I just started playing STO, and I was just wondering if any fellow Christorians played. If so, perhaps we could start a fleet?

Also, if there are any experienced players, a noob could use some help.

Expect it to be like any other MMO; regardless of how well it's made, the awfulness of the players are going to make it suck.

But, if you're gonna play it anyway, just some tips:

-- try to avoid buying on the "auction house" as much as you can. They're always gonna rip you off.

-- save up as much dilithium as you can. These can be converted to it's own type of currency to buy items in stores.

-- "white" officers are junk after you're a noob.

-- do officer missions as much as you're allowed. If your concert recital doesn't suck, this will result in a more experienced crew, which means enhancements in things like stronger shield strength, more powerful weapon damage, etc.

-- If you're Fed, expect a lot of boring "scan for X number of X". If you're Klingon, expect to go around beating things up. No idea for Romulan tho since I hadn't gone back to play that yet.

-- Each race has their own weaknesses. Cold and sonic based weapons mess up Tholians for example

-- Pick a Science or Engie as your character. They can accomplish much more in ground missions than Tacticals

-- Never, ever, keep spare Tribbles in your bank with any bottles of booze. They'll drink it up and multiply like crazy.

Hope this helps.

-Best way to mine Dilithium? I know there is a cap on how much you can refine a day.

-"White" officers?

-How do I do officer missions?

-I already started as a Tactician and I just got to Level 10. Should I make a new character or keep this one?

One a side note, what's with the Zen? Is it necessary to use it at all if you want anything that's not cosmetic?

-- Get Dil from mining or by doing side missions, which are created by players). My favorite was where you go to the Temple of the Prophets on DS9 and "mock the plight of the wrinkle-noses". ]:(P

-- Once you reach higher levels (like 14, ? I can't remember), you'll have an Admiral hail you and talk to you about Officer Review Missions

-- "white" officers are officers that are noobs. They're like items, the color in their status shows how much better they are (white, green, blue, purple). Get it?

-- Tac is OK, but I never had it work well for me in ground missions. Engies are good for plopping down auto phaser turrets, Sci can do all sort of evil things like use their tricoder to set their target on fire.

Zen is the angle that Perfect World uses to sucker people into paying real money for ones and zeroes, like certain types of ships. I found it to be a scam, imo. You can get pretty far using the higher classes of ships that get unlocked as you level and the awards/drops. And don't let any player tell you otherwise. Theyre the kind of dicks I mentioned who try to make the game suck.

I can't remember the URls, but there are some sites than can help you do walkthroughs during certain tougher missions, like the saga to retake DS9 from the Dominion for example.

I've been thinking about going back in from scratch just to play the Romulan side. Dunno if you need to reach a certain level on a main character to do that first (you needed to have a level 10 Fed before you could unlock Klingon side for example, but they removed it recently).

I think I'll reinstall the game on Steam again and if I can get my old account login info again, I'll see if I can see what stuff I can spare and mail them to you. Send me a private note with your account name and server (just in case they may have split it into several new servers since I played last December).
