How interested would people be in a Starbound server? We used to have one but it was rarely used and it kept crashing. Now that the game is version 1.0 it might be worth doing.
I wouldn't mind playing once I get my main PC back. The laptop I play it on runs fine until it started lagging in places like an abandoned Hylotl castle and the Great Pagoda.
I'm not sure about that. I know most of my info from third party sources. Starbound's development is considered quite a morbid train-wreck in some quarters, and all the versions of the game that I've played have been very prone to crashing and massive FPS drain the instant you enter an area with more than half a dozen things going on in it.
On the server front there was some memory leakage going on with the initial 1.0 release that's supposedly been addressed in 1.0.2. FWIW, my 32GB RAM OVH box (on Debian Jessie; I note this because more complaints about the dedi server are happening on Windows-based boxes) went from a 20% idle mem to 0.9% idle mem when I updated to 1.0.2 last night, but since I only have 5 max concurrents that may not be a good metric for judgment and mileage may vary.
