Steam needs no introduction. This platform is renown and quite universally praised for many reasons. While this platform for gamers is where this takes place, it's hardly the focus of what I'm about to show you. About a month ago, there was a thread made on the ERP community, and it got into a decent amount of information on what some of these people get up to and what they obsess over, but I feel there's an untapped vein of autism to be found not just on steam in general, but within its roleplaying community.
The Steam community has plenty of decent groups that are centered around games, specific ways to play games, etc. They can be neat places to meet new friends with similar interests and tastes in video games. However, would you be surprised that there's a surprising amount of groups dedicated to things that are in no way related to gaming? There's a surprising amount of Steam groups dedicated to various fetishes and roleplaying? Unsurprisingly, there's a lot of crossover between this and the furry community, unsurprisingly, but it's not exclusive to just them.
I'd say that some of the most disturbing parts of this is that there are a lot of kids on steam. Similar to Tumblr, a lot of kids will end up being cringy on whatever platform they use, and while you might shrug it off as just kids being kids, some of the subjects of these groups are far too fetishy, sexual, or downright weird for there to be just kids there. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these groups are exposing kids to things they either need to find on their own as to not break the law or shouldn't be exposed to at all.
I've done a bit of digging and found a decent amount of things I found that either made me laugh or simply made me wince in disgust.

There's honestly a shocking amount of people asking for not just RP, but actual fetish and sexual experiences like two of the people there. On top of that, one dude was so much of a coward that he had his friend come up with a bullshit excuse for why he couldn't give his own RP ad.
We've got an actual hermaphrodite, guys! Someone with both functioning parts! You know, the thing that has never happened and is likely won't happen without major scientific advancements into a field that will most likely remain unexplored because it provides no benefit aside from satisfying fetishes?

Seems like your average yiff group, and all, but there are two things that I want to highlight about it. The fact that it mentions that a lot of furry groups have been banned or taken off of Steam is an interesting one. There are a number of SFW but still cringy furry groups on the platform, but they seem a lot less numerous than they used to be, and I think the reason those ones are still around is because they don't officially focus on NSFW stuff.
The second thing being the person who owns it.

I didn't bother digging shit up on the person, given that they're not of age, but part of that is why I share it. The owner of a group on Steam dedicated to furry porn is indeed underaged, ha a username asking for sex or rp, and their icon is cropped porn. You know, things that kids shouldn't be allowed to do? I just figured it would be worth pointing out, as it reaffirms that there are underaged people waltzing about Steam doing things that no person under eighteen should be doing.
Also, looks like we have some crossover, as someone who has a thread has been mentioned in the group's comments section. So a fan of someone who defends pedophiles is in an NSFW group owned by a minor.
Lastly, I wish to share the part that I found legitimately horrifying. Being that I've already shown that there are underaged people mucking about Steam doing things that only adults should be associated with, I give you this:
