fuckers aught to be sued for being lying butchers, regardless of what procedure they're doing, and they're trying everything in their power to make that unappealing to anyone with a case just to protect their own interests.

No doctor will remove your legs in the US just because you want it and you're an American.

What's more- if they're American, you can't make them do it.

The issue here is that if there's lawsuits, that whole community will lose a doctor. It's the leverage they're holding- if you want your legs off, and there's only one doctor that will do that, you better hope nobody sues because they'll just stop taking legs off, and you'll be shit out of luck.

It's hard leverage.

The third group I'd add are those who insist on therapy and preparation, spend time gatekeeping the bigger procedures, and only perform the well-tested standards of removal. Those doctors are not rare at all and are definitely not favored by the community, because they aren't promising anything fantastical or imaginary. They're realists in a world of conmen selling daydreams.

They won't be appearing in this thread, because they don't discourage people from discussing the problems with recovery from major surgery, they follow standard procedure and followup with patients.

I think you'd struggle to find anyone, trans or not, who had a happy puberty. It's scary and awkward and horrible, and everyone has a shit time and makes bad decisions to deal with it. If it gets worse than normal teen angst, that's what child mental health services are for. Most kids aren't even prescribed mild doses of well tested antidepressants until they're over 18 because of the risks, and this lot want to fuck up their endocrine system before they've even tried those, or given them enough time in therapy. That's my issue with it: it's not that they're making them wait to 16, it's that, if they're going down a proper mental health pathway, they should have spent so much time on it that they're already 16.

Oh of course, massive respect to the actually good surgeons specializing in things like genital reconstruction and organ transplants, shit is seriously impressive work. That's on me for not clarifying I mean two types of bad surgeons doing sex reassignment. Sex organs are a complicated and delicate part of the body--I guess that's why gynecologists and urologists were some of the first medical specialty fields. Probably also why there's such a massive chasm of skill between the good doctors, and the Nazi war criminal ones.

What's more- if they're American, you can't make them do it.

If there's nobody who wants to take off legs, that's fine, that's just a gap in the market I suppose. But there are plenty of surgeons who I'm sure would be completely willing to do things like that, safely, through legitimate means and with good results. What I don't agree with is that even surgeons who would be willing to do medically superfluous procedures, won't. As you said, no doctor "would" take off your legs "just because you want it". That might do more harm than good. I'm not sure how well I'll get my point across here, but I'll try anyways.

First of all, there seem to be two particularly big reasons why surgeons won't do procedures without a medically necessary reason. The first is obviously, they'd get sued. However, I won't really put much weight on this, because I'm pretty confident that if someone had a bodypart removed while confirmably aware of both the potential and definite consequences of it, and then regretted it, they wouldn't have that much of a case. The main problem there is that informed consent isn't very legally robust; if there were a fleshed-out legal definition of what constitutes as "informed" for medical consent, there would be basically no legal risk. As it is, a civil case wouldn't turn out well for the surgeon, but I don't think just for the problem of consent.
The second reason, and it seems the much bigger risk, both legally and professionally, is medical ethics. I know enough about medical ethics to know that "do no harm" is a simplification, but also how important it is. The problem is that what constitutes as "no harm", more often than not, really just means medical necessity. If something isn't made totally necessary by a medical condition, then it's "doing harm". In a binary way, that's fine, since procedures almost always take something away. Of course cutting off someone's perfectly healthy leg will have negative consequences, so it's just reasonable to say it's doing more harm than good. Conversely, if someone's leg is necrotized, falling off, and gone septic, then amputating it is doing more good than harm.
But these concerns seem to bolser an environment where genuinely unethical doctors thrive in places like sex reassigment surgery. Since SRS is a medical procedure for a psychiatric condition, it seems a lot of people, and consequently a lot of doctors, consider it as an unnecessary procedure. Which means that some surgeons willing to go into it won't, because it's too legally or ethically unsafe. And the more surgeons ultimately decide against going into it because of those risks, the higher the percentile of self-interested and unscrupulous hacks in the field.

Doctors being unwilling or unable to do unnecessary procedures also, more certainly, creates an environment where people will fake and lie to therapists and doctors for a rubber stamp. If any autogynephilic troon could get SRS without a Gender Dysphoria diagnosis, they wouldn't even bother trying to find psychiatrists to con, and the state of research would be in a much better place than it is now with 90% of the patientbase being malingerers. That's a bit more universal of a point, though; if any Munchie could just pay to get their lung taken out and lie to people that it was because cancer, hospitals would waste less resources on their bullshit, too.
Unnecessary surgeries being readily available just seems like a win-win to me.

Dysphoria and dissociation are common symptoms of puberty. Common symptoms of depression and autism, too. I would say people widely "forgot" that dysphoria isn't only gender-related, but that would imply anyone knew what dysphoria was in the first place.

I had it with Bowers. It wasn't good because she not only left me with a huge amount of erectile tissue that took 3 surgeries to remove, and gave me a urethra that expands to over an inch across with arousal, but most importantly she has left me with a sensation that can only be described as a screw driver being pressed into the left side of my clitoris.


Bowers, and no not really. It took almost 3-4 months trying to convince her that the wound separation I had was severe enough to get a revision. I even texted her pictures within days of the original surgery, where there was some big problems, and was told to just let it heal instead of revision.

I had surgery at the end of 2018 and have had complications ever since. It all stemmed from popping stitches on both sides of my vagina and my clitoris receding. I had a revision in June to address the more major of stitches popping but still have some nasty complications.

I lost the skin lining my vaginal wall and have essentially had granulation tissue all inside the vaginal canal. I was prescribed beta methazone cream to help but I am still having issues that I need advice about.

About once or twice a month my vagina feels like it's getting infected where dilating becomes super painful.

I've never been able to have PIV sex at all, though I can still orgasm through my clitoris but because its receded it takes a lot of effort.
