Each year I'm more disappointed with the sales and this seems not to be an exception, I hope to find some real hidden gems, but I'm ready to be let down once again.

I haven't had the chance to view the full extent of the discounts yet since the servers are still in the "technology equivalent of people punching each other to get TVs on Black Friday" stage; but I can already tell that a shitload of games from my wish list are on sale so I'm like a kid in a sweet shop right now. I suppose that'll change in future sales once I have pretty much everything that I'd ever want from the Steam store, but for now I'm enjoying myself. I'm glad that this year's has some sort of meta game with the sticker thing too.

Is Shadow of Mordor worth it? I've heard it's pretty fun but from what I've seen it really bends Tolkien over the barrel. I don't think Lord of the Rings is perfect but the books have a distinct personality and I don't know if I'd enjoy the game if that's absent.

I don't know, but I do know that it's £3.99 with all the dlc included on Bundle Stars right now I think. I checked their summer sale lineup out since Steam is still shitting itself.

I would say the gameplay and nemesis system where the Orcs have specific weaknesses and react if you've tried to fight them before or if you've lost more than make up for any qualms you have about the story. I didn't really care about the story as someone not really big into LotR, but you run around with the spirit of a guy who made some of the rings of power and he allows you to mind rape orcs and do special moves. It's basically just running around and killing a ton of Orcs in really fun ways.

It's really just a good open world/action/stealth game that is having fun using the Tolkien universe. As you play the game it becomes apparent they're not trying to be canon which was a relief. Just realize you're playing someone else's Tolkien fanfiction.

I love Project Cars but be aware it's not a hugely polished game and the AI can be a little stupid. The sequel is on track to be an amazing racing game, particularly for us VR early adopters but if you can pick the original up for a few quid it's a fun game.
