In my opinion, unbelievably bad. Definitely the worst 'woke' remake so far. Aside from shit writing, shitty 'cool' moments that were total cringe, and shitty new characters, they went about dismantling every single aspect of human progress made in the Star Trek universe, every piece of goodness and hope that Roddenberry wanted Starfleet to represent. In Picard Starfleet is basically racist sexist space EU and everyone is living in a racist sexist hellscape from which there is no escape, while Picard stumbles around like a senile old man. Oh, and poverty is back, for some reason. Fun!
I always thought that star trek was a fictional world without 'evil' conservatives in the Federation. I'm guessing space brexit is being shoe-horned in here as an example of xenophobia and intolerance?

Creatively, Star Wars ran out of gas long before The Last Jedi. But for all of Lucas's faults, he didn't actively hate his audience, he only held mild disdain for them.
Movies maybe yes, as a franchise overall, maybe not, we were still getting stuff like KOTOR and I do think there was still potential when Disney bought it, including for movies, but The Last Jedi coupled with the "the force is female" climate pissed on any potential that was left.

Even the stuff that they say is good like The Mandalorian I haven't been able to work up interest in because the whole thing has been pissed on so much it just feels fucking played out, I look at Star Wars now and instead of anything exciting I see the pop culture equivalent of a bag of white rice, any sort of special mystique the franchise once had is just fucking gone, I'll always like the original trilogy but maaaaaaaaaan, as a franchise I'm pretty over Star Wars.

The argument can be made though I guess that yes, it was already out of gas and Disney was just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic till the fucking thing hit an iceberg and sank.

Lucas fucked up and should have just left well enough alone and let the thing age gracefully, had the Disney deal not happened it's possible Star Wars could have gone down like The Wizard of Oz, a movie people still care about after 80 years, instead when Star Wars turns 80 it's probably going to have faded into obscurity, death by overexposure.

The overall story of Star Wars is really quite tragic, Lucas achieved something really special with that original trilogy, but the question of "what to do next?" with it ultimately brought it down, Lucas should have just let it be an inspiration for future people to create "the next Star Wars" instead of try to make the next Star Wars.. be Star Wars again, gotta know when to fold 'em I guess.

Some argue that these shows are a third separate continuity from Enterprise through Voyager and Kelvin/JJ Trek.
CBS's cross-licensing agreement with Paramount meant that their trek shows have to be visually distinct from previous Trek incarnations, which is why none of the original ships, uniforms, or props appear for more than the minimum time necessary to establish the crossover. This is why there are no okudagrams and nearly no appearances of previous Starfleet vessel designs. Even Starfleet Headquarters is a complete redesign. By that measure it's an entirely different universe.

All of these references to time travel hopefully means they're going to retcon Season 1. That's the only way to save this fucking dumpster fire. At least bringing Q into it isn't the worst mistake they could have made.
According to the RLM guys (and some other places), the original plan for a big chunk of Picard was that he would time travel to different eras on earth, in a sort of Star Trek/Dr Who mashup. They scrapped that and replaced it with borg lesbians and wasted cameos, because fuckface Kurtzman is a fuckface.

Almost certainly sitting at a desk as a Vice/Full Admiral. She was in the chairforce as of Nemesis.
Yes, but just think of how many assistants she's phasered for failing to deliver her coffee perfectly. Her body count has to exceed Vader's by now.
To be fair, TNG implied that Starfleet had a somewhat Marxist philosophy when it came to Money, and DS9 demonized Capitalism via the Ferengi. It's my least favorite part about Star Trek.
They did and they didn't. I mean, up until the last season where everything went ham-fisted Quark making money selling drinks to everyone was considered perfectly acceptable by everyone on DS9. Of course, that last season did give us the Siege of AR-558 where Quark delivered some delicious words of wisdom to Nog.

That wasn't the original premise, that was Mike Stoklasa's own fanfic premise of "what he would do" following the announcement of the Picard series.

So Paradise Lost sitting on table, Q in the trailer and all the writers are pretentious retards. Here's my guess for the plot of the season 2. Q either the one we know or another one is going fall from grace and leave the collective and try and take over the universe. Our only hope is Picard and his retard squad of an elf samurai, useless junkie, alcoholic pilot, the dumbest scientist and murderer, and 7 of 9 who is lezing out with the junkie. Oh and throw in some stuff about COVID 19, riots, ACAB, racism and other shit that doesn't belong in Star Trek.

Only TOS had conservatives and Christians who weren't "evil." Regarding replicators they do need the raw materials whether it is food stock, metal, organic and inorganic compounds. So sombody is still slaving away on the farm, mine, oil field and etc. aquiring those raw materials.

In Mudd's Women the Enterprise visits that dilithium mine and it has a real frontier feel about it. The miners are living in little shacks in an inhospitable environment.

Even Enterprise never had that frontier feeling. TNG certainly didn't when even terriforming planets is done from a big plush chair.

So I haven't seen Picard. And I'm not subscribing to Paramount+. I have enough subs already. But didn't the final TNG episode All Good Things put a really nice cap on the end of the series? What's the point of even more Picard at this point?

Where the hell is my Worf series? I'd rather see that.

Also, I stumbled upon this conversation on YouTube:
- I hope Q reveals that Picard never left the Nexus.
- But if he never left the Nexus, that means that the rescue mission around First Contact never happened. :(
- I just blew your mind? As in, just now? I thought about that for decades, and when you think about it, every Star Trek movie with Picard has been some kind of wish fulfilment for Picard.
- Let's start from Generations. Obviously, he wishes to win, and he does, but there's something else. Kirk being retired and living in the mountains... that's not at all what Kirk wanted. Kirk wanted to die on the bridge of his spaceship, so that can't be Kirk's wish. Kirk living in the mountains is Picard's wish: the illusion that he, Picard, is the better captain; the illusion to see Kirk die in order to let Picard win.
- Next, First Contact. Picard still held a grudge against the Borg, and he wanted a battle against them, a battle whose stakes would be the fate of the Federation, a battle only he could win. And he got that, in the most megalomaniacal possible way, which involved meeting face to face with the inventor of the warp engine, and personally enabling him to make his flight.
- Insurrection. Now, when you think about Insurrection, you see that the story is about the people around Picard getting better, so that was an altruistic wish for Picard, but then, if you follow Deep Space Nine, you notice that there was something else going on at that time. The Dominion War. So, why was the Enterprise E, the flagship of the Federation, sent to a backwater planet nobody ever heard about, instead of being at the forefront in the Dominion War? Easy, because there was no Enterprise E in the "reality" of Deep Space Nine! That ship was Picard's fantasy, and Picard could not know about the Dominion War, because it had not started yet when he entered the Nexus!
- Nemesis. Full of plot holes? Oh no, those are not plot holes. Picard wanted to retire, but for his final mission, he wanted the same crew dynamics as when he was the captain of the Enterprise D, which he desperately missed. He got it. That's why Worf was part of the crew, why Data had no emotions, why Wesley was there, why Romulan ale was illegal, why the Enterprise fired photon torpedoes again instead of quantum torpedoes, and why the enemies were the boring old Romulans!
