It's almost certainly fake, but a KOTOR movie directed by Ava DuVernay would make me want to kill myself.
Ava DuVernay is knee deep in trying to fuck up 'New Gods'
It seems that movie is a make or break for her.

Not looking good, when you have Tom King co-writing it with her. <chuckle>

If that movie flops, she will be relegated to small indies or TV(if she is lucky).....

You'd think A Wrinkle in Time flopping would have been the end of her genre career, but she's got that black and female privilege, so I can't imagine anyone in Hollywood telling her "no" no matter how many bombs she makes.

Nah, she still had 'Selma' cred. You can roll off a bomb, but two big ones back to back?

They can find another minority female director to champion. Not stick with same one losing them money...

Whatever happened to Michelle Maclaren? I remember, for a bit, she was being poised to be the next huge female director.

When she left Wonder Woman, she kinda fell off the face of the earth. She certainly had promise....

It's not like there are no women who can't be given projects based on merit.

It just seems to be inexperienced shitty ones getting jobs...

Her film adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time was a disaster as she completely disregard the Christan themes in favor of your run of the mill multicultural woke progressivism, all while missing the point of the story. Her take of New Gods and any SW movie will officially make her the black Michael Cimino.

Replacing Christianity with the cult of "Wokeness", it really says it all.

So... I just found out that according to Pablo "Soy de Soya" Hidalgo (sauce: 1 and 2), the nu-Death Star from TFA is not only a mobile planet but it was apparently the planet where the First Order started off and were living on when they arrived in the Unknown Regions and were taken in by Snoke before converting it into a weapon... somehow. And according to that Resistance cartoon, the First Order had been going around the galaxy testing the weapon on random systems and sucking up stars while Kylo Ren went around committing random genocide runs.
1568346185582.jpeg1568346666324.jpeg
And also according to Hidalgo, the star energy inside the nu-Death Star is actually converted into supernatural "phantom energy" which travels through "sub-hyperspace" somehow and cause rips and tears in space-time which is why everyone in the galaxy could see the beams at the same time... somehow... because "unlike regular hyperspace which moves ACROSS the galaxy, sub-hyperspace can move THROUGH the galaxy"... This bullshit's actually making me miss the fucking Vong... Just how...

God I cannot take the First Order seriously. They are the definition of those old shitty EU factions that didn't belong in Star Wars and had bullshit woven to try to fix it, like the Empire Reborn in Crystal Star. Choose literally any of the good Imperial factions from the old EU, no wanted the Empire but ebuler and more powerful.

Remember when the old EU was mocked for coming up with outrageous retcons to make dumb things work, and people said that wouldn't happen with the new EU? I'd respect Hidalgo more if he just said "fuck it, it looked cool".

I agree, every day that passes I appreciate what NJO was trying to do more and more.

I was usually pretty forgiving of a lot of things, but the Crystal Star and most especially the Vong are where I drew the line (although the Crystal Star didn't arouse any ire in me, just confusion so I did eventually just ignore it and stopped caring about it). I honestly disliked the Vong over how stupid the concept was since it was just Hellraiser/Drow/Dark Eldar with a WH40K motif that were forced into a setting they didn't fit into while they just went around fucking up accomplishments and beloved planets, but fans still defended them because "OH WOW! 40k in SW! Kill the xenos lol!" Now I actually miss those stupid fuckers since what they did almost feels like a drop in the ocean compared to Disney's shit. Hell, Disney even brings back the Vong but just renames them and makes them another generic enemy faction that's stupidly powerful for no real reason and don't even have their super organic tech anymore to give them an edge. That's how bad Disney has fucked up.

Apparently everyone is a butchered bloodstain-face. The character is called Dryden Vos and he's covered in those natural scars, but his species is never formally given a name, he's just labeled near-human.

All the tentacled aliens and aliens with sea animals for heads (like blobfish and cuttlefish) are there because Kennedy has a tentacle and deep sea fetish according to commentary from Solo's writers which I've already talked about like 3 times in this thread, where she goes into her office and just looks up deep sea animals and tentacles on Google.

There's also a disturbing amount of phallic-shaped aliens, but these two are the most grotesque.

They're also uglier donut steal versions of pre-existing aliens.

In other news, a rather interesting announcement. Jedi Outcast and Academy are getting ported to Nintendo Switch and PS4. You'd think Disney wouldn't want zoomers playing those games and having the gall to think "wait, Luke leading a new Jedi Academy is kinda cool".

Now I actually miss those stupid fuckers since what they did almost feels like a drop in the ocean compared to Disney's shit.
I still find a ton of faults with them, but like I said I appreciate that they were trying to do something new with NJO, and that thing was "here's an enemy completely outside of the Force as the Jedi understand it" (although Lucas was on track to fuck up that part anyways). It also introduced new concepts that I think still fit in the Star Wars universe, like a living planet and becoming one with the Force without dying. Ultimately, though, the Vong really served as a vehicle to make Jacen the most interesting character in the post-Endor period. Benny Boy doesn't even come close, as even Jacen's much derided fall to becoming a Sith and mandated by higher ups death is still better than what we got with Han and Leia's new Jacen 2.0.

disney just wants some of that switch money and their ea exclusivity is biting them in the ass because ea did fuck all with the license.

as for the vong, my problem was that it always reeked way too much of the usual shitty redemption-retcon bad writers do when they can't come up with good original stuff and try to get the fans on board by writing borderline fanfiction for pandering. "see, the emporer wasn't really bad, he had a reason for all he did because he knew the vong were coming!". ffs sometimes people are just "evil" because they want more power/money/whatever and go about it more ruthlessly, there doesn't always have to be an ulterior motive.

I saw that too... Feels like a strange choice on nu-Lucasfilm's part, and from what I understand, EA has no control over the matter despite that game decisions have to be made in part by them. I mean, I love Jedi Outcast and Katarn is badass incarnate, but why suddenly bring this one back now as an HD port? And why only JO and JA but not the Dark Forces games? And why re-release games that show Luke as a success and doesn't star one of their woke or crappy protagonist? What's their game here?

I still find a ton of faults with them, but like I said I appreciate that they were trying to do something new with NJO, and that thing was "here's an enemy completely outside of the Force as the Jedi understand it". Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with you and the Vong played an interesting role and had some interesting ideas that I did like (living planet, organic tech, detailed philosophy, language and beliefs), I just disliked their execution. The idea was good on paper and the books were far better written than anything Disney has published, but their actions and flaws were just too much for me. It was even worse when the writers decided the Vong should be spared instead of being completely nuked for all their bullshit and have them redeem themselves and go into self-imposed exile while taking all their amazing biotech with them which could've been used to fix their damn mess, but nooooo. Instead they walk away but come back 100 years later to actually fix their bullshit (which they should've done right from the get go) but they get sabotaged and their "help" makes things even worse.. Also, with the way they were so active in Yavin, these fuckers should've honestly been rogue/banished Massassi or an even more mutated force-devoid offshoot of them that were practically bordering on sithspawn (basically mutants created by sith), then at least their presence wouldn't feel so out of place. But yes, I still agree, and despite these damn flaws, I can learn to live with them again, since it would be easy enough to fix their shit if they just gave a few retcons/fixes like Chee usually used to do to make something more tolerable or likeable (like with the Sun Crusher). The thing is though, I don't want the old EU/Legends to be recanonized by Disney or a new "fixed" canon without Disney shit taking its place, not because I don't like it or hate the things I didn't like too much, but because quite frankly I can see Disney fucking it up and woking it up as badly as they have their own canon. The recent attempts at story from TORtanic have me convinced that things wouldn't get better. I mean sure, that new Marvel comic set in old canon was probably one of only 2 or 3 SW Marvel comics I've enjoyed and found to be very well written (the others being Obi-Wan & Anakin mini series and 2 one shots), especially in how it surprisingly handled Jaxxon. But the only way a new replacement canon or a return to old canon would have any optimistic interest from me is if Disney sells off the IP to a company/person that actually gives a damn (which is unlikely) or completely cleans house at Lucasfilm while setting up a strict set of employee and creative guidelines and gives the comic rights back to Dark Horse (which is even more unlikely). So right now I'm just content to be shitposting, complaining and laughing here with all of you and watching Disney's bastardized incarnation of a thing I once loved dearly sink into the pits of Chaos.

There were some image leaks of upcoming “Black Series” figures, 8 in total with characters from Episode 9, “The Mandalorian”, and the upcoming “Jedi: Fallen Order” video game:

For Episode 9:

Supreme Leader Kylo Ren

64CD8003-2156-4561-8844-A846F0396D87.jpeg

Not too much to say, looks like the movie costume, which is basically the TLJ look with the repaired helmet. It comes with an ignited lightsaber and separate hilt and what looks to be a removable hood. The helmet seems a bit oversized to me, so it’s possible it is removable. You can also see the red welding lines on the helmet as well. I have to say, I do like Kylo Ren’s design, it’s just a shame it’s wasted on a pathetic character.

Rey & D-0

92A5704E-6105-40C9-9669-34634BB528A8.jpeg

Rey in her Episode 9 clothes, which are basically the same as her other outfits, pretty boring. Remember all the awesome and distinctive looks Luke had throughout the OT, leading up to the badass black uniform? Yeah, none of that for Rey.

The figure looks like it comes with her staff, blaster, the repaired Skywalker lightsaber, and a desk lamp... I mean the ‘lil cutesy droid buddy D-0. It looks like there is a backpack or something on the figure, I’m thinking the lamp droid fits in it so it can ride on The figures’ back.

Sith Trooper

B53D7779-FB97-4147-95B9-FC3474672352.jpeg

Looks to be the same as the SDCC figure, just in the standard packaging and with less accessories. Not too much to say, it’s a red angular stormtrooper. Buy 20 of them! I’m sure they will be marked down on clearance weeks after release.

First Order Stormtrooper

03849843-F2FD-4264-B770-562726E819E3.jpeg

Looks to be the same figure that’s been released from the past waves. There might be minor sculptural and articulation improvements, but its hard to tell from the image.

Comes with baton, shield and blaster pistol. Not sure why the FO troopers come with so much melee and close combat gear, seems like a standard blaster carbine and maybe a pistol would be adequate.

Cal Kestis

4737A20E-1E0B-4D4A-BD3D-921C21B9D456.jpeg

The player character from the Fallen Order game in one of the many outfits you will probably pay actual money to have the character wear in-game.

The figure looks like a punk ass little bitch and comes with what looks to be a lightsaber staff (don’t see another blue blade in the box), and a cutesy ‘lil buddy droid (seems to be a theme here) called BD-1, which I believe I read somewhere actually stands for Buddy Droid-1. I’d imagine the droid probably attaches to the figures’ back like in the game.

Second Sister Inquisitor

81B9BFBF-856B-4458-9CAD-EE7B84A57300.jpeg

A figure of what I believe is the main villain in the Fallen Order game. The design is fine, just an imperial type specialist helmet on what looks like a modified officer uniform.

I know this character is related to the inquisitor characters from the “Rebels” cartoon that I never watched because of the Inquisitor name and I recognized the retarded circle spinning double bladed lightsaber. Aside from the saber the figure comes with what looks like additional armor parts, probably shoulder armor for when the cape is removed.

The Mandalorian

892F8058-0665-4F67-B4FE-4DCA5517CFD2.jpeg

Figure based on the main character from the upcoming “The Mandalorian” series. I guess his name is just “The Mandalorian”. He really is a man with no name.

The figure looks accurate to the show, it’s basically Boba Fett except brown and nowhere as cool looking. You know, the black series has not yet produced a ROTJ version of Fett yet, and the ESB figure that has been made is years old and the sculpting really leaves a lot to be desired when compared to more recent offerings. Just saying. The figure comes with a blaster pistol and long rifle.

Offworld Jawa

AF422CE5-7835-4B1E-A0FE-6A19AFD87A4B.jpeg

Not sure what media this will appear in, but if I had to guess I’d say it is the Mandalorian so they can have Jawas and not be on Tatooine. Insert favorite Red Letter Media joke here.

This Jawa looks like it has super spooky red eyes and comes with what looks like two ion blasters, with one attatched to the figure by a cable that possibly attaches to some sort of canister or backpack that may or may not hold a ‘lil droid buddy based on a toaster with googley eyes glued on to it. But that’s just a guess.

I sure can’t wait to see figures of Finn in boring jacket, Poe in Nathan drake cosplay, old Lando in his yellow shirt and Zora Bless or whatever the hell her name is.

Why not just call it a Jawa and be done with it? Its like nu-Cosian shit in TFA. Just call it a Cosian. Anyway, judging from the color of its eyes, its definitely the same one from the Mandalorian trailer. Although I wouldn't be surprised if IX has some too for their shitty Burning Man festival scene which supposedly has Ithorians or the shitty nu-Ithorians with prolapsed vaginas on their foreheads and human mouths.

Also for those interested, here is the Mandalorian sneak peek from the expo back in April along with the scene that has nu-Jawas in it.

To its credit, it at least uses more familiar things in just 20 seconds of footage than the Disney films have in the last 5 years, but so many in just one short clip makes it feel rather forced and member berry-ish, like "we're so sorry we left all these things out for so long! Please forgive us! Member these things from ROTJ?! Of course you member!" One thing of note is that some of these alien costumes are recycled from the films, like the ugly and hairless orange Rodian "girl" from Solo and some aliens from TLJ... Seriously, why use those disgusting Canto Bight aliens?

as for the vong, my problem was that it always reeked way too much of the usual shitty redemption-retcon bad writers do when they can't come up with good original stuff and try to get the fans on board by writing borderline fanfiction for pandering. "see, the emporer wasn't really bad, he had a reason for all he did because he knew the vong were coming!". ffs sometimes people are just "evil" because they want more power/money/whatever and go about it more ruthlessly, there doesn't always have to be an ulterior motive.
I'm pretty sure that's from an in-universe apologetic propoganda book for Palpatine and Thrawn, the old EU never outright said that was Palpatine's goal. Palpatine is even more evil in Dark Empire, didn't mention any of this shit to Luke to tide him over (of course NJO wasn't published yet) and was doing terrible shit even before the hints of the invasion so I'm pretty sure he was just a dick.

the writers decided the Vong should be spared instead of being completely nuked for all their bullshit and have them redeem themselves and go into self-imposed exile while taking all their amazing biotech with them which could've been used to fix their damn mess, but nooooo. Oh, I actually really like that part. The story is basically one giant journey to Jacen redeeming the Vong and bringing them into the Force, and Traitor is the tipping point where Jacen learns that they're really just fanatics trapped by their own beliefs. The New Republic/Galactic Alliance isn't that much different from the Empire if they genocide an entire race, especially after learning about the oppressed lower classes who had no say in the war, are they? The series was ultimately about finding your identity, and that's what the Vong needed to do at the end of the books.

The Black Series leaks are weak as hell, by the way. You could use the TFA version of Rey, the TLJ version of Kylo, and any version of the First Order trooper in place of buying this shit. Hasbro needs to dedicate more of these lines to EU figures, they'd probably sell really well with collectors, who are the only people who buy this shit anyways. They released Revan and Jaina and no one else. What really makes me laugh is that JJ really is saying fuck you to Rian, Kylo's first run is back to being mask only.

So, apparently a rumor is going around that Mara Jade and Thrawn are apparently likely to pop up in Madalorian? I'm skeptical, to say unto the least, but you guys are WAY more tuned into what the fuck is going on behind the scenes than me.
We've had rumors about Mara Jade for ages, everyone claims she's going to appear in the next Star Wars product. Thrawn would make sense, but he's already canon so it's not like it's big news.

Personally, there's no point in having Mara show up in this doomed timeline. She was known for being a smuggler and dealing with unsavory types, yeah, but she's equally as known for becoming a Jedi and marrying Luke (for fuck's sake her entire character development revolves around Luke), and that's impossible at this point unless it turns out Luke is revived. Maybe they could have a new actor as Luke show up in the Mandalorian, but that would not only turn it into the "OT hero wank" they're claiming to be trying to avoid but also just depress everyone because you know it's doomed to failure.
