Christ, what a slog of a game. I think it would have at least been enjoyable had the combat been really smooth and authentic to star wars, and by that I mean if it allowed for some insane dismemberment with lightsabers. But the combat is so restricted and it feels like you're hitting dudes with a wiffle bat, not a light saber. I dunno how Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy still have better lightsaber combat despite being 18 years old. Maybe it's just the genre, but man, just a ton of wasted potential.
I actually remember when Respawn announced it, a lot of people though it might be another Jedi Knight game, with Respawn's background of FPS's and all.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Also its pretty telling that the most memorable thing about it was a brief reference on South Park.I was gifted Fallen Order as well, coincidentally enough. My biggest problem problem with the game is that the optimization on PC is fucking garbage. On top of being riddled with bugs and wonky hit boxes, it runs like absolute ass even on Medium and Low Settings, for in-engine visuals that, frankly, aren't that demanding. And I know it isn't my specs because Respawn's other game, TitanFall 2 which is built on a far more graphically-sophisticated and demanding engine, runs smoothly on max settings on my PC. I'm well aware that Respawn publicly admitted to having rushed the game to meet the clownish deadline that EA had imposed upon them (shipping the game with full knowledge of the bugs, reportedly), but that doesn't make the lousy performance any less bearable. By the time I was exploring Kashyyyk the second time around and the foliage was making the framerate swan-dive to 30-40FPS, I just called it quits and uninstalled the fucking thing. It's just as well---from what I played, the combat was Diet Dark Souls with Lightsabers (which might entice some people, but it comes off as boring to me. Not every lightsaber game has to have the finesse of the Jedi Knight series, but even Collective's Revenge Of The Sith game had better combat than this...at least it had more complex combos like a proper beat 'em up), and the story was the same ho-hum Nu-Canon stuff as the current comics and novels; safe, boring and unimaginative with annoying cretins for characters. It's not terrible, but it's not for me...and my standards for Star Wars games, and video games in general, are pretty low.
Oh, well. Time to install Mysteries of the Sith with a graphics mod again.
Also it looks like even the worthless fucks at WatchMojo decided to make a video about all the possible tie-ins and crossovers the Mandalorian will do soon after it was announced that Filoni's Mandoginger would be in the show alongside others.
There's also more increasing talk of this supposed "Aladdin's Rebels sequel" online which The Mandalorian supposedly leads into which sounds like a pretty bad idea considering that Rebels is basically bottom of the barrel Disney Junior shit. If these rumors are worth a damn (which I doubt and really hope its all a load of bullshit), the show will focus on bridging the gap between ROTJ and TFA, which may mean a lot of crossover shit as both it and Mandalorian supposedly put more emphasis on the origins of the First Failures which is already an increasingly bad idea, made all the more worse with Wendig's OC Rae Sloane supposedly being a part of this. I really hope this is all just a lot of Disney loyalist optimistic bullshit and that the worst the Mandalorian will have is just one episode with Filoni's OCs with no more sequel references, but my hopes have been shot down before so I wouldn't be surprised if its all true.
