Lady(4) Liberty(7)’s crown with 7 spikes/rays and 4-sided pedestal with 4 columns on each side on top of the unique 11-sided former Fort Wood. “JULY IV MDCCLXXVI” (all 7 Roman letters) – 7/4/1776 - is inscribed on her tablet. The Statue of Liberty is located at New York(7) City(4) 40°N 74°W. La Liberté Éclairant le Monde or Liberty Enlightening the World is the official name given to the statue by sculptor and Freemason Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. It was proposed by French statesman/writer and Freemason Edouard de Laboulaye and its skeleton was built by engineer and Freemason Gustave Eiffel of Eiffel Tower fame. (The pedestal was paid for and built by the New York Freemasons.) These architects were well aware of the connection of this statue with the Colossus of Rhodes: one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Liberty’s 7 rays are said to symbolize the 7 continents and 7 seas but they – like the Colossus of Rhodes - in–fact symbolize the 7 Classical Planets whose light enlighten the world. Note how the 7 rays atop Liberty are arranged so the 4th ray/spike is clearly the highest.
