OK, let's try this salt thread out.
Once upon a time in the year of our Lord 2015, popular coffee chain Starbucks released their holiday themed coffee cups. Where people were expecting snowflakes and Christmas lights they got a SOLID RED CUP.

People were mad, and other people were mad that people were mad. Memes flowed and the "Hahaha Christians are stupid" became the thing on Facebook, it was funny for some, but really upsetting for some that Christians (and therefore Republican conservatives) were this mad. I noticed that most people weren't mad at the red cup, and people getting mad over people getting mad vastly outweighed the people getting mad at the first place.

I remember naming my trivia team name "The Washington Redcups" because the redskins debate was still ongoing at the time. People seemed to find it humorous and witty.

But that was 2015, let's move on to 2016.
OH MY GOD THEY'RE GREEN, WITH DIVERSE PEOPLE (i guess) ON THEM
http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2016/11/new_green_starbuck_cups_have_s.html
Once again people are mad and people are mad that people are mad

All this over literally a piece of garbage.

Meanwhile at Dunkin Donuts, the "working man's coffee" or "Anti-Starbucks"

The hot chocolate and the sasauge sandwiches using english muffins are alright.

Other then that, why are people so fucking pissed? It's a cup you throw in the trash when you're done, it's not like they're handing you a handmade ceramic mug that deeply offends your religious leanings, get over yourself.

The guy at our local starfucks said people have purchased drinks and say their names as "Merry Christmas" just to add a festive bit to it. I don't know if I believe him or not but if it IS true that would be pretty fuckin hilarious. Paying for a drink and then 'protesting' by making a miserable Starbucks worker write a small thing that only you'll see. such bravery

I can usually at least figure out the mindset of people reeeing over something stupid, but in this case the imagery people were demanding on their coffee cups wasn't even religious in nature and Starbucks was selling a "Christmas Blend" in stores around that time, so outrage would literally not make any sense. I read a lot about this controversy last year but never saw any actual evidence of a chimpout, just people going on about how stupid the alleged chimpout was. That was dissapointing.

Why does Starbucks seem to deliberately insert itself into petty political fighting? Come to think of it, why do any companies do that? Think about how much more money they made if half the country didn't want to boycott them.

They didn't, though. There was just a bunch of autists who freaked out about literally nothing.

I love Starbucks Coffee's cold drinks and their baked goods are decent, so no politically correct paper cups for me. For classic coffee, I would rather make my own at home with a can of Maxwell House or French Market. It's too fucking hot and time-consuming down here to buy a hot drink. Besides, regular Starbucks tastes like blended shit, and Dunkin' Donuts is homeless piss with HIV-positive semen for cream. If you live in the rest of the world and want to stay warm, buy a hip flask and experiment with Pinnacle Vodka's countless flavors.

It's a phenomenon I call "The red cup effect," named after this very shit show last year, where something happens, like maybe 5 people get mildly upset, but thousands get mad that those 5 get upset because those 5 somehow speak for their entire group of people.
"Hahaha, I bet Christians are gonna gonna get mad over this."
"DID YOU SAY CHRISTIANS ARE MAD OVER THIS?!?!?"
